Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Great sound, painful fit.......2007-12-20

I picked these up locally, having wanted a set of wireless headphones for my office.

- Sounds great. I start to get choppiness about 50 feet away from the base, but that's plenty for me, I really just want them for the 6 feet in my cube!.

- Battery life is OK, not great. Lasts maybe 4 hours of continuous play, which isn't long enough for me.

- Fit is horrible. My ears ache after wearing them for 15 minutes. They don't sit on my ears right, constantly having to fiddle with them and adjust them.

I would not buy these headphones again and would not recommend you do so.

5 out of 5 stars These definetly fit the bill!.......2007-12-20

I was a bit worried after first purchasing these but I'm completely satisfied now that I have them up and running. I listen to the radio through my computer at work and needed something that was reliable but didn't tether me to my computer by the cord. These headphones work perfectly, they allow me to type at my computer and freely walk around the room and never get disconnected. They are also very comfortable and fit well over the ears with surgical rubber ear hooks. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge charge the item.

2 out of 5 stars Very uncomfortable.......2007-12-12

Sound quality is OK but the loops around your ears are very uncomfortable. Can't wear for over an hour.

2 out of 5 stars Just the sound.......2007-12-08

I should have paid more attention to the review comments telling me these headphones were uncomfortable. I already own a behind-the-neck wired headset from Logitech and they are quite comfortable. This wireless set; however, is poorly designed for human beings and they don't fit my cat either.

The 'phones and base unit have a hidden link code, so I could not pair the 'phones with my iPAQ; this is very irritating.

The batteries for both the base & 'phones are built-in rechargeable so the life of the batteries is the life of the product. The charge on the 'phones lasts maybe 3 hours, not so good at all.

I own several Logitech products and am quite satisfied with both the design and value of these items. The FreePulse unit is an exception to this. They pretty much suck.

The sound is great though.

4 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-12-06

Seriously, being able to rock out wirelessly is such a godsend! I feel that they are very comfy on my ears and very easy simple and straightforward to use. No software just plug and play...also great sound and so lightweight! I dont share the dissapointment that others had with these. I think they are worth every penny.

Acoustic Research AW-871 Wireless Stereo Speakers

Product Description

Audiovox became a pioneer in the wireless industry, selling its first vehicle-installed wireless telephones in 1984 as a natural expansion of its automotive aftermarket business. Its extensive distribution network and its long-standing industry relationships have allowed Audiovox to benefit from growing market opportunities in the wireless industry and to exploit niches in the consumer electronics business.

Amazon.com Product Description

Anyone who has installed a speaker system knows the worst part is figuring out how to hide the unsightly speaker cables, especially if your speakers are located across the room from the receiver. Enter this pair of Acoustic Research stereo speakers, which resolves the dilemma by eliminating speaker wires altogether. The system's powerful transmitter broadcasts its 900 MHz signal through walls, floors, ceilings, and other obstacles, giving listeners a wide array of installation options. Looking for a pair of high-quality speakers for the upstairs bedroom? No problem. Want to enjoy your favorite tunes in the basement without running speaker wire through the floor? Easy. Thanks to the system's 300-foot range, almost any home speaker scenario is possible, including positioning the speakers outdoors so you can provide the soundtrack for your neighborhood block party. And fortunately for listeners, the wireless setup doesn't compromise the quality of the audio, as the rich signal is drift- and static-free.

Each 10-watt speaker employs a 4-inch woofer and 1-inch dome tweeter, with a left/mono/right switch for added versatility. The speakers also include integrated power, volume, and tuning controls along the front faces. In lieu of an AV receiver, listeners can connect the speakers directly to most audio sources, including TVs, DVD players, VCRs, computers, and portable audio devices such as MP3 players. Alternately, they can connect the speakers to the rear channels of 5.1 surround sound receivers and take full advantage of the wireless design. Each of the speakers comes with its own AC adapter, though listeners can also install eight C-cell batteries per speaker for complete cordless use. The speakers even recharge ni-cad and NiMH batteries when plugged into an AC adapter. Other accessories include a 1/4-inch headphone adapter and a "Y" cable that connects the transmitter to the audio source.

What's in the Box
Two speakers, transmitter, AC power adapter for transmitter, two AC power adapters for speakers, Y adapter cable, 1/4-inch headphone adapter, user's manual.

