This is a nice 4 GB drive, especially for the price. It comes clean, no preloaded crapware. It seems very sturdy and the purple and white color scheme is quite appealing. I dinged by one star because the cap is not attached to the drive. It will attach to the back when you have it plugged in (but not well if you attach the included string to the lanyard), but this is still a recipe for losing the cap eventually. That might just be me, though--if that doesn't bother you, this is the drive to buy.

I'm very happy with the product - But I was at first baffled by the encryption option, because I did not read anything about it being on there. I was not wanting or needing any encrytion. I have now bypassed this and am very happy and will be buying another one or two in the future.

Don't buy this flash drive, after 1 month it just died on me. It will not activate on any computer, no light on the drive, no indication on the computer that a USB device was plugged in. It's simply dead weight. a real shame since i had all my passwords installed on there using roboform, and all the utilities i use to fix other peoples computer. Any ideas to recover files would be helpful... but be forewarned.
Great Flash Drive.......2007-11-20
This Flash Drive is excellent. I have had it for 3 months now and it is one of my best flash drives. It performs great and is just as good as my Sandisk Titanium. I like the rubber body's feel and durability. It came with a broad neck strap which I do not use, a extension cable for the usb, and a mini cd with TrueCrypt on it. Overall if you can get this at a reasonable price you can not go wrong.

This flash drive works very well. I am able to get 7-8 MB/s write and 12-13 MB/s read times. If you really want to have a fast drive, then go for one of the corsair 'red wing' drives, but they cost twice as much. The rubber on the outside gives it a secure feel. Just don't lose the cap!
It is smaller than it looks in the picture. I would not recommend keeping it on your keychain, as the hole in it is just through the rubber and seems like it would break if attached to a keychain. Also, it will pick up lint easily if kept in your pocket.

I bought this flash drive, because i needed some place to store my music. I know, a lot of people have 20, 40, or 80 gig ipods. I don't need that much or want that much. My stereo has a USB input and so I thought that i could use this device to store all my music "in" my stereo. I only filled it up halfway with music, but it works extremely well. Corsair made this Flash Drive to be durable as well, and that fits my standards very well, 'cause I'm always runnin' around and my keychain is constantly bouncing around. Transporting the drive on my keychain works just fine.
In short, love it 'cause it's got a lot of space, really affordable, and it's extremely durable.

Free Trial Software - Where?.......2007-11-07
When the product arrived it was in a small plastic resealable bag measuring 1" by 2". There was a small fortune cookie sized note stating that all reference material could be located on the URL that was provided. When I went to the site I found the basic information I needed to get up and running. There was also a statement that "All DiskGO USB Flash Drives are shipped with Cryptarchiver Lite, a limited version of the encryption software which encrypts data up to 128AES". Every time I tried to access this I got a message asking me for my password that was suppose to have been emailed to me from Diskgo. I called their tech support and they said no password is needed and the product ships with the software. After going round and round with their tech support I finally gave up. Cryptarchiver may be a great product, but if you can't install it how do you know???
Do not use for Vista Ram Booster.......2007-10-20
I could not get this to work for MS Vista Ram Booster. Tech Support told me to remove and insert several times and it may work.
I typically have to remove and retry up to 5 minutes to get it to work. That is much more than "several" times. It also seems to forget that it is a Ram Booster drive and I have to reformat and try again.
Pass on this product for Ram Booster.

You can see the warranty states replace! I just called them as the 4-gig drive I just bought is dead. I plugged it into the computer, transferred one small file to it and went to transfer the second and the drive was "write protected". There is no fix and I cannot remove my data from it. I found allot of people on the web that have the same problem. Nobody can fix it. Even Memorex states it cannot be fixed.
It was plugged in for 2 minutes. Memorex tells me I can ship it to them and they will send me a "reconditioned" unit. OR, I can contact the online company I bought it from and have them replace it. So, I paid $60.00 for new and got 2 min of use and they want to send me a reconditioned unit that if it happens again, they will claim there is no warranty for reconditioned product. They will not send a new one and THEY WANT ME TO SEND MY DATA TO SOMEONE ELSE.
You will also note the warranty on the web is 1 year. The warranty with the drive is 2 years. Well 2 years or 2 min. which ever comes first. I'm done. I won't do business with a multi-million dollar company that FAILS to disclose they replace product with refurbished item and makes there money by ripping off the little guy or the people who sell there product.

