This drive is Ok, but IMHO there are better choices.
I bought the drive because of the retractable usb port, and that is a nice feature. But, when I bought the drive I was unaware of all the junk they put on it; by junk, I mean "features". Although their software hasn't crashed my system, it is unnecessary, uses up valuable space (you are buying a storage device, right?) and makes backing up/ transferring data unnecessarily complicated.
I also own (several) Kingston flash drives- very simple to use. Myself, I prefer the Kingston. What I am looking for in a flash drive is storage, plain & simple. I don't want it adding another backup program, or games...just storage. That's what I get with the Kingston drives, and I will stick with them from now on.

i love this drive, i owned the 1 gig before this one however i have recently moved into a college dorm and found out that an idiot will always find a way to mess things up... a friend plugged it into his desktop computer and walked by kicking the drive side ways therefore breaking the usb that was sticking out...but hey the titanium body was still intact..just empty...
Crash problems.......2007-10-03
Although I never used the U3 application that comes with the Cruzer Titanium, it died anyway. It has become completely unreadable by any computer for no apparent reason. In reading reviews on this and other websites, this seems to be a recurring problem with the Cruzers although most attribute it to the U3 software utility. While the casing does make it extremely rugged and the slide/LED design is both convenient and visible, it means nothing if the drive itself is unstable and can't keep your data secure. While I can't recommend it, if you must buy this product, back up your data regularly or don't trust it with anything you can't afford to lose.
Good product; annoying bloatware.......2007-09-03
I was looking for a capless flash drive so I wouldn't need to keep track of the cap, and the retractable design of this works well. The hardware functions without problems and is even attractive. The case is real metal -- I know because my magnetic bracelet tried to stick to it! (With no harm to either.)
Only warning is that the pre-loaded U3 software tries to load itself every time the drive is inserted into a computer -- REALLY annoying when you are trying to use the drive the transfer files to a colleague and it tries to load onto their machine! Even when de-activated, the U3 thing claims a drive name for itself. I thought it would be fun to try the U3 functions but I'm ready to erase the whole thing to get it to stop trying to take over.

I originally bought this item to transfer files from work to home without the hassle of e-mail attachments and size limitations. It worked flawlessly and was so tiny that I could keep it with me all the time. It's also extremely adorable. Sadly, a few weeks after the purchase, my purse was stolen with the little guy inside, and I went without a flash drive for several months until I finally decided it was worth a second try, and here we are. It's just as good as I remember, and I'm so glad I bought another one. It's just a great teeny-tiny flash drive. If you're looking for a functional, non-hideous drive, this one is for you.

I use a Toughbook and I do a lot of training. I have pictures, powerpoints, documents and more on mine. I liked it so much I bought the other colors and sizes. They are reliable and adorable. It is also a talking point becauseno one that sees it believes it. They can also link together like legos, not for memory, just for fun when you're really bored!

this is an excellent drive with large capacity and no baggage (i.e. stupid software). the only potential downside is that it is REALLY small (in physical dimensions, not storage capacity). I have lost the drive on several occasions only to find it a day later in my pocket or at the bottom of my bag.

Stay away from this thumb drive! My girlfriend made the mistake of buying it and everytime you plug it in, it tries to boot up its software. If there is a way of turning it off, its not easy. SanDisk should not force users to run some time-consuming software when they simply need to copy files to and from the drive.
Other than that, the drive runs fine and works smoothly on Mac and PC. Hey at least on the Mac it doesn't try to run its software.

Cruzer vs. NERO! Cruzer works great if...........2007-09-17
...you don't have NERO installed on your computer. I got my Cruzer and plugged it in to my daughter's laptop and was very impressed. I took it to work and plugged it in to a couple of computers there - impressed my co-workers. But then I plugged it in to my home computer and the computer froze up. Every time I plugged it in, my computer froze. I was getting ready to format my hard drive and re-install Windows (thinking darn Microsoft OS is corrupt again) when I came across a little FAQ on Sandisk's web site saying there was a known incompatiblity with NERO software. I have Nero installed - leading me to think this is the issue since the Cruzer works on all of the other computers I've tried it on. The FAQ said that an update would be released soon to patch this issue - that was a year ago and nothing yet. So, Cruzer will probably work great for you IF you don't have NERO installed.