3 out of 5 stars Has it's +s and -s.......2007-12-25

I just received my Amazon purchase. Lucky for me that I already own 2 sets of these to know that this newer set is not working well. The manufacturer has also changed a very integral part of the transmitter (a volume level on its back) it seems.

First, they work fine for talk radio on mono. They are great to run a talk radio show on my MP3 player while I am out shopping. Chatter in a house with all these gangs from south of our border is helpful... ;-)

These transmitters also work great coupled with their 900mhz wireless headphones. They give my headphones a bit of a boost, so I wanted a 3rd set, not for the speakers, but for the transmitter. As I said, I have two, so a third back up would be nice. I run two (one in the front room and another in a back room (one being unhooked obviously).

Now for the fun stuff:

1) These speakers (not transmitters) have suddenly died on me for no reason. If I didn't have two sets, yes, their customer service could feed it to me as they did for another customer here. Unfortunately for them, they would have been hard-pressed to answer why one speaker is dead and the other three are dandy. What I am saying that after using these for a few years, I have had to return several sets to Best Buy whence they came (I purchased extended warranties, which I would advise you to do if you buy these.)

2) On many of my sets, either the lights did not work properly out of the box or they died in time. On this set, they are blue on the transmitter out of the box, when the power is hooked up. NONE of my prior sets have ever done this. They are supposed to be blue on the front of the transmitter after the sound begins to play to the speaker. That way you know blinks rates, etc. If the transmitter is not blinking while playing sound, turn down your volume. This new set is always a solid blue, and there is no way to adjust its back or to know if something is wrong. Well, there is something wrong---it's light never goes off! Even when I am sleeping-waaaa.

3) I am not sure if this is caused by the blue light on the transmitter, but when I hit PLAY on my sound source, my o my do my headphones freak. So do my old AW-871 speakers (I have bothered undoing the new speakers, since these defects are going back.) I am going to lose my hearing from this for sure. It is a sound that it makes at first, that my other two sets does not, nor should these. I am going to guess that without the volume at the back of the transmitter, they turned it up wide, but even with my MP3 player and headphones almost all the way down, the sound is still going down.

Bottom line is that these can be great and irreplaceable for what I use them for, BUT they are not made well, never have been, and I don't think that their new version has fixed a thing. Rather than fixing problems, they just made them even cheaper. Goody

3 out of 5 stars AR AW871 wireless speakers.......2007-12-20

The wireless speakers are great and they were very easy to install. My only disappointment is that the volume is controlled on the speakers themselves; no longer can I turn the volume up or down on my receiver, and my remote for the reciever is useless. It's not a major drawback since I don't play music a lot. I would think if I did, that would be a problem. If AR would come up with a remote for these speakers, that would help.

1 out of 5 stars Worst buy ever!!.......2007-12-10

These speakers worked great for about a month and then all of a sudden they lost signal and stopped working altogether. Tried to contact the company, they siad there was must be to much interference in my home, this was causing them not to work.

4 out of 5 stars Great for a party.......2007-12-09

I purchased this as a gift to my parents so they could have outdoor parties. We love it. The sound is fair to good depending on the signal, but it served its purpose for bringing the music outside. The good thing is that the music still plays on the stereo inside while the speakers are on. We have also used it with our iPod and it was fabulous as well. Great buy!

2 out of 5 stars Not the very best........2007-11-09

Acoustic Research AW-871 Wireless Stereo Speakers It was easy to install, and the sound is good. I have a problem with a popping sound. Even when the stereo is off. One or both of the speakers will pop on and off, for no apparent reason.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Good value for the money.......2007-12-25

I was looking for a relatively inexpensive Bluetooth stereo headphone to go with my Samsung Juke. This unit has excellent value and the sound is very good. It takes a bit of getting used to the way it works as you need to tap on the sides to start it up and use the telephone. The switches on the cups are a bit small. I like the comfort of the unit.

My only concern and this is because of the type of headphone it is, is when you sweat working out the sponges are going to get nasty.

4 out of 5 stars Really enjoying them..........2007-12-24

I've had these for several weeks now. I first bought them to use with my Dell Axim X51V PDA and my 4-year-old Sony laptop. I could not get them to work with either device, after several hours of trying and a lot of Internet browsing. It appears that neither device, as currently configured, supports Bluetooth stereo. Rather than go any further with trying to upgrade the devices, I just bought the Jabra Bluetooth music adaptor (BT120). It plugs into the audio output (where you'd plug in headphones) of any device (including TVs) and beams the Bluetooth signal to the headphones. I can still use the pause and volume control features on the headphones, just not the 'next track' feature, and now I can use them with any device that puts out audio, Bluetooth-compatible or not, so no messing with software drivers to make them work. All you have to do is go through the initial pairing process, which is easy.