i don't have any complaints. its pretty straight forward. just plug it in and "drag & drop". i am using it to backup my pictures. it beats having to save them to a CD b/c it is much quicker and obviously WAY more storage space. i've only used 2gb so far.

This is the best one that I've tried, easy to use. I put an icon on the desktop and sometimes work from there. And the cap fits. Plenty of space for my pictures and address book .I have three.

It lasted two weeks. The rubber housing opened a little when squeezed near the usb plug and along its width (blue thing to blue thing). A little dirt or moisture got in. The computer no longer recognized what kind of USB device was being plugged in. I tested other USB devices, including a different flash memory, and they all worked fine.
I cut the rubberized covering off and blew the circuit board clean. The computer then recognized that the device is (was) a usb flash memory. I promptly backed up my data. I'm back to my 2Gb sandisk that has lasted about 2 years.
FAST and rugged.......2007-09-24
This is one of the fastest flash drives available on the market. It does depend on whether or not your computer has a USB 2.0 port, of course, but if it does then no problem. Quick to install on any machine (also MACs) and needs no drivers, even if a mini-CD is supplied.
The best feature has to be the rubber encasing. I had the 512Mb version for six months before losing it. I tend to keep USB drives in my pocket, so inevitably they end up in the washing machine sometimes. The Voyager took at least FIVE trips through both washer and dryer, and it kept working flawlessly nonetheless. And this was without the cap! (which, I can guarantee you, you'll lose within a week).
So overall a performing, durable, and relatively cheap purchase.

Good Budget Drive.......2007-11-28
I bought this drive because it was on sale from Circuit City and was very reasonably priced for the storage size (4GB). It is my first thumb drive. It is extremely compact and very very light. The build quality seems decent, but not extraordinary. The thumb slider works well, and it is nice not to have to worry about losing a cap for the USB drive.
One thing to keep in mind is that this is not the fastest drive in the world. It took a good while to transfer 2GB of files onto the drive. While this is not an issue for my purposes, you might want to keep this in mind if you are intending to use the drive to transfer large amounts of data back and forth. For me, I just want a back up of many files and be able to pull them off the drive when I need to and the drive works very well for that.
The price storage ratio really can't be beat - 4GB - which would have cost a king's ransom before, is now rather affordable with this drive.
In operation, the drive was very easy to use. Just plug it in and it works. Drive packaging says Vista compatible, and it comes from Kingston which makes a generally good product.
If you just need a reasonably priced drive to store files and be very light so that you don't notice it, then this is the drive for you.

As an update to this review, I've now used the drive on several different computers and it has worked flawlessly on each. It is also much much faster than it was the first time I used it. This leads me to believe that the problem was with the network from which I was copying files and had nothing to do with this drive. Thus, I would probably increase my review to 4 1/2 stars, with a 5 stars to be given if it had a metal casing. The plastic casings on all of these drives seems a little flimsy. Otherwise, an excellent drive.

