I picked up two of these units for recording sessions, one for the engineer desk and one for the producer desk. The fact that each person has an independent volume control makes everyone happy. The first unit feeds the second one through the monitor output. These small units give good value for the money.
It's important to heed the mfr.'s instructions to start with the volume control down low and then turn it up slowly--with +4 dBm in, we set our volume to about 9 o'clock, and that's plenty!
Great amp for a cue mix........2007-09-20
I have to agree with the product description. It offers clarity: great sound with little noise. I picked one up for my home project studio...I have my rig set up in my living room and use my bedroom as a default iso booth...so I use this to send a separate cue mix to the "talent". Works great...good price.

Cheap, and gets the job done........2007-10-06
This isn't for anyone looking for a professional solution for a headphone amp, but for 99% of people, they just want something cheap that works, and this completes that job with extreme valiance! What a great buy! Works great, small and portable, 2 inputs and 4 channels. This means that you can have 4 headphones and on each channel you can switch between input 1 or input 2. I have this as input one is the feed before signal processing (dry) and input 2 is the signal after processing. Neat!

The Samson S-PHONES 4-Channel Headphone Amplifier/Mixer is a single-rack space, four channel headphone amplifier that allows for monitoring any stereo or monophonic source signal (balanced or unbalanced) over as many as 12 separate headphones. The S-PHONES is loaded with features that provide tremendous flexibility for monitor and cue mixing.
The master input features an input level and LED meter to control and display the overall stereo input. A master inject input allows for a secondary stereo source to be mixed in with the main input signal. Each of the four channels includes three headphone outputs (one on the front panel, two on the rear) with an overall volume control and individual level meters.