I personally find the headphones themselves very comfortable, and I like the 'back of the head' style. After a little bit of trying, I have found a comfortable position for wearing them in bed. They are seriously nerdy looking, especially with the flashing blue lights, so I wouldn't wear them outside the house, but they're great for walking around inside while listening to music. I've also been using them in the bathtub, since the PDA or MP3 player can now be safely at a distance but close enough for me to change folders.

5 out of 5 stars Works great with Best Buy's Insigna MP3.......2007-12-23

Works great with Best Buy's Insigna MP3. Does not pair with The Nextel/Motorola i880 for the MP3 part. However, it will take calls while listening to another device.

4 out of 5 stars Great Product for the price!.......2007-12-21

I really like this product, I found it had a lot more features that I didn't know were even possible. I am new to the bluetooth world and was really impressed. I like the ability to take calls while the headphones are on. The headphones will automatically pause your music when a call comes in, and the mic is built right in so you can just start talking.
I like to keep reviews fairly short, so here are my good points:
-awesome deep and full sound
-long life between charges
-controls for music and volume right on the headset.
-awesome range, sometimes I forgot where my phone was and kept on jammin.
-cool indicator lights tell you if your battery is good, low are charging(blue, red and green)

A few things I disliked.
-no lock button, the headphones are easy to turn on with a push of the side buttons that can often get tapped in a backpack.
-there is no way to turn off all the blue flashing lights so you will draw some unwanted attention at times.

5 out of 5 stars audible listeners.......2007-12-12

This review is intended primarily for audible book fans who spend long hours listening to books while multitasking (chores). Those who spend their listening time sitting or laying down don't really need wireless, multitaskers do. For example, recently I was deep into a tale using a pair of wired buds while working in my shop. Halfway through ripping a long board on the tablesaw, one of the buds fell out and became entangled in the saw. I'm not a real safety freak, but this seems excessive risk to me. I didn't lose any fingers, but did lose my peace of mind and missed hearing several minutes of the book. Sure I could have fished the player from its protective lair and turned it off for a minute, removing the buds, storing all neatly away. But I didn't. And probably won't.

With these wonderful bluetooth headphones and my Palm TX, my safety issues are history. No entangling cables, great sound, long battery life and a comfortable, secure fit. Most importantly, tapping the side of the headphones lets me pause while doing something noisy. Another tap and I'm back listening where I left off. I can also adjust the volume from the headphones. If I'm not wearing pockets or sweating, I can lay my Palm TX nearby. They say these headphones will also work with a bluetooth phone, letting you pause a book to chat. I don't know. I usually leave my cell on the charger in my off hours. If it's important, email. If its urgent, call 911.

How 'bout all those lights! Actually, you only see them when you're holding the phones in your hand, when they are helpful. Or when charging, when they're less helpful. Plugging in the charger will light up a dark room with an eerie red glow. Guess that's why Jabra throws in a thick black bag. When you're wearing them, you don't see the lights. Others do. That's not all bad. The flashing blue light is like one of those orange flags on a long pole people put on bicycles--funky but effective. When the blue light is flashing it is warning to others that you are listening to a book and if they approach with unimportant chit chat, they will be DISTURBING you.

If you use these headphones with a device running the Palm OS, you will need to purchase a little program from Softick called Audio Gateway. Softick's folks will help you with any problems you might have getting up and running. In short, with this software, a pair of these headphones and a Palm TX, life is better for multitasking audible listeners.

1 out of 5 stars They are trashcan bound..........2007-12-21

These headphones are simply no good. First they arrived with stone-dead rechargable batteries. I had to pay to replace them. Now they work, but very intermittently and the sound quality is miserable - lots of static and frequent loud squeals and squawks. Don't waste your time and money. What has happened to JVC? They used to be a respectable company.

2 out of 5 stars Great sound, a bit hard to handle.......2007-12-10

The audio quality of these headphones is good, but the power and channel buttons on the ear cones are too easy to press accidentally.

