At the heart of the main unit is a large, blue button that engages and disengages the speakerphone. The button is surrounded by a blue indicator LED light that provides a visual cue about the wireless speaker status. Four other buttons, all of which sport a beautiful chrome finish, offer easy access to mute functions and volume control, as well as voice recognition control. Use the voice recognition button to easily place calls using your phone's voice dialing function. All buttons on the main unit are also backlit for easy viewing in dark conditions, and with a receiving range of 30 feet, you can be assured that the unit will communicate with a Bluetooth phone that's anywhere in your vehicle.
The HF850 kit also comes with a directional microphone, a Bluetooth module for connectivity with your phone and a 5-Watt external speaker for great sound performance in your car. The kit is supplied with all necessary wiring connectors, mounting hardware, and fuses for installation (professional installation is required).
Any Bluetooth phone that supports the Hands-free Profile should work with the HF850, but you'll want to check with your phone manufacturer to make sure. Motorola states that the HF850 is compatible with the Motorola V551, V600, A630, MPX220, and RAZR V3. It is also compatible with the V710, but this phone must have firmware 8700_01.40 or higher.

Overall really good so far.......2007-12-07
I installed it on my jeep today. So far it is really good. It is quite loud and people can't tell that they are on speaker phone. I have no problems with vehicle noise interfering with my calls. Other people with smaller, quieter cars complained of problems with noise but I don't have that problem and I drive a really loud car. My only complaint is that the double sided tape that came with it to mount the control panel and the mic really sucks. They both fell off within hours of the install. I solved it by using some other double sided tape I had so it wasn't a big deal. The install was really easy for me. If you know your way around cars and your car's wiring its really easy to install...otherwise have someone else do it.
Average to good.......2007-08-23
First the good news. I have had it installed on my car for about one and half years and it mostly works great. It has remained paired with my phones, and I have had few connection problems. Most calls are clear on both ends. Sometimes, road noise can be a problem though.
Now the bad. Voice dialing only works when I am in a parking lot. Otherwise road noise interfers and the system can't hear me. So basically it is not a hands free unit (for outgoing calls).
I had the unit professionally installed. The first unit was defective, and I had a very difficult time working with Motorola. Their support (in India) is terrible. In the end I returned the unit to the store (this was a lot of trouble as the store did not want an opened unit back, but you only find out that it is defective once it is opened). Also, how do you send a partially installed car kit back to Motorola for evaluation? The installer only found out that the unit was defective after he had completed the istallation. The second unit has worked fine.
In all, I have been happy with the unit and would recommend it with two caveats. First, don't expect a true hands free unit. Second, don't expect any customer service from Motorola.
bluetooth.......2007-08-16
Recently installed the unit. Took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Not easy to get to all the places under the dashboard and related areas and install all the wires and components.
So far, has worked as advertised. Have not used the device to a large extent as of yet.
No problems with the vendor and the shipment. Did what was expected without any issues.
Stay clear of this one.......2007-05-21
I bought this through Amazon two weeks ago, I finally had a Saturday off to install it and found it was defective. It would not go into pairing mode. I called Motorola's USA tech support only to get India and a guy reading the manual getting famillar on my dime. After 1 and half hours of indian dialect he tells me that I have to send it back at my expense so they can evaluate it. I tell him this wont do. I calle Amazon and they tell me to call Motorola. This is the last Motorola product I buy and maybe the last time I shop via Amazon. At least if I bought local I could be talking to an american and not some indian. Do yourself a favor dont buy this product.
Bluetooth Car Kit is an excellent product for those who drives longtime to and from office!!!.......2007-05-13
My office is far from home and Was looking for a handsfree which can help me take long conference calls while going to and coming from office. This product from Motorola integrates well with my blackberry pearl with no problem. I got this fitted into my Honda car in New Delhi just paid 5 dollars and it is intelligent. If I am having a conversation on the phone while I get into the car and starts off the engine, within few seconds the handsfree system takes over automatically. Same way when I switch off my engine it waits for my conversation to finish before turning off the handsfree.. Pretty cool.

