Works with Honda Odyssey RES.......2007-12-08
I bought these for my 2003 Odyssey EXL with factory DVD system (RES) after reading a review that they would work. I also bought a pair of different Wireless IR headphones (Bravo IH-02A) which did not work. I researched to try to find out which Models/Brands would work with my vehicle, but didn't have much luck. I had to learn by trial and error, so hopefully this will help someone else out. I am not sure what other vehicles these will work with, although they should work with the i-VES system.
I gave 5 stars because of price and compatibility. They also seem sturdy, but time will tell how long they last. Do they sound as good as my Bose headphones? No, but the sound is clear and they didn't cost near as much. They fit my 3 and 5 year old really well and also adjust to fit an adult. I was concerned they would not fit a small child, but found they fit better than the Bravo's which are designed for kids. I ended up buying two more pair.
good set of headphones.......2007-11-06
Nice headphones for the price. Works well with my 2004 Honda Odyssey and at half the price as the Honda OEM headsets, quite a bargain. Will buy again if the kids destroy this set. Hopefully they will resist the use.
Thanks C. Thompson from Boulder. He helped with a good review for Honda's!!!
excellent product.......2007-10-29
I have a JVC DVD player I bought and had installed at Circuit City about 2 years ago. I needed 2 more headsets so that when my kids friends and cousins ride with us they too can watch and hear movies. I looked at BestBuy and Circuit City first for additional wireless headphones but they either did not carry them or they were over $50 a pair. So I bought these and they are great!
They are the exact same model as the ones that came with the DVD player. (which was not planned)
I simply put batteries in them (which came with them Surprise!) and they worked right away!
I am very happy.
Headphones.......2007-08-23
Very nice product but did not meet my needs and was incompatible with my equipment, so I had to return for refund. Merchant promptly refunded purchase price upon return of the headset.
Works great.......2007-07-10
We have a Honda Odyssey mini van and the stock headsets broke. Rather than paying $80 for another pair of stock headsets, we got these. We have a 5 year old and they fit his head a lot better than the stock headsets, they are more comfortable and robust. They also work great with the 2005 Honda Odyssey.

GREAT.......2007-12-21
My husband was driving me crazy with the LOUD TV. I go to bed before he does and I could hear the TV with the bedroom door closed! No More!!
Excelllent Headphones!!.......2007-12-18
These headphones are excellent! My "hubby" is always yelling at me to turn the T.V. down because I love to watch late night television. These wireless headphones are exactly the answer to my problem. I can watch T.V. as late as I want without bothering anyone. I highly recommend them. The sound quality is excellent, and there are no buzzing or interference sounds or noises. Buy them! You won't regret it!
You get what you pay for.......2007-12-17
These headsets have terrible reproduction of sound. They also have a lot of static. They are very flimsy and cheaply made. I would not recommend these unless your budget is EXTREMELY restrictive. Even then, it will be well worth spending a little more to get a lot more in return.
Too Much Static, My Husband Hates Them.......2007-12-13
Bought them for my husband for a Christmas Present Last Year. He wanted them for watching late night TV without distractions and unfortunately these ones have horrible static, therefore he hates them. Do yourself a favor and spend the money on a better pair.
Does what I want.......2007-12-12
Have had this product about a month. Has worked flawlessly. Self-adjusting headband has worked fine. You have option of using rechargeable battery that comes with unit, or if it runs down (which hasn't been an issue yet), using alkaline AAs. Sound has been excellent with TV, though if the TV signal is very marginal, there can be noise. Haven't tried with music. Appreciate the power switch on the phones, so I don't have to put it back in charging unit every night. Also has volume control on phone, though you'll get cleaner sound using volume control on TV. Ear pads comfortable and I appreciate them not being type that wraps around ears, so I can here my cat getting into trouble, etc. Good product, especially for price.
Amazon.com Product Description
These wireless headphones were designed to connect with your TV or stereo system. The wireless system allows you to move around the room without that pesky cord draping behind. It is easy to connect to TV, VCR, DVD or audio systems with the supplied connecting cord and plug adaptor. This system includes both transmitter and headphones.
The high power infrared transmitter incorporates multiple light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for an extended coverage range. The MDR-IF540RKs have a transmission range of twenty-four feet (ten feet when at a forty-five degree angle.) They also receive at a ninety degree transmission angle, ensuring that you have uninterrupted listening as you move around the room. The headband is self-adjusting and sports a snug-fitting wide band. The headphones require one AA battery. If you use an optional alkaline battery, you can expect an impressive one hundred hours of use. If you choose to save batteries, simply use the included rechargeable battery and the supplied transmitter/recharger. Using this recharging system, you can expect thirty hours of use.