I got this product a while back and it has helped me a lot because I have a mac and PC and the PC doesn't have win zip i have to transfer it to my Mac to unzip and the Kingston data travel helps me a lot I would recommend this over ANY other flash drive. What I love the most is the size it's small enough to fit in your pocket with your keys and wallet without digging into your skin.

This is probably the cheapest 1 gb flash drive you'll find that's also reliable and durable. I was contemplating on buying an mp3 player that's also a flash drive, but this was just too cheap!

Terrific Little Speaker with Clear, Strong Sound.......2007-09-07
After reading several dozen consumer reviews describing laptop speakers I puchased this one. You simply plug it into your laptop, or USB hub, swivel the gooseneck to position the speaker where you want, and you've got an excellent speaker that fits in a small laptop utility bag.
The only complaint I have is that there is no quick volume control; once you've plugged it into your USB port, it overrides the laptop's volume control "knob". You have to open the volume icon in your Control Panel every time you want to adjust the speaker volume, which can be too slow when you're being blasted by a loud video.
This is not to say that there is anything wrong with the volume modulation in the speaker itself, just that there seems to be a wide volume range across items I view--YouTube, email messages with videos from friends, etc.
If this speaker had a volume control knob it would be perfect!
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR DELL LAPTOPS.......2007-09-02
After several weeks of light, mid-volume use, the speaker stopped working on my Dell Latitude D500 and I began receiving error messages noting a "device malfunction". After trading emails with J-Lab customer service, I was instructed to return the speaker by mail (at my expense) for a refund. The refund I received was 80% of the original purchase price because, according to J-Lab, the device was still "working" upon receipt. The representative handling the return acknowledged that there has, in fact, been a history of compatibility issues with Dell laptops-- in other words, a "working" speaker may not always operate correctly when connected to a Dell laptop. Is trying this speaker on your Dell worth the risk of paying two sets of shipping charges, losing 20% of the purchase price, and spending time emailing representatives and repacking/mailing the device? If not, maybe it's worth considering alternatives.
Are we listening to the same speakers?.......2007-08-08
We bought this speaker for our Gateway M505 Media Laptop on a recent trip. The M505 has reasonable speakers for a laptop, but their volume level isn't quite strong enough for us to be happy--we'd always find ourselves straining to hear dialogue from movies.
From reading the reviews I honestly thought this would solve our problem in a nifty self-contained USB-powered fashion.
For us it didn't.
We found the speakers to be nearly identical to the M505 speakers, and while the B-Flex did give us the tiniest improvement in volume, it wasn't enough to really give us adequate volume, or the "big sound" many reviewers have mentioned. Also, there is no way a speaker the size of these can give the kind of frequency response any level of audiophile would be happy with.
So, who should try out this speaker? If you have standard tinny sounding laptop speakers (the almost nonexistent kind), these will be a big improvement. Also you will like the fact that it is USB powered so no batteries, no cords are needed.
However, having said that, I really think the bottom line is, to get truly better sound, you need to use a powered speaker. I think some of the JBL's may be the way to go.
For cost of these guys, unless you catch them on sale, my advice is to keep looking. We had to return ours. (Thanks to Amazon a really fair & generous return policy).

My boyfriend bought me this speaker. It is plug-and-play. On my computer, often movies are not loud enough for some reason and with this speaker it's as loud as we could possibly want. Also I can blast my music throughout the house from my laptop - before I could not because it sounded horrible at high volumes.
I'm not much of a sound expert, but I think it sounds pretty good.

Good product, bad software.......2007-12-29
I bought this product because I like the retractable drive. I have to say I love it, except for the software. It tends to become annoying (you can remove it) and also makes it load much slower and it is always looking for updates. I only keep some of the software because I like the password function. The product itself is great. I even accidentally washed mine in the washer one time and it still worked with all my files intact. I also liked the cord and used to hang it around my neck, till it got caught between my chest and the edge of a desk and ripped off.

When I purchased this flash drive, I needed to get my files off an ancient computer using Windows Me. I was purchasing a Dell with Windows XP. It worked and northing of value was lost.