What good is a thumb drive that loses files.......2007-08-19
I have had this drive about 6 months. It's small, fast, and has a cool orange light. I was storing many types of files on it until I discovered that it loses files--from directories that weren't even accessed.
I am an experienced computer person, and I have the drive set for ease of removal. This means immediate write-through to prevent data loss. Furthermore, I am ultra-careful never to simply pull the drive out. I always either use the eject function or leave it in while I power down my laptop.
These days all I put on it are MP3s that are only read. It simply loses files. In my opinion it's not worth the risk. Who wants a disk drive that can't be trusted to keep the files you put on it?
Not ReadyBoost capable?!?!.......2007-03-08
On the upside, data transfers are very fast. The drive's physical dimensions are smaller than I thought they would be. It appears to be well made.
On the downside, Vista reports that it isn't fast enough to use as a ReadyBoost drive. This is why I bought the drive. In fairness to OCZ, it isn't marketed as ReadyBoost ready but it is marketed as a 'performance' drive. I also have two Corsair flash drives that aren't fast enough. I have a Sony drive that is fast enough and it's over a year old. Go figure.
The led is always on and extremely bright. Almost led flashlight bright. Very annoying. The usb connector doesn't insert very smoothly. It feels slightly oversize.
I haven't owned the drive long enough to report on data integrity but others have reported this to be an issue. Check other online reviews before you buy this.
Bottom line, I wouldn't buy this drive again. I plan on using it for non-mission critical data storage. In that capacity it should be fine.

Disappointed with Vendor.......2007-09-24
I ordered a 4GB Mini TravelDrive U3 through J&R Music in August 2007. I received a regular TravelDrive (not U3) within a week. I contacted J&R and returned the product, using their recommended carrier (UPS), within 3 days. UPS charged me $9.20 to ship the product, bringing my total shipping charges to over $15 for a $34 product. Needless to say I was a little miffed!. To add insult to injury the product was backordered so I had to wait a few week.... I just received my replacement product, and once again it is not a U3 TravelDrive. I am upset... I'm not going to waste any more of my time nor another $9.20 on J & R Music.

I've owned this product (the real U3 version) before. This mini drive and U3 apps, including the password protection are great. I can attest to that having recently lost my mini drive. I can't imagine someone getting their hands on my data. Having owned the product before I was disappointed when I ordered and received the regular version of the drive and not the U3 drive I ordered. Like the previous reviewer I have returned the product and I'm waiting for the seller to correct what I am assuming is an honest mistake. I will update and comment further on the return in the event the seller does not handle this situation.
Best USB drive on the market.......2007-09-12
USB drive's small size and convenient connection make them a breeze to use but the small size also makes them easy to misplace...which can spell disaster considering how much data you can store on one. This drive is one of the best I've seen because it takes away one of those risks with the best implementation of security that I've used on a USB drive. I rate it a top choice because of the easy-to-use, no-brainer security feature called "U3".
I've owned USB drives with built-in biometrics (fingerprint scanner) and other encryption options, though they might seem like slick solutions, in reality they were cumbersome and unreliable. What makes this drive special is its size and the U3 software. U3 is one of the first applications designed to autolaunch without double-clicking on a program contained on the USB drive. The drive has 2 partitions, one contains the bootable U3 software partition and the other is for data storage. I've had some clients confused by the two partions, but once you understand the config you will have no problems determining where to store your data (it won't let you store any data to the U3 partition so it will be real obvious which partition is for data storage). After the initial password setup you can just pop the drive into any PC and you are instantly presented with a password prompt on the screen, type your password to unencrypt the drive and off you go!
U3 is a great feature........2007-09-06
It always kind of amazes me when people give a product a bad review because they didn't understand what they were buying. The description and packaging for this clearly states that it comes with the U3 technology and a 30 second Google search will tell you what U3 is all about. Memorex makes the very same drive without U3, why didn't you buy that? Anyway I find the U3 software great, it allow me to password protect the entire drives contents and transport applications with me for use on any PC. I have my Trillian IM client, Mozilla Thunderbird mail client and Firefox browser all running from the stick so when I get to work I have all my personal stuff and when I leave I take it all with me leaving nothing behind. I've used a 2GB version of this for over a year and just upgrade to this 4GB version and couldn't be happier. If you don't want or need the U3 features don't buy this product, get the regular 4GB version.
The other reviewers are right, Amazon is shipping a non-U3 version. They just recently updated the manufacturers part number to the non-U3 version but the description is still wrong. I just had to return my second shipment because it is not the U3 drive. This time I'm getting a refund and I'll buy it from someone who can get it right.
