I bought this over 3 years ago; and it is still on my keychain, unfortunately overly full.
I have had a number of other USB drives in that time, each of them has failed in some way. My kingston drive had a key ring set into cheap plastic that broke after a month of carrying, I am not even sure where it is anymore. Other drives have had the metal USB sleeve fall off; still others from various manufacturers have simply died.
My only problem has been the protective cap that I lost almost 3 years ago. However, since I carry this drive nearly daily without a problem, I don't really worry about the cap on this model anyhow.
Because of it's performance and reliability, I am actually considering buying another one of these rather than going with a 2 or 4 GB model that I want. I could really use the space, but what good is it if the drive is useless in a few months?> With this model, I know I am getting the best.

When I ordered this, I wasn't sure what to expect, but now that I have it, I'm wondering how I managed to get along without one. The space is plenty more than I need, but I keep all my important files and information on it, and carry it on my key chain so it's with me everywhere I go.

It lasted two weeks. The rubber housing opened a little when squeezed near the usb plug and along its width (blue thing to blue thing). A little dirt or moisture got in. The computer no longer recognized what kind of USB device was being plugged in. I tested other USB devices, including a different flash memory, and they all worked fine.
I cut the rubberized covering off and blew the circuit board clean. The computer then recognized that the device is (was) a usb flash memory. I promptly backed up my data. I'm back to my 2Gb sandisk that has lasted about 2 years.
FAST and rugged.......2007-09-24
This is one of the fastest flash drives available on the market. It does depend on whether or not your computer has a USB 2.0 port, of course, but if it does then no problem. Quick to install on any machine (also MACs) and needs no drivers, even if a mini-CD is supplied.
The best feature has to be the rubber encasing. I had the 512Mb version for six months before losing it. I tend to keep USB drives in my pocket, so inevitably they end up in the washing machine sometimes. The Voyager took at least FIVE trips through both washer and dryer, and it kept working flawlessly nonetheless. And this was without the cap! (which, I can guarantee you, you'll lose within a week).
So overall a performing, durable, and relatively cheap purchase.

I regret buying that USB stick, not fast at all and expensive compared to other flash drives. Also cap is loose and very easy to loose it.

Unfortunately, the great idea here to combine pen and pen drive lacks, as a previous reviewer said, durability. My flash housing separated from the body of the pen and the actual pen portion stopped working months ago.. all in all a bit of a dissapointment

Poor quality.......2007-10-15
Worked well for 3 months. Then fell apart. The steel part that goes into your USB drive fell off. Poor quality. I believe Kingston is a tier-2 company in terms of quality, hence the low price.
Reached Capacity after 24 MB.......2006-04-21
Everything has been working fine until six months and 24mb storage bites later, my Kingston 512MB DataTraveler says it's full every time I try to store Word documents. Mind you, it says I have 488 MB remaining so you can imagine how frustrating this experience is. I'll have to buy another flash drive, maybe a SanDisk.
Update: I subsequently bought a 512MB PNY Attache flash drive and it got overloaded at the same point so apparently the capacity "512" doesn't match up with my iMac's definition.
Great Encrypted Storage.......2005-09-02
I purchased this device because of the current push towards encryption of data at rest. I allocated almost the whole device to the protected zone and am still quite pleased with the speed of the device, even when doing encryption. This is an excellent option for those that need to carry data with them, and may be prone to losing things. Note that US Gov will be requiring encryption on all data (including Unclassified) for use with portable devices. Why not get ahead of the curve.
My only complaint is that the cap has no way to be connected to the body, not even a eyelet or anything.... back to that prone to losing things....
Pros and dislikes of DataTraveller II .......2005-08-16
The pros of this product:
1. The security partition it has. Helps me do a temp backup of my personal projects and docs and no body can see them.
2. The size, it is pretty small, at least smaller than my previous (Jumpdrive 128 mb lexar)
There are few things I don't like:
1. It didn't come with a bandstrip to carry it over the neck
2. I have a bad feeling about I am going to lose the cap. It doesn't get tightly closed as the lexar I had before.
3. Doesn't have a swicth to write protect only.

I think flash drives are fantiastic, but this one was a bit of a hassle setting up the security and deciding how much of the drive to dedicate to the secured portion. (Shouldn't the entire drive be secured??) The instructions were not exceptionally clear, either. It was worth the price for the 1/2 gig, but, could be more user friendly.

A brilliant and effective combination of a USB drive with Wifi detector. As a road warrior who needs frequent connectivity, I can use this well-designed devise to not only let me know if a Wifi signal exists, but whether it's secure or open, the band and other signal details. What I like most about this device is the fact that you can store up to 512 megabytes of information on it as a USB flash drive, but it doubles as a WiFi network detector. You can use it to find a hotspot available wherever your are.
The device plugs into your USB port to double as a 512 MB flash drive and a wireless client device (an 802.11b/g USB network interface card). The adapter supports WPA and WPA2 both Enterprise (needing a RADIUS server) and Personal (also known as pre-shared key) for enhanced security beyond the extremely weak WEP encryption.
The coolest part, to me, was the fact that, since there is a built-in flash drive, the drivers for the device automatically install from the drive. That's right! You can plug this baby into any Windows XP laptop or desktop and configure wireless network access without the need for CDs for device drivers. Wow! What a concept!
I am the author of the Wireless# Certification Official Study Guide and the CWSP (Certified Wireless Security Professional) Certification Official Study Guide from McGraw-Hill, because of this, I've tested and reviewed hundreds of wireless devices. This one tops my list. If you travel a lot, it is a must have. If you want a cool toy (to show off to your friends at work) get it too!
Sadly, they've removed the ability for this device to act like an access point (software-based AP), but that is still in the older TEW-429UB available here at Amazon.com. This older model did not have the 512 MB flash drive. I guess we can't have it all (yet).