Also, the headphones produce wireless interference with your head at certain angles.

The headphones are big and bulky and make it hard to lie down and watch.

5 out of 5 stars Works as great as I hoped!.......2007-12-01

Took a long time for the initial charging, but it works great. It has good sound, the volume is adjustable, and has held charge for a long time.

1 out of 5 stars Will return it tomorrow.......2007-11-24

I bought one from CircuitCity because I am suspicious that I might need to return it, although JVC is a brand I didn't have bad experience so far. This headphone is a real disappointment. Not only it has static noice, hard to charge, but 5 out of 10 times it cannot pick up the signal at all. I tried everything and it worked eventually, but I don't know which action causes this. Sometimes it did get the signal from the beginning, but after charging for a while, it cannot pick up the signal again. The instruction is not helpful either.
Anyway, I am quite disappointed at the product. Will return it tomorrow.

4 out of 5 stars A value for the money........2007-11-19

Sound quality is good. Unit is a little bulky. Battery time is great. I'd buy again. Hope they come out with a smaller model.

1 out of 5 stars Wireless headphones? Does it means sound quality?.......2007-12-14

I bought this wireless headphones expecting at least good sound quality. It didn't fit my expectations because the sound quality is poor and sometimes it gets some kind of interference and you have to tune it constantly. Anyway this headphones are good to use in watching movies or tv but not to listen hi-fi music.

4 out of 5 stars Good sound, easy to recharge, wireless freedom.......2007-12-10

SOUND QUALITY: 4 out of 5
These headphones produce a flat sound (treble and bass don't overpower the mids). The bass tends to kicks in more as the volume is increased. Wireless reception is fairly clear, however some hiss/whitenoise is audible if the volume is set high on the headset. This seems to be a common issue for any 900 MHz headphones. To minimize the hiss, it helps to turn up the volume on the input source (TV, stereo, PC, etc.) as much as possible and try not to max out the volume on the headset. A stronger signal from the source will also give you more range and minimize interference. I have a 5.8 GHz phone, 802.11g wifi (2.4 GHz), GSM mobile phone (1900 MHz), and an LCD TV all within 10 ft of the base and haven't noticed any interference problems. If you move around a lot, it may experience some interference similar to terrestrial radio the farther you get from the base.

COMFORT: 4 out of 5
The cans are about 1/4" deep, so they press down on my ears a little. I can wear them for a couple hours before I start to feel a little discomfort around my ears. But at least they are relatively light and don't cause any major neck strain for me. They might even be okay to wear while running on a treadmill, though I haven't tried it. I am a size 7 hat size, but these headphones should have no problems fitting larger heads. The top headband is cushioned and the earpieces are adjustable on all 3-axis. The cans block out about 30% of the exterior noise, so you can definitely still have a conversation with them on.

BATTERIES/CHARGING: 3 out of 5
To charge the batteries, you just set the headphones into the base and the charging light will turn on. It really is idiot proof and I don't understand how anyone would have problems. The batteries are standard NiMH rechargeable batteries and go into the left earpiece. Some negative points: The charge indicator shows a red color when charging, but there's no indicator to show when the batteries are fully charged. Also, I can hear a very high pitched noise/squeal when the headphones are charging on the base (possibly a defective unit). Most people may not notice it, but if you have sensitive ears, it may annoy you if you are within a feet away of the base while charging. I usually charge mine overnight while I'm sleeping, so it's not a big enough reason to exchange it. You can also remove the batteries and recharge them in a separate charger. Non-rechargeable alkaline AAA batteries may be used as well (don't charge them in the base however).

CONTROLS: 4 out of 5
The power button, volume, and fine tuning controls are on the right earpiece. I had no problem tuning it to pick up the signal from the base. Once it's tuned, you rarely have to adjust it. You will know when the batteries are low because the volume will get lower or sound will cut out because it's too weak to pick up the base signal. If you plan to use these headphones with your TV, be sure your TV allows you to adjust the volume when outputting via RCA or headphone jack.

CONCLUSION:
It's obvious the AW722 doesn't output reference quality sound, but for $50 I think it serves its intended purpose well. If you want better sound isolation and higher wireless fidelity, you'll have to spend a lot more or go with wired headphones. But for casual listening to music or when watching TV, these headphones will give you the freedom to move about and do other things without getting tangled up in a cord.

