Nice in theory, but not in reality..........2007-12-12
Product would sound fine, if it would stay in or anywhere close to the ear canal. But it really doesn't. The 'adjustable' ear pieces really aren't that adjustable, only in moving the positioning up or down about 1/4 of an inch. There is not much flexibility in these things and they don't feel that great in the ears. I bought them for running and the stay on the ear, but again, no where even near to being in the ear and enjoying what you're listening to. Another thing, if you wear glasses, these are NOT for you. Do not buy these as they will not work at all around your ears and the frames of your glasses. Even with my glasses off, they weren't really that good. I bought the v-moda's and have been super happy with them!
Good quality headphones........2007-11-28
These headphones have great sound quality and were reasonably priced (especially for how durable they are). These things are super tough and even come with a sweet carrying case to protect them further. The only downside I've found is that the bud part itself is kinda large (they didn't sit well in my ear). However, to counter this Sennheiser included wedge shaped ear pieces (the green pieces at the bottom of the picture) which allow the head phone to create an acoustic seal without actually going inside your ear, which I find more comfortable than standard earbuds/overear headphones. I'm happy with my purchase, and would definitely buy Sennheiser products again (but from Amazon, because it was $10 cheaper on Amazon than on the Sennheiser website).
Worthy.......2007-11-16
I use my headphones will running. I have tried all brands and find this product to be superior.
Pro's
- Excellent sound
- Good fit
- Durable although get "tattered" quickly. I've had mine for 16 months of heavy usage
- Waterproof
- Good design including clip
Con's
- slip on covers are ineffective
- Plastic cover from connector slipped off and needed super glue but like the Energizer Bunny, they kept on working
Great sound and warranty, Awful wire covers.......2007-11-08
Be glad these come with a 2 year warranty. You will need it. The wire cover splits very easily. I bought these headphones a year ago, I've had to return them through warranty twice for split wires already. Sennheisser has sent me a new pair each time.
Pros: Great sound, stays in ear, awesome warranty and service
Cons: you'll need the warranty. I've sent mine back twice in the past year. Wire cover splits very easily, first time it split near the headphone jack, the 2nd pair split up near the bud itself.
Overall, I'd suggest getting something else, unless you have a backup up pair and don't care about having to send this for repair/replacement frequently.
Headphones for jogging.......2007-11-02
I thought that the design of these headphones was brilliant in that they would wrap around your ears and not pop out while jogging. Well, they don't actually fall to my shoulders like the earbuds did, but the actual speaker does still pop out and the ear wrap piece twists while I run. The sound quality is great, but the design leaves a little to be desired.

Customer Reviews:
Very nice headphones.......2007-12-24
I just received my MX55V and I am impressed. The twist to fit system creates a nice snug fit. The sound is great. While working out, one side loosens up a bit, but not to bad. Overall a good value.
Good value.......2007-12-18
I needed an inexpensive pair of replacement headphones for my ipod, so I tried these. I like them, they sound decent and the price is right. The volume control is handy and they fit my ears well. If you are looking for BIG BOTTOM sounding headphone these are not them. I use these at work, so I like headphones that do not block out the outside world. I am not a big fan of super booming bass either, I find these very clear and crisp in the high end. Good, comfortable headphones at a low cost.
great fit... secure... but heavy on the bass..........2007-11-30
they stay secure... they have no clip to secure cord to your shirt...
sound is a bit heavy on the bassy side... high range is a little lacking...
volume slider control on the cord is convient...
good but not great.......2007-11-27
When you find the perfect match (with the included rubbers) for your ears, these phones surely stay put! When I'm walking or running this fellas doesn't fall down, as opposed to normal earbuds.
The good points include the appropriate cord lenght, the volume control, the good fit, and the sound in the range of mids and highs. The bad (and killing) point is that the promised "bass boost" is almost non-existant, you must force the phones very hard into your ears to hear some good bass. If you don't mind the lack of bass, these are very good, and with the discount, it's a sure buy. But I suppose the quest for perfect phones goes on ...
Looking for Headphones to run with? These ARE NOT them.......2007-11-12
For whatever reason, normal 'ear bud' style headphones won't stay in my ears when i'm in motion. They tend fall out with the slightest movement, much less when I'm running. And since I enjoy listening to music when i'm working out, this has always been a little bit of an issue. So i was intrigued when i saw these Sennheisers - usually solid in the field of audio equipt - with 'twist-to-fit' plugs. Well, while the twist-in phones work okay - they do deliver what they promise in the sense that they WILL stay in your ear (although to do so, they have to be sort of wedged in, and can quickly become uncomfortable, not to mention they can create a sort of 'vacuum lock' seal over your ear canal...uggh) - but the other - sp. cable - aspect of the phones are TERRIBLY DESIGNED. After the cable splits, the length to your L&R ears is uneven - leaving you with a long and a short side??? Which might be practical if your ipod was say, being held parallel to your head like 10 feet away to one side and you really needed all of that extra foot of cable on one side. In a normal situation, however, it just hangs absurdly - this big loop under your chin - and tries to find a way to wrap itself around your neck. That's one issue. The other is that the entire length of the cable is way, WAY too long, to the point of being ridiculous. So now you've got to try and wrap all this extra cable around your ipod or whatever - which isn't really practical. And every time i try to put the damn thing away, this 5 foot freaking cable gets all tangled with the little rubber stoppers on the earphones and becomes like a rat's nest...uggh. I don't get it - all i wanted was the twist-in phones - leave everything else the same and don't try to re-invent the wheel here. But then some genius had to go and kind of ruin it by trying to get funky with some other design modifications - on the cable of all things...Anyway, packaged with some extra pieces so you can 'customize' your phones, but they are essentially aesthetic BS and don't actually have any real effect on the performance in any way.

