Slick, fast, great price... but poor service from Iomega.......2007-12-28
I love the drive. It is fast, compact, sturdy, and a great price. However, I guess the first copy I got was damaged in shipping, or maybe just a lemon. I bought the drive because my computer hard-drive was full. I should have been more careful, but I transfered all my wedding photos (I am a wedding photographer) on to the new drive and deleted them from my computer (BIG MISTAKE). The drive crashed 3 days later, and would not connect to any computer. When I called Iomega... they said I could get a new one, but that to get the data off the crashed drive, they would charge me like $1,500.00, as that was not in the warranty. Needless to say, I couldn't afford it and lost ALL the data. I guess I should have been more careful, but part of me is pissed off that the drive crashed. Amazon was AWESOME, they sent me a replacement before I had even returned the old one!
PC & Mac? ..... So Far So Good!.......2007-11-06
The Firewire and cabling options have worked very well for me. The software was easy to install and use on both Mac OS and the XP home and professional. The price per Gig is awesome. The transfer rate was nothing compared with the last time I transferred all of my media files and now I have 15 times the bytes.
I am making the transition from the PC world to the MAC world and I wanted to get a mass storage device that would work well with both platforms. Then continue to work well for me long term on the Mac once my transition was complete. As I said, so far so good and I couldn't be happier.
I am not a techie, so I called on my bother-in-law to help me decide which out of the thousands of mass storage devices to look at. He is a tech consultant to Fortune 500 Companies, and mass storage just happens to be his specialty. He is used to a little more industrial size project but after reviewing a few of the devices here on Amazon combined with what has worked best for him we decided on this Triple Interface Iomega 750.
The drive is actually a Seagate and heating is not an issue. It has great transfer speeds, access speed and the reliability long-term should be great.
I highly recommend this external drive.
Terrific Back-Up Solution for the Mac.......2007-09-27
I'v had no trouble whatsoever with this external drive. I didn't even bother using the software that came bundled with it b/c it's pretty lame. There's better free options on the internet. If you can live with downloading some free software, the trade-off is a VERY fast external that's obviously huge. It's fairly quiet, and gives off far less heat than you'd expect for a HD of that size (in terms of GB's, not physical space--it fits quite nicely on my desk).
Good Product Terrible Customer Support.......2007-09-15
I have only had drive for a short while so can't attest to it's reliability. So far I can report that it is fast, very quiet and a small footprint, all in all quite pleased. Iomega customer support is another problem. My drive came with a faulty stand ( a little clip on thing that allows drive to stand upright on desk). You would think this would be an easy problem to solve. Unfortunately not so. It took me 5 days to get through to someone and they informed me they couldn't replace clip that they needed to replace the entire drive. Of course this would mean shipping cost and time on my side and waiting for a new drive and recopying all the data that I had put on it. All I need was the little clip that probably cost all of .25 cents to manufacture and I couldn't get a replacement and the guy I spoke to wasn't all that friendly and that replacing the entire drive made sense to him. Sorry but their CS is just terrible. I probably wouldn't buy another Iomega product even if this drive proves to be reliable.

I got this product specifically to store multimedia files that I would need to access with as much speed as possible, and I have not been disappointed! Especially for the price, it's a great, reliable external drive.

Iomega makes good products. I bought two hard drives two work with three different computers, and they work great for the amount of material they store. Really worked to keep our computers from being overwhelmed, and easy to install.
Great Product, No Problems.......2007-12-18
This is an awesome deal for a HD this size and quality. I just got Leopard for my mac, and i had another 500gb usb External drive, so i decided to use that one solely for Time Machine and get this one for everything else. I had no problem installing, works smoothly and quickly. One thing to know is, if you plan on using the Firewire 800 (1394b), and your computer does not have a firewire 800 port, you will need to buy an adapter to switch from 800 to 400, which is definitely worth it. No need to buy cables though, it came with all the necessary cables.
Add an External to Your MAC........2007-12-03
I've had this for over a few weeks now and works flawlessly with the MacBook Pro. The Mac recognized the drive immediately without adding any software. A plus for me. So far so good. Enough space to backup the Mac.

I did a lot of shopping for a hard drive before finally getting this one. It comes with a triple interface, including the firewire 800, which is great with my new mac. It runs super smooth and fast. It is also a good looking hard drive, so its not very noticeable. A great buy, you won't regret it. It's a good investment, too. It will be a good hard drive for a while to come with its fast connection.
Fast and Reliable.......2007-11-24
This drive is great for backups. It is incredibly quiet and fast, especially when connected using Firewire 800. It worked perfectly for me after installing Leopard, then deciding to revert back to Tiger using the backup I had created on the Iomega drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.

Great way to backup drives.......2007-12-01
I used to have Iomega cassette drives. They were a pain and unreliable. I swore never to use another Iomega product. But when I was looking for a eSATA drive and saw this, I had to get it. I mean, how could they screw this up? All they have to do is take a hard drive and put it into a box and follow the eSATA standards. Works great! I'm using PartitionMagic Pro to copy drives on a computer with built-in eSATA. No drivers or other software needed.
