Great HP product, as always.......2007-05-16
I always try to go HP when possible for two reasons. They always do a solid job at building great products AND they back the products with the best customer service I have ever seen. I doubt I will ever need customer service for this USB floppy, but I am always willing to pay the extra bucks to get HP quality. I have bought anything from $40,000 plotters and servers to $400 photosmart printers to $20 keyboards from HP and they have always been solid produts.

Received the drive in good time. No box or fancy packing just bubble wrap thus the 4*s. Installed and tested with no probems. Still working fine today 1/9/07.
Not white, no mounting kit.......2006-05-18
The front (bezel) is not white, it is ivory. Also, there is no '5.25" mounting kit' nor "installation guide" included, as claimed. The distributor is buying these bare drives in bulk, and repackaging them. This is not a retail kit. Do some research on model # "FD235HFC291" to confirm my statements. If you want an off-white drive that will fit in a 3.5" bay, buy this drive. If you want what is advertised, look elsewhere.

Handy item to have for a laptop without a 3.5 floppy drive........2007-12-11
My new laptop computer with Vista didn't have a 3.5 floppy dirve. I had a lot of files saved on 3.5 disks from my old computer and need an easy way to get them on the laptop. I plugged the drive into the USB port and Vista automatically recognized the drive, automatically set up the drivers, and it was ready to use. It does come with a disk and instruction book for loading drivers for other systems but the disk isn't needed for Vista. The USB cord is only 16 inches long, which could be a problem if you were connecting to the back of a desk-top computer, but you can buy a USB extension cable it needed.
I loaded files from 33 disks on my first try and didn't have any problems. The price for this item was only about half of what some of the brand name floppy drives cost. Be aware that this item is listed as a Sabrent brand drive but the box it comes in is marked Teac Corporation. When you load it on your system it shows up as a Mitsumi FDD 061M USB device. I don't know what all that means but it's an excellent buy for the price and it works well.

With the onset of flash memory, the floppy disk, as a computer medium, has gone the way of the Dodo bird. On new computer systems, a floppy drive is usually an add-on. This USB floppy drive is exactly what you need to transfer any old floppy's to your new machine. It was recognized immediately by both my Vista and XP machines and has worked without any issues. In other words, it performs exactly as it should for a low price.

Returned item. Most likey is not compatable with common implementations of XP--eg, Toshiba Satellite is incompatable with this product. Suggest Amazon not sell such stuff.

Smartest way to backup Windows®.......2001-09-14
While this medium is becoming increasingly irrelevant, it's still vital for Windows users needing to create a backup of vital program files in the event of a system crash that leaves your CD drive useless. The average home user of Windows (who backs up program data on Zip disks, CDs or tape) will not need more than 10 disks to back up her system. Colored disks are an especially smart way to back up your critical program files because you can create a more ordered backup environment. And the neon colors Imation puts out just look cool. In a crisis, your life will be made a little easier by the few extra pennies you spend on these colored disks.
My criticism of these disks is limited. First, I would have preferred having one more disk of each color, or the ability to buy a smaller pack consisting of a single color. That would have made color coding a little easier. Second, for especially heavy users of this media, this 10-pack is obviously not cost effective.
But these are truly minor qualifications. For most home or single computer users of Windows, this is the smartest way to backup core Windows (and some third party utility) elements for a rainy day.

I'll shamelessly admit I bought these only because Amazon's system "recommended" them to me when I ordered a Sony digital camera (and I happened to need some disks anyway). They work just fine--is that high enough praise for a computer disk? Oh, and the colors are pretty.

These floppies are very high quality and provide excellent storage. I use the floppies today exclusively for picture storage with the Sony Mavica FD-88 camera. Many floppy brands are troubled by causing very slow storage from the camera onto the floppy. The Imation does not have this problem. I get 2 sec storage time using these disks. I cannot recommend them highly enough for use with the Mavica line. And the bright colors, in addition to being fun, make the disks easy to spot among the huge pile of old disks in my desk.

Its a great camera. I like using the floppies, I have alot of them because I have switched to using Zips and CDs. I don't need to use more hardware plugged into my computer or more clutter on my desk. The Mavica, produces good pictures so far and is really user friendly. The zoom works wonderfully. For the price, the floppy convienience, great pictures (even in low light), and ease of operation, this is a bargain.