1 out of 5 stars Keeps ears warm - but ear muffs come in more colors........2007-12-10

Comfortable headphones for keeping ears warm, not much else. Purchased for product features, including charger. Charger did not work after 2 days. Headphones stopped working after 8 hours gentle use--transmitter kept sending signals though. Very disappointed in product - would not recommend - loose wires, poor reliability.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with Plasma TV's!.......2007-12-02

I purchased this headset mainly for watching movies. To my surprise I got terrible static with it and then I saw on page 12 of the manual that plasma displays may interfere with normal operation. I was very disappointed, but Amazon agreed to take this item back for full credit instead of an 80% credit since it was opened.

I use this all the time. it is so comfortable that you forget you are wearing it. the ear piece is very comfortable, and the mic is wonderfully sensitive.
the only improvement I could suggest would be a "answering" button on the line from phone to ear piece/mic...

This is a good value for the price paid. However, even though the product seems new, there was not formal packaging. It just came in a sealed small plastic bag. I don't remember anything that showed me the product was new, which is what I wanted. I must say, though, it is working fine so far.

Product Description

The Pioneer SE-DIR800C Infrared Wireless Surround Sound Headphones simulate 5.1 channel speakers to create high quality surround-sound like what you'll experience from a traditional home theater. These headphones process Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS surround sound from a gaming console, DVD player, or CD player connected through the optical or coaxial input. The SE-DIR800C headphones offer super-soft earphone enclosures so the entire ear is cushioned for greater comfort. Die-hard video gamers, movie and music enthusiasts now have a new ally in the fight to be entertained at any time -- and at the decibel level of their preference. Amazon.com Product Description

Don't let a sleeping family keep you from your new action adventure movie, DTS 5.1 concert, or online video game tournament by setting up these Pioneer wireless surround sound headphones. The SE-DIR800C phones, which connect to any 5.1-channel source--including a DVD player, game console, digital cable box, or satellite receiver--are equipped with Dolby Headphone technology, which produces up to five virtual loudspeakers in your head by directing and reflecting the sound from each channel. The effect is a stunning surround experience, far more dimensional than with typical headphones, and, some say, even better than with a high-performance surround speaker system. The audio is natural sounding and doesn't cause "listener fatigue" as do many other headphones. The phones also work with a variety of surround formats, including Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Surround.

Most conveniently, the SE-DIR800C phones are completely cordless. The small wireless transmitter connects to your source (DVD player, game console, etc.) and broadcasts a clear, strong signal via infrared technology to the headphones. Thanks to the wireless technology, you won't snag a headphone cord on furniture, your dog, your glasses, or anything else.

The phones feature a trio of "virtual room" presets from which to choose. The options actually reproduce the sound of a playback system in up to three different listening environments based on the acoustic measurements of real rooms. The small room setting (DH1) re-creates a small, well-damped room with very little reverberation that's perfect for both movies and music-only recordings, while the medium room (DH2) is a more acoustically live (or "wet") room that's well suited to both formats as well (with moderate reverberation). Meanwhile, the large room setting (DH3) offers a bigger sound, more like the audio within a concert hall or movie theater.

A final bonus stems from the onboard volume control. With a volume dial on the headphone itself, users can easily turn up the audio without getting out of the chair. The SE-DIR800C phones, which offer a transmission range of up to 26 feet, are an ideal choice for folks who live in busy households where people go to sleep early, or for anyone who wants a little audio privacy while watching movies or listening to music. The phones are backed by a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

2 out of 5 stars Limited range.......2007-12-05

The sound from the headphones is great. However, the range is very limited. I put my hand up and it immediately blocked the signal from the receiver to the headphones and the sound would cut out. I had no idea that the headphones had such a short range. I thought that it would have the same capabilities of a cordless phone not realizing that technology isn't as advanced as I imagined. I would not recommend this product especially for the price you pay.

1 out of 5 stars Bass Response of a $9 headphones.......2007-11-26

Tried it on 2 DVD Players and a Mac-Pro with Digital Out and the response is pathetic. One wonders what sort of movies on 5.1 were tested in the designing of this headphones. The quality of the output is analogous to turning a contemporary 5.1 movie and making it sound like a scratchy old Maria Callas Vinyl. From Lang's Metropolis to Lord of the Rings uniformly sound lifeless with these headphones.

