5 out of 5 stars Still the best available.......2007-12-20

I've had these for almost four years, and they are still going strong. I keep an extra AAA battery in my bag so I have never been without. They were essential as a consultant that flew across the country constantly. The sound and comfort are great, and the noise cancellation is even better. More bulky than the Quiet 3's but I took the 3's back and stayed with the 2. I couldn't always recharge the 3's before a flight, but with the 2 I don't have to worry about that.

The ONLY possible negative I have found, and this depends on the person, the volume will never be as loud as other headphones. (ie I also have tried JBL, Sony). The difference is fairly noticeable if you compare straight up, even with the adjustment on the Bose.

5 out of 5 stars Good product.......2007-12-17

Bought these for my husband, wanted to use them when he flys to watch videos, he is very please with sound, especially noise cancelling ability.

3 out of 5 stars Would buy something different next time........2007-12-17

Not sure what it is about these things. I commute a lot (both on the bus and on the plane). They do pretty well but their performance is not consistent. My ears get "tired" from fluctuation in ambient noise and from the feeling of having "suction ear cups" over my ears. I do like them better then noise isolating earphones that go in your ear canal. At least with the Bose I can chew a meal or turn my head side to side without hearing the scraping sound of the headphone cable rubbing against my shirt collar.

All in all, not that bad performance wise, but the price needs to come down to get more then a 3 star rating.

Thank you.

1 out of 5 stars Excellent Performance; Cheaply Built.......2007-12-11

The sound is excellent. The construction is below poor. Mine self-broke into pieces. The plastic portion of the headphones just broke. The rubber pieces around the ears cracked and started to pill off leaving black flakes everywhere, including on myself. All of this started to happen after the one-year guaranty expired -as if it knew-. I hope Bose comes out with a better product than this fiasco.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed.......2007-12-10

There is no doubt that these earphones sound great, but other models from Sony for example sound just as good for alot less money. But the fact is for the price they should be durable and long lasting. They require a great deal of power, which means replacing the batteries frequently (on average every few days depending on the use). Not only that these earphones are not durable. After only a year, one of the phones has broken off. I didn't step on them or otherwise abuse them, its just that after putting them on and off so often, one finally just broke off. I called Bose but replacements cost $100 irregardless of the problem. I would imagine they take your phones and send you different ones rather than fixing yours. For $100 I could just as easily by another pair from Sony that I really believe would last longer. Personally believe I wasted my money buying these earphones.

2 out of 5 stars Poor build quality - too bad........2007-04-17

I've owned a pair of QC2's for about a year now, and after about 6 months they started making an annoying squeaking noise if I wore them while walking. Then this morning, I went to put them on my head, and the headband cracked, making them pretty much useless.

I've had $50 headphones built much more solidly than these.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Plastic Quality - Brakes Easily.......2007-04-17

The sound quality is pretty good and battery life OK but the quality of the plastic used is REALLY poor, the structure complex and fragile. The head-band brakets will brake where it encloses the size adjustment "sliders". When that happens the headphone comes loose and the headset is unusable. The peace of plastic could be sold for a few dollars for a quick fix but in fact you have to get through the repair cycle nightmare and it costs a lot ... not a good deal, I am now looking for something different I can use while sleeping on the plane!

5 out of 5 stars BOSE QC2's are better.......2007-02-07

I was very reluctant to shell out $300 bucks for these but I usually believe that you get what you pay for. I compaired the QC2 to the Sony MDR-NC50 and right away I knew that the Bose was the set for me. The main factor wansn't the sound, it was the comfort. The Bose has a deep ear well so your ear dosen't touch the inner well. The Sony's have a more shallow ear well which touches your ear while the set is in place. Very annoying and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! The sound from the QC2's is escellent. I also compaired the QC3's (at the Bose store) and could also tell immediately that the QC3's would irritate my ears as they are designed to sit on the ear. The bottom line is if you can afford the Bose you probably won't be disappointed. I think they are awesome!..... little pricey but awesome.

3 out of 5 stars The sound is great, but..........2007-01-17

The sound is great, but the plastic headband breaks easily and you can not adjust the size anymore. My first pair broke just after 5 months of moderate usage. Bose replaced it quickly, but second pair broke as soon as warranty expired. For $299 product one would expect better durability.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, even when NOT listing to music.......2006-12-10

I had dreaded the big price tag on these headphones for a long time. Thankfully my wife saw my suffering on trips and got them for me last Christmas (2005).

Pro:
-Appears to dampen normal ambient noise about 75% depending on what the sound is and where you are (at home, in a plane, etc.). I think about 1/3rd of noise canceling comes from the form/fit, 1/3rd from noise canceling, and another 1/3rd from your music itself drowning out the environment around you. Excellent for gaming as performance is better at home where it is quiet.
-Runs on a single AAA built into the headphones, excellent battery life, hours and hours
-Very comfortable, ear pieces are a gel-like substance, not felt, cotton, or sponge material
-On/off switch and batteries on the ear piece... very convenient access
-Although large, folds up into the carrier well
-They fit me snugly (for me a plus, for those with a larger head maybe a negative; I wear a 7.5 inch ballcap for reference)
-I heard things in my music that I never heard before
-Handles very loud music well, although I have never tried the highest sound levels
-Compatible with iPod

Con:
-Not wireless
-Not compatible with iPhone without an adapter
-No way to gauge how much power left (although I am unaware of these feature in any other headphone)
-Expensive!!

Bottom line: I love them, and if you can afford them, you should have a pair.

5 out of 5 stars May be right for you..........2007-06-12

HOW USED: primarily for flying, but also at my desk w/ my laptop. COMPARISONS: Before settling on the Bose QC-2's, I tested (on flights) the following noise-cancelling headphones: Bose QC-3's, Sennheiser PX-250's, and Solitudes (LINX, ver. 3). All had good-to-excellent sound, plus individual pros & cons. CONCLUSION: which headphone is "best" depends on your tastes, physique, and priorities. PROS (vs. other models): more comfortable for long periods than on-the-ear phones; have the deepest (more comfortable) over-the-ear cups; use normal batteries--you're not compelled to use expensive, proprietary batteries; noise-cancelling component is built-into headset (vs. awkward capsule on wire). CONS: clunky when turning head to side or trying to sleep; ears may sweat in sealed-off cups. Though not perfect, the Bose QC-2's are the best noise-cancelling headphones on the market (for me). Though pricey, they're worth it, making frequent flying far more pleasant!

4 out of 5 stars great sounds; bass, treble and range........2007-05-19

i got this headphone as a gift, couldn't be better, i'm an audiophile on my sleep :)

this headphone delivers a good range for both bass and treble and the spectrum for both the clarity and its noise cancelling feature makes this a very good companion for travel or in my case for going to sleep. I like to listen to music before going to bed.

The sounds it reproduces egreeses like a surround sound only its on duplex ('',)
amazing, sometimes, it emersed my senses so much i forgot how loud my headphones had got that the noise cancelling feature cancels itself from its own sounds.

Overall, Im so happy to have this as a gift. couldn't be better.