The headphones are lightweight and comfortable, delivering quality sound. Sony has installed several technical features to the headphones to ensure a quality listening experience. The thirty millimeter drive units deliver deep bass, low distortion and a wide frequency response range (12 - 24,000 Hz). Ferrite magnets give the headphones high energy at a minimal size and weight. The PET diaphragms offer low distortion and resists bending and flexing. The open-air design allows for ambient noise to enter the ear, a safe and observant feature.
With the supplied UniMatch plug, it is easy to connect the transmitter to various sound sources. These plugs accommodate both the phone jack found on high fidelity components or the mini-jack found on video components. A single volume control is found on the right earpiece for simple volume adjustments. Finally, there is a automatic power switch on both the headphones and transmitter to help conserve battery and equipment life. (The unit turns back on when the transmitter detects a signal, while the headphones turn on when they sense their placement on your head.) The headphones weigh 6.3 ounce and are a modern black color.

peace at last.......2007-11-11
Finally I can sleep in on the weekends when my husband is watching the 3 stooges at 7:00 a.m. I realized we needed a decent set of headphones and I poured over the reviews for hours. We are not into audio, or theater, so to spend hundreds of dollars did not seem reasonable considering our only use might be an hour or two a week. These sony headphones are very much worth the money. They were simple to hook up and actually the reviews indicated the only problem was the strange way you needed to put them back on the charger. It does take a moment and if you just try to drop them on the charger you might get frustrated. Take a moment to visualize the contact pins and you will quickly set them on correctly. Trying to do it blindly is a hit and miss.
If you are an audio or theater enthusiast, you might want to upgrade from here, but I think for even family entertainment they are a good value. We are pleased with the purchase.
NOT FOR THE TREADMILL!!!.......2007-11-10
These headphones work well when there are no other electronic devices nearby, but don't get too close to an incandescent light fixture and definitely don't try to use them on the treadmill. The electric motor causes major interference which generates so much static they are not usable.
WOW!.......2007-09-10
I had originally thought that there would undoubtedly be something wrong with a pair of wireless headphones that boasts so many features with a paltry price tag of $70. I can easily say now that I own them that I would have paid $150 or more for them, they are simply that good.
First and foremost the Bass is just excellent with great drivers making for powerful bass while listening. Using this on my TV, the bass alone makes me want to watch more Action flicks, which brings me to another feature --
The Rumble feature. This sucker really helps to immerse you into whatever experience you are having with whatever media you are using. I can't wait to try them out on Jurassic Park!
If these features haven't sold you, then the rechargeable batteries (NiMH that can technically also be charged in a Sony Rechargeable NiMH dock, which I also own) that charge on a dock and require only minimal recharging might just do the trick. Why do I say this? Well, to be honest I've saved what I consider to be the best feature for last --
It automatically turns itself off when not being used. There is a strap that automatically adjusts to your head; When the strap is pushed up by the head, the headset automatically turns on, but when the headset is taken off and the strap falls back to its original position, the headset automatically turns off saving HOURS of battery life, and allowing for possibly the most laziness of any headphone product I've ever used.
To be honest, there is only one problem with these headphones -- if you turn the volume up on the headphones past about 5, you will hear the fuzz from the wireless connection rather loudly. This isn't too big of a problem for me, though, because I can turn up my TV pretty loud, which makes the audio more than loud enough for me to hear on a lower setting FUZZ FREE. Thusly, I have to say that I hadn't expected anything like this from Sony, and I am so impressed that I have to give this five stars.
works fine.......2007-05-25
the wireless headphone works fine and it met all the specification it said....
Not good for laptop users in bed.......2007-05-13
I bought this to listen to the tv while my fiance' sleeps but also often use the laptop while in bed and watching. The problem is that since this if IR based it needs a clear line of sight to the receiver and the lapscreen cause interference.
Like other reviews I confirm it is a major pain trying to get the headphones on the charger just right to charge. Look for one that uses induction.

Customer Reviews:
"Wireless" - Well, technically, yes........2007-07-22
I have a severe hearing problem and I use special "ear hooks", rather than headphones, that work with my hearing aids. I used to have a wireless setup that replaced the headphones with a receiver that you plugged your own headphones into. This worked great - I could even go outside my house and still get reception because these used a Radio Frequency (RF) signal. Unfortunately, and after many years, they bit the dust.
I did a lot of searching and finally found the Koss HB60. In my excitement at finding a replacement, I didn't think about the fact that these used an Infra-Red (IR) signal. The difference is frustrating.
When they say that IR is line-of-site, they ain't kidding. Wander too much to the right or left, go behind a door, turn your back on the transmitter, or slip the receiver into a pocket and you can kiss the signal goodbye - even standing within the tiny range (20-30ft.) of the receiver.
You might as well be connected with a wire, after all.
I know that this all is just the way it is with IR, and I suppose they work as they should within the confines set by IR.