Since it was a birthday gift, it was opened well after 30 days of purchase - the disappointment is costly. Perhaps it will be used for some old film noire from Criterion, late at night when I do expect the entire film industry to refrain from low bass frequencies in those productions... hopefully too tired to then wonder why I am not using those plain old $9 headphones that's lying under some nails, bolts and junk in the garage.

2 out of 5 stars Good sound, but mechanical issues.......2007-11-25

I agree with most of the other reviews as to sound quality and ease of use (many of the complaints are just part of the nature of IR headsets, can't change that).

My issue is with the mechanical nature of the assembly of the headset unit. I've had two sets of these literally break one earphone unit off each year. I purchased a replacement headset, and that one just broke, also. Both, of course, broken after the warrantee period. For the cost of these, they are too flimsy, mechanically.

I use them only for television viewing (since I'm a bit hard of hearing), about 2-4 hours a night, and with that usage, just taking the headset off and on once or twice a night, they just break. I'm very careful with my equipment, and this is ridiculous.

If you have a set of these, look at where the earphone is attached (it swivels slightly) to the over-the-head arms. Right there is where it snaps, and there's no way to fix it.

I'm about to go back to a wired headset, since this is about the only wireless headset that I could find that hooked into my A/V receiver's optical port perfectly. But the mechanical design (and the difficulty of purchasing just the headset) is poor.

Except for that, I love them. Oh yeah, forget the rechargable batteries. Use normal alkaline AAs. Much easier and less fuss.

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good wireless headphones with a few caveats.......2007-11-23

I am a night creature, which until I moved in with my new roommate was not an issue. Unfortunately, he is a bit of a light sleeper, so if I wished to continue to watch movies at 2am, I was going to need a set of headphones.

I knew from the start that wireless was going to be the only option for me, and I set about on an exhaustive four day hunt online for the best ones I could find, and the Pioneer SE-DIR800C really stood out. of course, so did the price; $300 is a lot to spend on what I considered to be a novelty item, but it was the only one that delivered on both sound and connection performance, so I took the plunge.

And so far, I could not be happier, with a few minor annoyances.

SOUND: GOOD
It really creates surprisingly accurate sound, though all of it sounds just a tad mechanical and tinny. It has several Dolby Pro Logic modes that all sound equally good, and it even manges to reproduce surround sound in a reasonably enjoyable way.

CONNECTIVITY: EXCELLENT
As long as I am in front of the device, it never looses connection. Never. it never pops, or crackles, or goes silent at all, no matter how I move my head, even when I am lying down. However, a suggestion: Don't turn the headphones on until you get your TV and cable box on first; I get some loud popping if I do that in the wrong order.

Of course, these are line of sight headphones. You have to be in front of the device for them to work, though I have found I can be directly to the side of them with no loss in connection at all.

And there are plenty of audio inputs (1 analog, 1 coaxial, 1 optical) in the back and a clear and simple way to switch between those inputs (though lacking a remote, which is slightly tedious)

BATTERY: DECENT
I seem to be getting about 12-14 hours from the two rechargeable AA batteries that come with the headphones, which is quite good in my opinion. The fact that the base station also charges the batteries is a nice touch, but I was disappointed that you actually have to remove the batteries from the headphones and insert them into the base for this to work. It is a minor annoyance, but I find myself putting regular batteries in while charging the ones that came with it, which kind of defeats the purpose.

DESIGN: POOR
It is just so damn ugly. It is 1970's Battlestar Galactica ugly. Carrot Top ugly. The headphones themselves are actually rather pleasing in their form; simple and understated. The base station, however, looks like someone stuffed Christmas lights into a digital alarm clock from 1990, complete with large, round plastic buttons all across the top. The entire front of the device is constantly aglow with green and red LED lights. It's like a condensed version of Kitt's dashboard next to your television. It looks it belongs in an old Devry commercial. It is really, really ugly.

COMFORT: GOOD
I have found I can wear the headphones for about 2 to 4 hours without having to shift them. I have good sized ears and I can still tuck them perfectly into the headphones. they are lightweight, and with a few pillows propped and folder behind my head, I can wear them lying down with no discomfort.

3 out of 5 stars Click, Click and battery charging.......2007-11-16

Having spent a large amount of time searching for Dolby Digital headphones online, I was a bit disappointed with this set. The most annoying is having to remove the batteries from the head set to place them in the charger in contrast to just placing the headset in a charger. Also there is a clicking sound when the transmitted signal is interrupted or the head set is turned at extreme angles.