Customer Reviews:
Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

etymotic ety8 bluetooth earphones review.......2007-12-18
I bought this pair of earphones for a recently purchased Samsung Yp-P2 mp3 player with built-in bluetooth. I was not sure if these would work because of the ipod adapter, but they were very easy to set up with the p2. They have fantastic sound quality, especially for bluetooth headphones. Although they do look a little strange, after a little while with them in your ears, you'll forget you have them on. They are surprisingly very lightweight. The different attachments that go in your ear were also very helpful. I have had problems with the fit of earphones, but i was able to find the right attachments for my ears with this etymotic set. The noise cancellation was surprisingly outstanding too, even though it is only noise-isolating. I could not hear people talking near me unless i put my ear right up to their mouth. My only complaint is that in the spaces between songs, their is some static. I also would not recommend purchasing these if you intend to use them for running or anything like that.
Pros
-sound quality-best i've heard so far
-great bass but not overpowering
-comfort
-ease of use
Cons
-looks
-some static
-have to hold on to right earphone while pressing controls
Prepare yourself for these earphones.......2007-09-27
Up front, I have to say, if you have no patience, don't get these. But if you're willing to give yourself a little bit of a curve to get used to them, they are worth every penny. You'll never give them up.
I've played music all my life, and sound fidelity is important to me. When I first got the ETY 8 earphones as a gift, the form almost overcame the function for me. It took some getting used to the in-ear placement of the earphones - you really have to get them placed deeply into your ear, which felt odd at first, and took some practice to be able to do quickly. Then, there was the sort of odd feel of the two pieces hanging off my ears. Plus, they look a little bit odd. OK, so I got over the oddness. The earphones are actually very light, and once you get used to the feel, you forget they're there. Because they'd been a gift, I kind of felt obligated to use them, so I powered thru the initial getting-used-to it period, and then I started to understand what these earphones are all about.
It's about real sound. Not over-cranked, duded-up bass, but real high fidelity sound. From a wireless earphone, which I didn't expect. I don't know of another pair of earphones that reproduces the original artists' sound with so faithfully. No kidding. It's really different than the deep pulsing bass you get with Bose and many other earphones on the market. You hear the individual instruments, and the color of the sound. And the noise isolation function of this type of in-ear insertion is superior. I can be riding the Muni bus downtown and be in a world of my own. Even on an airplane, the sense of uninterrupted sound clarity is flat out awesome.
If you like driving around in a car with your radio blaring and your bass shaking the drivers around you, these are not the right earphones for you. But if you are a seeker of true high fidelity sound, go for them.
I want to love these..........2007-05-28
I want to love these headphones. They are comfortable, they sound great, they noise isolate as well as any other set I own, and no wires! Other reviews say the range isn't great, but that isn't important to me - I generally have my iPod in backpack, bag, or pocket and just don't want wires dangling around me.
I was all set to give these a 5, but then I had a synchronization problem. I had my iPod in my hands, my headphones in my ears, and for whatever reason, I just couldn't hear the music - in fact, the little green light wouldn't come on on the transmitter - but the operation is just plug and play - couldn't have been a user error on my part. I sat on a plane between Portland, Oregon and Washington, D.C., cursing my headphones the whole way. Now the operation appears to be intermittent. I have no idea under what condition they will decide to work and when they won't, so I end up carrying a spare pair of earbuds with me.
Love no wires.......2007-02-26
I love not having wires for my ipod. However, these bluetooth earbuds don't hold to the usual standards of quality sound that Etymotic claims.
I find the sound quality, for the price, mid-range. My bose earbuds for $99.00 sound better with greater depth in bass. I don't agree that they look wierd since they are very small and fit well in the ear. It is great to garden and ride my bike without getting tangled in wires so I am keeping them but feel more work needs to be done on the performance. Dr.Horn
Great Sound But Poor Design and Range.......2007-02-24
Being the third bluetooth headset I bought (and the most expensive), I had high expectations of these Ety8s.
The biggest quirk is that the headphones shut off when I placed my finger near the FWD/NEXT button. Even the tech support could not understand how just getting close to the button would cause the phones to shut off, but I did not even have to press the button!
In an open gym, just 12 feet from my iPod would cause the sound to drop and stutter. I got much better range (almost 50 feet!) in the same gym with my iMuffs.
The ear plugs were also very uncomfortable when being inserted and did not get much better with time. I am used to the Shure E2c headphones, so in-ear is not new to me. With such a strange design (on top of it all, Etymotic needs to head back to the design board!