The bad things people might say about the Cruzer, seem pretty dull to me.
1. The U3 is a nice aplication software you might find usefull. Takes only a quite small % of the cruzers memory, and in case you dont want it, you could just uninstall it.
2. The Slider is a great idea, i never havee to worry about loosing the cap of the memory. I've used it for about 2 years, almost everyday, several times a day, and it still works perfectly.
3. Some people even complain about the packaging. Come on, just cut it open!!.

I chanced upon this item when I was window shopping at a walmart store. It caught my attention because of it's small size. I picked up one and read the description at the back of the packaging. The description CLEARLY mentioned that there were applications installed in the drive. I was with IT for more than 15 years and I have not heard about U3 smart applications. This concept was exactly what I was always looking for, portable applications installed in a mobile media that I could carry around with me. Computers are everywhere in every place I go and so I do not always need to carry my laptop with me if I can have my favorite applications with me in a portable drive. Even though I was reluctant to buy this drive because I thought it will be as slow as my old jumpdrive (a lexar), I still bought it (with the return policy in mind). I was pleaseantly surprised when I used it. It was fast. It seemed to me that the access speed was as fast as that of my hard drive. I tried a couple of the pre-installed applications inside the drive. They all ran as if they were installed in my PC. I did not need some of the installed applications so I just removed them (it was a breeze). My favorite was the SignUpShield which manages my online passwords.
I gave this item 5 stars because of it's performance and because it is U3 smart. If you do not want U3 applications, it might be better for you to buy drives that are for pure storage only. I honestly think that this product should be negatively reviewed just because it has U3 applications installed. Being U3 smart was an intended feature of this product. If a product has a feature you do not want, you simply do not buy the product. If I do not want a laptop with a windows vista installed, I do not buy that laptop. But I certainly will not give that particular laptop a negative mark just because I do not like windows vista installed with it.

Unless your laptop's soundcard is not working, or your speakers are barely hearable I wouldn't recommend this. Odds are your laptop does as much as these speakers.
It is well built, looks resistant and it does a decent job. Do not expect very good quality.

I like the sound of mine so much I bought one fo my friend for his birthday. It's not super loud but you can listen to music from your mac, with good quality. Just plug it into your USB port. My friend loves his too. He uses his all the time. Great for travel.

I really thought the reviews for this item were probably a little over-blown, but the speakers have proven me wrong. As someone who primarily uses their laptop on the go, I have been looking for a set of small, easily transportable, decent sounding speakers. These fit into all three categories. I am pleasantly surprised by the fullness of the sound that they put out. If you're strictly an audiophile, you'd be better off investing in a good set of Bose headphones, but if you need something to quickly and efficeintly plug and play so other people can hear what is on your laptop, then you won't find a better buy for your money.

Quite a Lemon.......2007-11-12
I had another drive picked out; then I read the good reviews on Amazon about this product. Guess I got a LEMON. About 6 weeks after I received unit, I couldn't access it. I kept getting a message saying disc was not formatted. Did I want to format it? Well, knowing I would lose everything saved on it, I tried a few other things, including their customer service department. Finally, I said "Ok, re-format the darn thing." Got an error message saying it couldn't be re-formatted. I keep trying to get back to customer service at Lexar. No luck yet.
Good little device, and yes the meter actually works........2007-10-20
I like this little guy. I removed all the silly software they put on the drive which I thought may mean the storage meter would not work but it does. It suffers from the same problem that most all these flash drives do however in that the structural capability of the USB connector is somewhat deficient and they can get broken if you accidentally kick or hit the body of the drive while it's plugged into a usb port.
Besides that I'm surprised that they don't put these cool little capacity meters on all the jump drives.

I have gone through several flimsy flash drives and am thrilled to have found one that is actually durable. I picked this after reading an article where it survived exposure to heat, impact and water and continued working after. I like that the cap snaps on solidly so if I want to keep it on a keychain, it won't come flying off. The price is great for the amount of storage as well. I would definitely recommend this product.

THis is a great drive for your money if you use Mac, Windows, and Linux. I use all of them and it works great, I do wish that they had an 8 Gig versions out, but this one will do for now.

The flash drive is great, and works fine, the onlty bad thing is that it is not 2 GB, it is 1.8 GB and where is the rest... I have no idea even if you would do formating the flash drive still the rest of the memory will be only on description on the package. And comparing now the prices it is expensive. But beside those things the jump drive is cute and work very good.