My suggestion: stick with RF, if you can. I'm still searching for that perfect replacement.
Attempted to return item..........2007-03-08
After receiving the item, I came to the realization that it was not what I wanted and I have been trying to return this item ever since. After calling the company to return it, I was told that I had to send an e-mail in order to get a return code. So, I followed the company's rules and sent an e-mail requesting a return code. That was about three weeks ago and I haven't heard or received anything from them.
I am still in possession of the item and wish to return it for a refund, however; I've not had any luck getting a response from this company. I'm quite certain I won't buy anything from them in the future.
DO NOT PURCHASE.......2007-02-05
Over the years I have purchased several makes and models of wireless earphones.headphones ranging in price from25 to 200 dollars. I am famaliar with comfort and range of sound being received from transmitter.
This product is awful to say the very least. I am not sure why it is even manifactured. The ear phones fall off constantly if one can even get them on. The clip on receiver is cumbersome and can not be covered in the least bit. The transmitter has to be way above ones head in order not to interfear with transmission. It can not be used near one's computer if you have any wireless items hooked up to computer. And on top of all of that weather used on computer, stero or tv. you can not move more than four to five feet away from transmitter for any reception at all. I do not mean just a bit of interferance or static. There is just no sound. Forget going into another room....ha ha ha...No such thing is possible. I would return the product but because everything that I have ever ordered from Amazon works so nicely. I threw away the container it was packed in, shipping invoice and shipping box. It is now in the garbage can where it should be. Please do not waste your money even if you are buying for a child. VERY VERY INFERIOR PRODUCT
Terrible reception.......2007-01-11
One headset barely works - it has a lot of static on it & one doesn't work at all. They are cheaply made & not worth the price at all. My kids were very disappointed with them on Christmas day.
Should ship without the headphones.......2007-01-05
The transmitter / receiver work great. My wife wanted something she could wear while exercising, and the "normal" wireless headphones were too big, too bulky, and too heavy for that. This was one of the few products we could find that would transmit sound to a normal set of headphones / earbuds.
As for the headphones that were shipped with the unit, as soon as I tried them on, my comment was "What in the _____ was Koss thinking when they designed this POS?" A speaker from Radio Shack and a clothes pin would be more comfortable.
But I didn't buy it for the headphones anyway, so I gave it 4 stars. Ship it without the headphones and cut the price by $5, and it would be a 5 star product.

Easy to use & acceptable sound quality.......2006-06-04
I purchased both the Koss HB60 & HB70 infrared headphones from Amazon 2 weeks ago & am haapy with both for different reasons.
Both use the same transmitter which was a breeze to hook up and compatible with both receivers of course.
The HB70 phones hold 1 AAA battery in each earpiece and are thus heavier on the head, while the HB60 allows us to plug in any headphone into their portable receiver containg 2 AAAs.
The HB70 headphones give an immediately noticeable better bass response with specs giving a range of 30-15000 Hz while the supplied HB60 clip-ons give a response of 50-15000 Hz and sound more 'tinny'. The reception and separation was very good for the price at about 15-20 feet and there was only a very small background hiss with both when the volume was turned down too low. For the HB70 the volume control is on the right earpiece while the control is on the receiver on the HB60. Just remember not to turn the source volume up too much or the bass sounds start to break up at high saturation levels at the transmitter end.
Convenience wise the HB70 has the advantage of no wires dangling, while the HB60 allows us to swop for a better pair of phones than the one supplied which are not very good. Remember to choose one with a low impedance though (quoted imp is 10000) or you would drain your batteries very quickly.
Overall, both good buys for different reasons but once the sponge earpieces on th HB70 wear off/disintegrate, I don't know where to get replacements while I can just buy new phones with the HB60. Alternatively, buy the HB70 and replace with any infrared headphone when it wears out, if the transmitter is still working.
Awful noise.......2005-12-30
I got these to use for my office and they turned out to be worse than useless. In order for them to work, you have to plug in the sending unit which needs to be fairly close to your radio. Unfortunately, with my preferred station, the noise generated by the power supply completely overwhelms the signal so these headphones are totally useless. Even when playing a CD the sound quality is terrible. I'm better off just turning it way down and living with it. I would suggest looking elsewhere for cordless headphones.
Disappointed with Infrared Technology .......2005-05-16
This is the 1st set of cordless speakers I've tried. I was warned about about IR vs radio frequency technology. I should have listened to the advice. RF is much better than IR.
I would not recommend these headphones
Below my expectations.......2005-05-10
When I bought the headphone, it seemed the best option: light, cheap, good brand.
But using it was kind of disapointing. Even at 3,4 feet away you hear a background squeaking.
When I had to get new batteries (after 2 months of far-less-than-intense use) I broke the little piece of plastic that holds the battery cover.