The sound quality is excellent and the headset is comfortable.

3 out of 5 stars Good for most applications.......2007-12-01

The MDR-RF925RK headphones worked really well with my Ipod and another stereo I tried (better than I expected!) but they had trouble with the TASCAM 2488 digital recorder that I wanted to use them with. The recorder is an 24 track "digital studio" that I use for recording instruments (guitars mostly). I wanted the wireless connection so I could roam freely while playing and recording the guitars. But for some reason the headphones have a lot of noise when used in combination with the recorder. I may try the infrared type.

4 out of 5 stars Wirless head phone.......2007-10-27

Having a hearing loss we had to keep the T V louder than normal. This solved the problem as the family can listen to the T V at normal level, and I can hear with the wireless headphones. And they are glad that I no longer ask, "what did they say?"

The reception quality is good, and walking to different rooms, I did not loose reception.

I hooked the transmitter to the T V using the extra audio jacket on the T V. This way the T V sound stays on. This was not in the hook up information instructions. If you hook the receiver to the phone jack, it disables the T V speakers.

A connecting cord (phone plug, stereo miniplug) comes with it. I bought an extra one. That way I plugged the connecting cord into the headset jack on the radio, and the other one into headset jack on the receiver of the headless phone. This way I can leave the transmitter (which holds the headset also) in one spot. If both the radio and TV are on at the same time, you can just disconnet one, otherwise when listening to only one, you just pick up the headset, and it turns on automatically, and you don't have to do anything.

For the price, it can't be beat.

1 out of 5 stars A piece of crap, don't waste your money.......2007-10-14

To put it simple: don't buy this product. The sound quality is sub par and the reception is horrible. There is no bass what-so-ever. Even the free headphones that come with the iPod are better quality. On top of this, the volume is way too low, even on max. To make matters even worse, the reception is shabby, There are 3 preset channels, all of them equally as bad. All the time you will hear this constant static in the background. This is an issue with most wireless headsets (analog ones) but its really bad with this model. Even with the volume on max, the static sounds louder. Its really that bad.

The sound quality is just lackluster on all accounts. It seems like its running a high-pass filter on the soundwave because it simply destroys music. Especially with electronica, you will lose like half of the sounds (most importantly theres *no* bass). For watching movies it muddies everything with the static so voices are more difficult to understand. Even playing online games, these headphones are a disadvantage. The stereo sound is not that great. Audiophiles steer clear.

Just to re-iterate, this product is really a complete piece of crap, I've never reviewed a product so bad. I thought since it was a Sony, it would be better than the $20 RCA wireless headphones I've got, but they aren't. I still use them sometimes just for the convenience of wireless, but aside from that these headphones are just worthless. I know they look really cool, they are actually comfortable and have that fancy wireless charging battery, but if the sound quality blows, whats the point?

4 out of 5 stars Great choice for wireless headphones.......2007-09-21

I can't believe that I haven't found reviews for this product! I got a system so my wife could listen to the TV while watching in bed and not have the sound disturb others. I got this one because -1- it is RF as opposed to infrared so if she goes into another room she can still hear the sound, -2- has "drop-in" inductive charging of the rechargeable batteries as opposed to teeny-tiny contacts, -3- is from a well-known manufacturer as opposed to some off-brand, -4- it had switch-able frequencies to diminish the chance of interference with other 900MHz devices (I had to look at Sony's website for that), -5- the price is reasonable because of the quality reputation of Sony, and -6- it was available from [...] as opposed to some fly-by night company.
I was very pleased to find that it had arrived with the right cable (mini stereo to RCA L&R plugs) AND it works with devices that have RCA jacks OR mini stereo jacks because the transmitter has both types! We are fortunate that the TV has a headphone jack (unusual for the size of the tube) and it cuts off the TV speaker.
The sound in the headphones is amazing - so much better than sound from the speakers in any of the TVs in the house. I may get some of these instead of a surround-sound system for the family room.