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Great headset (but not for Blackberry Curve).......2007-09-28
This is a great headset which unfortunately did not work on Blackberry Curve. This headset has a 2.5mm pin, whereas the Blackberry requires a 3.5mm pin.
great stereo earphone for mobile phone (moto Q).......2007-09-21
i purchased these phones after doing research online about pros and cons and i'm very pleased with the purchase.
these work great with my moto Q cellphone and without question the sound quality is just superb.
i had no problem in getting music and voice calls from both earpieces unlike some other users.
I was not impressed.......2007-08-03
To be fair, I only had the phones for 1 day before I mailed them back. The mic did not work as another reviewer indicated. I have a Blacberry Pearl & read on some forums about these but I did not think the bass was good at all. I don't believe they were true stereo headphones--i don't know if this was same situation as previous reviewer noted where he had to pull out the connector slightly to hear true stereo, but that defeats the purpose of the purchase. I know per many forums that the Pearl has issues w/stereo, but should be overcome by headsets such as these b/c of their 2.5mm tips with 3 or more circles on the end. The box made them look cheap as well as I have seen a box of normal Sennheisers that cost more than these so immediately it got me thinking the quality was going to be that good. I guess I'm spoiled w/more higher end headphones, but b/c I've heard much about the name, I thought I couldn't go wrong. Will have to read on more types to see which ones I want
Excellent sounding headset AND answer calls.......2006-11-19
This is a great sounding headset! I use it with my Motorola Q, to listen to mp3s. The sound is very full, with crisp highs and deep bass. The rubber earpieces do isolate the rest of the outside noise which is very good for sound, but not good if you're jogging/biking outdoors etc. These are definitely the best sounding in-ear style headsets I've tried. Earbuds are NO comparison! Highly recommended.
great cans, but not with an LG phone........2006-08-09
The sound quality from the MM50 headphones is wonderful, especially considering the source is just an mp3 player embedded in a cell phone. Unfortunatly I have to pull out the headphone jack one 'click' in order to hear full stereo sound. This is annoying, but it also means that the mic and push to talk functions are rendered useless, which is almost a deal breaker. According the the side of the box these work best with Motorola phones. My LG is out of luck for compatabily. That said, the sound quality alone is good enough to justify the price and the hassle of use, so I will keep them. Highly recommended for you Motorola users out there.

Their 20-25 dB of external noise exclusion allows you to hear the full dynamic range of recordings without having to play them at unnaturally high and unsafe levels. The ER-4S (Stereo) is the musician's choice. Extremely detailed, well-balanced, and tight bass are just a few words to describe their awesome sound. These phones offer a sonic checkout from the real world!