I am still using (I got used to the squeaking), but as soon as I have a chance I will look for something better.
UPDATE (02/01/06): I've lost my patience. It went to garbage. Spend more money and buy something better.
Short Range and lots of noise..........2005-01-31
I have never tried other wireless headphones, so I did not know what to expect. These headphones will only work in the room where the base is...that is not too much of a problem because I use them to watch movies when others in the house need quiet, but the amount of hiss and noise is quite distracting. No matter how I fiddled with the volume of the unit and the volume of the surround sound system I could still hear it.
One other thing that may be purely personal: I usually am reclining on the sofa when I watch the movies, with my head propped on pillows--these headphones have a "behind the head" design that is much less comfortable when you are laying back.
The only really good thing for me was the price, but I would be willing to pay more to solve these problems.

Amazon.com Product Description
Audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts who demand the best sound quality and all the convenience of home listening will appreciate Sony's MDR-DS8000 infrared wireless digital surround-sound headphone system. The headphones are capable of creating the kind of multi-channel surround sound effects found in home and movie theaters through the fusion of Sony's audio analysis, digital signal processing, and the latest transducer technologies to produce VTP (Virtual Phones Technology) via the supplied digital processing unit.
The system's wireless technology lets you listen, untethered, from anywhere within a 33-foot radius of the processor unit. Listening with a friend? The system supports unlimited reception when used with additional wireless headsets (model MDR-IF8000, only one set supplied).
The MDR-DS8000 headphones employ Sony's Gyrotrak head-tracking system that measures the rotational angle of your head (while listening, of course) and compensates the sound space data to offset the effects of the rotation--that is, the current position or incline of your head. This allows the direction of the sound to remain unchanged even when you move your head to reach for the popcorn, ensuring a seamless, lifelike sensation of listening to sound in the room rather than merely in your head.
These top-of-the-line headphones feature a third-generation Logic 3D processor that is capable of 150 million instructions per second (MIPS), along with a high-accuracy, 24-bit surround decoder that supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS (DTS-ES), and MPEG2/AAC formats.
Connections include a stereo RCA analog input, a pair of optical digital-audio inputs, and a wired headphone output for use with optional wired headphones.
What's in the Box
Headphones, digital surround processor, stand for digital processor, an AC power adaptor (9V), rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries (two), a battery charger, an optical digital-audio interconnect (Toslink to Toslink), and a user's manual.
Product Description
Enjoy the surround sound equivalent to that of 6 speakers when you listen with Sony's MDR-DS8000 Infrared Cordless Digital Surround Headphone System. Using digital infrared transmission, this system is compatible with DTS ES, Dolby Digital EX, DTS, Dolby Digital, Dolby Surround, Dolby Pro Logic II and MPEG2 AAC. The Cordless, full open air headphones transmit audio information to a speaker, microphone or headset via an infrared signal. Infrared eliminates the common interference found in radio signals. In addition, an Optimum surround field is created anywhere within the infrared reception area of 33 feet. Also featuring Gyro head tracking which creates a realistic sound, these Headphones are powered by either rechargeable batteries or dry batteries, and are easy to operate - simply select Input, Effect Mode, & Output. For a more realistic surround sound experience, choose the MDR-DS8000.

Great alternative to speakers........2004-12-13
I use these as an alternative to PC speakers, I have a great set-up but the noise from PC games drives my Girlfriend crazy, she also dislikes most of the music I listen to so guess what I got for Christmas.
The Headphones themselves are fairly comfortable and light, considering all the stuff they have on them. The sound is fantastic, it took a little bit of messing around with EQ settings but after that was done they sound just like a 5.1 system.
The only thing that could be improved is battery life. Two AA's will get you two or three days before the headphones start beeping at you (to change the batteries). They give you a set of rechargeable but if you spend any significant time with them on you'll need to pick up another pair of rechargeable (maybe two, just in case).
If your wallet can take the hit I would highly recommend these headphones.
Best headphones money can buy........2004-10-14
These headphones are pretty good. They're perfect for Apartments when you don't want to disturb the people living around you. I would suggest getting a home theatre system though, if you own a home. Headphones fit very comfortably, and have a surprising bass sound coming from such little speakers. If you have the money, they're worth it.
What you would expect.......2004-06-28
They are exactly what you would expect for surround sound headphones. The surround sounds do sound like they are coming from behind you, the sound is not ear-blowing, mind-numbingly "surroundific" but it is better than, lets say, the surround effect you would experience using a good pair of headphones on a surround reciever on headphones surround mode.
looking for quality.......2004-04-05
Not worth the money. Sound is ok you cannot dup 6.1 surround sound w/headphones. Save your money and get a good set of head phones and save $500.00. You will still experience sound travling rt to lft or lft to rt.