Earforce X3 Wireless Chat+game

Product Description

PC gamers rely on headphones to eliminate distracting noise around them, so they can concentrate on their game play and hear every nuance of the game audio. Stereo headphones with an integrated PC microphone are incompatible with the Xbox 360, so gamers are forced to choose between using standard headphones and talking online. Conventional Xbox communicator headsets cover one ear for chat, leaving only a single ear for hearing game audio from the speakers. The Ear Force X3 overcome this problem by pumping game audio AND online chat through high-fidelity headphones to deliver the privacy, clarity, and competitive edge of PC headphones on the Xbox 360 platform. They're also designed to enhance the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming experience by enabling the user to independently control volume of amplified chat and game audio - a first for wireless headphones. Designed for premium sound, the X3s feature 40mm drivers in each ear cup and are powered by low distortion DC-coupled amplifiers for deep, rich bass sound. Engineered for long-gaming sessions, the headphones incorporate a soft, cushioned, adjustable headband, deep ear pads and tilting ear cups to fit the contours of the gamer's head. No matter if your priority is physical comfort, headset options or audio clarity, the Ear Force X3 wireless Xbox headphones will hold up to the test. Headset usable with other gaming systems (mic for Xbox 360 only)

3 out of 5 stars Good deal BUT>>>.......2007-10-25

First thing first, Amazon has the best price for this than anywhere else. The headphones are good. They produce good sound and the mic is good. The headset has the function to control your volume as well as in game volume. Here is where it kind of goes down hill. I was recently playing HALO3 with it. I noticed that EVERY time there was a grenade toss, vehicle explsion, and even the 50 cal on the back of the warthog was fired the sound would just cut off. It seems as though the headset just cancels it out completely which of course takes you out of the game. I tried turning off the bass boost, and yet the samething happened again. It's like a dropped call, you can get it back but its so annoying. I tried it with other games and the best thing to do is lower the game volume which kinda sucks cause that was the point of the headset to HEAR the game without diturbing others.
The red & white plugs right to the back of your 360. I have home theater with digital sound so it left the R&W slots open just for this device. The sensors are on the headset but the signal box must plug into the wall. If your like me you already have a jungle of cords behind the tv and not enough room for another plug for power. Why it couldn't use the usb for power, I don't know.
The device loses cool points for being so blocky. My fiance constantly laughs when she sees me with it and can't understand why she is marrying a geek.
Also, you can listen to movies without disturbing neighbors. You don't even have to turn on the controller. It uses 2 AAA which doesn't suck power from the controller.
Good price, good quality, Hear ambience you may not have noticed before.
Lose cool points, Too many explosions the headset just cancels out the noise.

After using the X3 for 2 days, the microphone quit working which negates their usefulness while playing online. The background hum that is mentioned is always present (ambient noise) but its not too noticeable while playing.

Follow-up note. Turtle Beach's support site says about the connecting cable to the controller :

"In fact this issue appears in 'epidemic'
numbers, overshadowing any other issue with our Headphones. No kidding here!We are sorry but this is not a manufacturing defect as some have suggested."

I'm sorry but there is a design or manufacturing defect with this cable. Mine was not abused and stored when not in use but yet it promptly failed.

3 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-10-19

Since I cannot change the star grade a provided originally, I am writing this new review and providing a full 5/5. I had a snaffu with batteries, thinking this puppy was consuming batteries at an abnormal rate. After realizing that the batteries I originally used were not Alkaine and the rechargeable batteries were not fully charged, well how the heck was I expecting over 10 hours of use?

It's a great headset that has helped me listen to sounds I did not know existen in my games (since I always played with the volume down).

As a wishlist for the next headset, if an X4 is in design and development - lithium batteries and 5.1 audio.

Turtle Beach has fantastic customer service. They are quick to answer and on the money when providing guidance.

Peace

5 out of 5 stars Good for games and Movies.......2007-10-11

I have never used headphones so I am still getting used to them. After having them on for about an hour it hurts my right ear a little from the way they fit but it is probably just an adjustment thing. As far as sound they are fantastic. They are not surround sound but they work very well. I can stay up and play XBOX with them on the TV in the bedroom and my wife can sleep no problem. It really immerses you in the game. They also kill outside noise in the room. If my wife talks to me (she is 3 foot away) I dont hear her and when she touches my arm to get my attention it usually scares me because I am so into the game. They are also great for my insomnia because I can watch a movie and she can sleep at the same time. Ok, it doesn't HELP with the insomnia but makes dealing with it better.
Oh, they also almost weigh nothing. This makes them feel a little cheap but they are very well made. You just have to get over the "heavy is quality" mentality. They are designed that way and you don't even notice them on your head about 20 seconds after you put them on. They work exactly like they should.
