Noise preventing, noise cancelling.......2007-12-19
Sony makes a set of these that cost $100 more and feature electronic noise cancellation. Frankly, these do the job 85% as well. I can only conclude that the inside-the-ear fit of this style earbud is what really helps with listening in a noisy environment. I use these on airplanes a lot, and even when I'm not listening to anything I'll sometimes use them as earplugs.
Soundwise? I think they're fine. They sound good, and I've never been convinced that the output of my i-thing will sound tremendously better on some $200 or $400 dollar shure/etymyopic buds. I'm sure a layperson could hear _some_ difference, but not enough to worry about (I imagine the kind of person who would worry about that is saving up for a $5000 oxygen-free-copper interconnect.)
Durability-wise, I've used my current pair for three years with no problems. I'd buy these again in a heartbeat.

I have tried many headphones and for the price these are the best. Great sound. This is my second pair my girlfriend took my first pair. The only drawback is that the cords have different lengths for each ear which doesn't make for the best fit.

I've been using these for several months now and love them. The sound quality is great. The design allows them to block out much of the outside noise and they are very comfortable. High quality too.
Good bass response, missing some of the highs.......2007-12-18
As an in-ear headphone, these were fairly comfortable. They also did a good job of drowning out ambient noise. The bass response was good, but the high-end frequencies were missing. A little muddy sounding in the highs, not as crisp as a set of Bose headphones, but definitely good value for the money.

Have been disappointed in the standard iPod earbuds for both the sound quality and because I could not run without them falling out. On reflection many of the standard ear phones fell out when I jog and this is the first pair which stays in and yet is very comfortable. Good sound too,

I had a pair of these and was very pleased with how comfortable they were compared to the ones that came with my 4th gen iPod. But the cord began showing signs of wear quite fast (about a month after I got them), and then the left ear bud suddenly fell apart. I'd never mishandled them or anything. My inexpensive Skullcandy ear buds sound just as good and have lasted much longer, and I feel like an idiot for forking over twice as much for these.

Also, I traveled with them around the world and they are very comfortable. I even use them as ear plugs when I need to sleep in a noisy place or weed-out disruptions. Do be careful crossing streets as they take out almost all noise if you have the volume up! My favorite headphones by far, white or black!