For the ultimate in no-compromises, totally-integrated mobile communications, look no further than the Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth Car Kit. When used with a compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone, this device allows you to enjoy hands-free communication in your vehicle with a minimum of fuss. Plus, you'll get tons of great functionality that will keep you talking wherever you go.
The main feature of the IHF1000 is a robust voice recognition system. Just touch the blue button in the center of the control unit and the car kit will listen to your commands and make calls for you. The system's brilliant sound quality with noise reduction and high output sound optimizes sound quality for both you and the people on the other end. The center button is surrounded by a blue indicator LED light that provides a visual cue about the wireless speaker status. Four other buttons, all of which sport a beautiful chrome finish, offer easy access to mute functions and volume control, as well as the voice recognition features.
With the IHF1000, you're in total control of your in-car communications. Using the controls and voice commands, you can:
- Pair up to four Bluetooth-enabled phones with the unit (only one may be used at a time)
- Answer incoming calls
- Mute and and un-mute calls
- Voice dial by name up to 20 contacts stored on the device
- Voice dial by number
- Dial with the mobile phone keypad
- Request system help
And if your phone supports it, you can also use the IHF1000 to make voice-activated calls from your phone's contacts list, redial the last number, accept or reject incoming calls, transfer audio to hands-free, and toggle between multi-party calls. All this functionality gives you the freedom to seamlessly switch between your mobile phone and the IHF1000 unit.
Multiple language support is built into the unit, too. The system supports voice recognition in English (US and UK), French (EU), Spanish, Italian and German, and there is no need to "train" the system in any of these languages. It recognizes them right out of the box. As for compatibility with handsets, Motorola states that any Bluetooth phone that supports the Hands-free Profile should work with the IHF1000, but you'll want to check with your phone manufacturer to make sure. Also, note that professional installation is required for the IHF1000 system.

Easy to install and use.......2007-12-12
I installed the IHF1000 in a 2007 Dodge Caliber using a Metra ABTI-CH3 Bluetooth OE intergration kit. It was truely a plug and play kit. Instlation takes about an hour. The Motorola IHF1000 works as advertised.
Excellent purchase!.......2007-12-01
I'm very pleased with the quality of this product. It is just as good as most factory installed bluetooth I've seen and heard on some new model automobiles. The voice recognition has worked great... not a single misdialed number. I had it professionally installed for $50. Be aware that the radio interface only works on newer model automobiles; say the last three years or so. On my older model car, I am relying on the 5 inch speaker which is included in the kit. It works very well. We'll be buying a second kit for my wife's car.
Better than most, but speaker not loud enough!.......2007-11-14
This is a well designed product overal. It worked well with my cell phone (Blackberry) and my wifes (Motorolla Razr). It always worked and it connected automatically when you start the car. No extra buttons to push on the phone or car, just start the ignition and it powers up detects your phone, connects, and works every time.
A word of advice -- you need, absoultely must mount the microphone on the visor pointed toward the driver, in order for people on the other end to hear you well, and for the voice commands to work well when you are driving.
The bad -- the only bad thing about this is the little wimpy speaker was just too underpowered. If I was on the freeway, I really just couldn't hear other people well and I was constantly asking people to repeat themselves. This was really, really anoying. What's worse is that my car is realatively quite on the freeway compaired to most. (Honda Accord V6) So if you have a small 4-cyl car you'll never be able to hear people on the freeway.
If it were built to interface with the built in car speakers that would've been a much better solution.
Buy it........2007-09-24
I just bought a new Blackberry and needed a hands free option. I heard great things about this Bluetooth kit and they are all true. Anyone who is complaining is a tech nerd. I had Verizon install it. It's easy to program and easy to use. I found a nice holder for my phone and I'm in business. Worth every penny!
Car Kit.......2007-07-28