Absolutely Great headphone.......2007-11-14
Absolutely clear Sound.
"Flat" curve in dB.
It's means the balance of sound(Not enhance the Bass).
If you buy it, suggest buy a headphone amplifier with it.
Because this type is high impedance.
If you give him enough power, he will give you more then you expect.
Good seal required for bass.......2007-10-30
In order to get good bass with these, you need to get a good seal with the "sleeves" that come with them. You can also wear sleeves from other earphone manufacturers (the black foamies from Shure are highly recommended), which may allow you to get a better fit. That said, most inexpensive headphones do have louder bass that is often also accentuated over the other frequencies-bass that is inaccurate and covers up all of the other sounds. People that come from these headphones may still think the Etymotics have weak bass when they really just have accurate bass that is not overly accentuated.
Nice, Not Perfect.......2007-06-13
Great improvement over earbuds. Decent mid-fi sound, but fatiguing because hard, forward. I use both this and the Shure SE530, which is overall much more musical, less fatiguing. The Shure preserves more of the scant spatial information and harmonics left in WAV and AAC formats. The Etymotic is harder to drive, plays softer. The Shure has livelier dynamics, much much better bass and lower midrange, and is smoother, warmer. The Etymotic has better midrange and high frequency response, more detail in these ranges. I use both with the Apple 60 and 80 GB players, and Simpl A1 and HeadRoom Total Bithead earphone amps. Don't waste your money on either of these expensive earphones unless you plan on adding an earphone amp.
The best sound you can hear.......2006-08-22
These earphones are probably the best thing I have ever heard. The sound in clear and crisp. The notes, I never knew existed, seem alive and vibrant here. The noise isolation is terrific. These guys at Ety really know their stuff. I was on a trans-atlantic flight and these earphone kept the sounds of the engines to the bare minimum.
The only thing is that you need a headphone amplifier if you're listening to em on an iPod or personal musical device. The amp really lets you explore these earphones to their maximum potential.
So in conclusion, great earphones, probably the best in the market but you need an headphone amplifier to really utilize the potential of these earphones.
I can't believe it!.......2005-08-29
I hate headphones and earphones. The music never sounded good or they bothered my ears, or they made my ears too hot, etc. I had to get something to keep things a little more quiet around the house, especially at night. After researching like a mad man, I decided to give these a chance. I bought them to connect to my computer.....I never thought I would be an Ipod person (more on that in a second). I like to listen to music while I am online, and did not want to wake up my wife or kids. These are just the thing. They really should be called ear speakers, because they sound amazing. The sound quality that you get is really good. I was amazed. I bought from a different source, only because of personal issues with J&R, they worked out to about the same price.....about $200. A steal! I like them so much that I am now researching what kind of mp3 player to buy......BECAUSE of these earspeakers! You do not have to have them very loud, and they block outside noise very well. My wife can talk to me from 2 feet away, and volume is not that high, andI need to remove one ear piece to hear what she is saying. After 5 minutes of first wearing them, I forgot I had them on. The carry pouch is a nice touch, as are the extra pieces. It is hard for me to judge the quality of materials, but everything seems good, and I am not afraid of breaking anything. Buy them and enjoy the music as I am. I am very happy with my purchase.....after using them for a while, I found something that others may not like. When properly placed, it feels like your ears are clogged....almost like when you get water in your ears. It is a strange feeling to get used to, but the sound is so good, that I quickly forget about it and am into the music (as I am right now). As far as breakage goes, well, sure they are delicate, they go into your ear canal. Treat them like a $200 set of earspeakers and you should have no problem with them......treat them like the headphones that you get on a plane and prepare for repairs. :-)
Peace,
Morley

Good Low-End Headphones.......2007-10-30
I bought a set of these after reading many dubious reviews of all sorts of headphones in this price range. First of all, they are very light and comfortable, and you can wear them for hours with no problems. Secondly, they sound good to me: they have a nice full sound that is a lot better than anything I have listened to in a long time. Thirdly, they seem well constructed for the price.
For the price of these things, they are really good in my opinion. If you want some headphones in this price range, this may be just what you are looking for.
Decent headphones.......2007-09-13
The AKG K66 headphones are probably the best open-backed headphones you can get for such a low price. They are open-backed, so don't plan on using them to listen to Iron Maiden at full volume in some public place and expect to get away with it. Very comfortable and fairly durable, these headphones are good investment if you don't have the cash to get those ridiculously high-priced Bose headphones you've been dreaming about.
Spend some extra.......2007-04-16
They don't swivel, so they can be incredibly uncomfortable. Everyone else can hear perfectly what you are listening too (that's bad.) They are pretty distorted, and the bass is about as powerful as a metronome. I was given them for free, and I am going to replace them with a pair of SONY 700s

do not buy this product.......2007-03-09
i was excited about getting retractable earplugs that costs so little, but there's a reason for why it's so inexpensive. the earplugs are too small and fall out very easily. the sound quality it awful. i had to turn the volume WAY up to hear sound and when i did, it was very tinny. i just wasted 13 dollars on garbage. i expected more from panasonic... now i'm never going to buy earplugs from them.
Very disappointing.......2007-01-07
I should have listened more to the reviews about the sound. Although the ear buds fit my ears nicely the very tin-can sound is unbearable. As far at the self-winding cord is concerned, it's not worth it. The cord frequently does not wind all the way back in to the holder. All in all, a terrible waste of $12.58. I, too, think that one star is too high when rating this product.
yes it's true, BUT..........2006-11-29
As an audiophile who despises the concept and quality of mp3's, I also agree that the sound quality on these headphones are bad. But I love the retractable feature, however, so to me it gets four stars for that. I use these headsets often because of their practicality, but usually not for music.
No base at all.......2006-10-12
Stay away from this garbage. the sound quality is so bad there is no base at all!! the design (retractable) is appealing but you use it to listen to music. the sound is totally flat. I can get better sound quality buying one from a dollar store.
if there is a way to give it no star I would have done that.
