Love this TV.......2007-12-24
Have researched this TV for sometime and the research paid off...love this TV and would recommend it to anyone. If I had the space, I would have gone even bigger to the 50 inch model :)
Excelent TV.......2007-12-23
I really satisfied with the Plasma TV.
The color is excellent.
This TV also has PC input which is great for me.
white glove service not as described.......2007-12-22
The 42 " Panasonic TH-42PZ700U 1080p Plasma HDTV was delivered yesterday. The two "white glove" delivery servicemen removed the TV from the box, "assembled" the remote, plugged in the TV, and tested both to make sure they worked. They would not set up the TV because Panasonic TV's, unlike other brands, are not shipped with the pedestal attached. They said, "We are not installers, but deliverers and thus are prohibited from attaching the pedestal." I asked them to leave it sitting upside down in front of the entertainment center. After they left, I attached the pedestal, which consisted of attaching 2 metal poles to the pedestal with 4 screws, followed by attaching the pedestal to the TV with 4 more screws. It took me about 30 minutes because I had to read the instructions, study the diagram, and line up the poles in the appropriate positions. However, anyone who knew what they were doing could probably complete the task in 5 minutes. The TV weighs 128 lbs. I am a 60-yr-old female. I managed to turn the TV right side up; but I do not have enough body strength to lift 128 lbs into the entertainment center. So, I watched the TV last night while it sat on the floor. It will remain on the floor until someone comes over who can help me lift it; because I don't want to ask friends to come over solely to help me lift it.
Needless to say, I was disappointed to find out the description of the white glove delivery service is not accurate for Panasonic TVs, because the pedestals are in a separate box from the TV. The "not so white" white glove delivery service detracted from what would otherwise have been a happy event. So, if it is important to you to have the TV set up for you, either don't buy a Panasonic or buy it somewhere other than amazon.com.
Panasonic Kept Me Calm Even Though I Didn't Like It........2007-12-21
First I need to declare that I am not a video expert. My research involved several months of going to stores, looking at televisions and quizzing sales peoples. Also I read several articles about how to pick a good television.
I chose the Panasonic mainly because it was a Editors Choice in both PC Magazine and CNET magazine and I found a substantially reduced price on black Friday from 6th Avenue Electronics on Amazon.
The television took about a week to be delivered. We needed the television moved to the basement and were told that the delivery man was only responsible for bringing it in the front door if there were fewer than 4 steps. The delivery man from the company employed by 6th Avenue agreed to help me carry it down the steps. I opened the box and looked at the glass of the television and signed the delivery slip stating that the television and box didn't have any obvious damage.
My wife and I unpacked and set up the televison and turned it on. However the television only showed two colors. Blue and Pink. We called 6th Avenue and we were told that there were no returns and we would have to deal with Panasonic to have our television serviced. I believe this is standard operating procedure for online sales of televisions. They did however promise to call Panasonic and find a repair company. In the documentation provided with the television was a number to call Panasonic Concierge service.
I called the number and was connected with a customer service agent in a matter of minutes who told me an appointment was already set up with Electronic Service Center located in my area. It was Friday that the television was delivered and the appointment was set up for Monday. The representative arrived on Monday within the appointed time and decided we needed a new mother board for the television. The next day I called the service center on Tuesday and was told the part would be delivered on Friday and an appointment was scheduled for Monday. Again, the next business day. On Monday the repairman arrived within the scheduled appointment time and fixed the television.
I wanted to get angry during this experience but I was never given the opportunity. I didn't receive any runarounds or questions. No long waits or lack of communication. Everyone was businesslike and efficient. I'm not sure I would have received the same service from one of the discount companies selling HDTV's. But Panasonic sent me a broken television and made me a happy customer. Who knew.
As far as the television the colors are fantastic. We have had the television for about 2 weeks and we aren't beyond the how great is the picture stage yet. We aren't really paying attention to the details of plot because we are looking at moles on faces and the sharpness of the background of the shot. HDTV and this television is fantastic.
Two things to keep in mind. Standard definition Television is hit or miss here. Some look fairly well and some are unwatchable. Cartoons and newer shows tend to be very watchable but you do gravitate towards High Definition programs. And it is amazing how few channels show High Definition. Also the sound of the television is so good my 5.1 surround system is almost worthless at this time. I have both the television and surround sound on to get the best quality. All the surround sound does better is the sub woofer. For most programming I just use the television.
All in all I am happy with the purchase so far and would highly recommend this television and Panasonics in general.
Beware the power supply problem that can not be fixed by Panasonic .......2007-12-19
I purched the Panasonic TH 42PZ700U in Sept 07 and had power supply problem during Nov 07 and finaly got my replacement coming today 12/19/07. I am not happy with the long waiting in service. The boards kept burning out after trying to replace to fix power supply. Once you have this problem, it can not be fixed by Panasonic.

WOW!.......2007-12-26
I was so pleased with the Sharp Aquos 42" LCD HDTV.Sharp Aquos LC42D64U 42" 1080p LCD HDTV My husband was delighted with this gift. The picture is incredible from anywhere in the room that I view it. The set itself is beautiful. It was very easy to set up and connect all the accessories(DVD player, surround sound, video game). I have nothing but praise for this product.
Very BAD experience with SHARP.......2007-12-24
I am interested, why such a "name" of company like SHARP, produce and place a 3th level product in countries like Croatia or other in east Europe, in these days when via internet you can always tall a THRU, that we pay a lot of money for - nothing! What i wish to say is a "commercial" for the SHARP company - i buy a new LCD42" Aquos and pay for it a not small cash (3000 euros!) and after ONE DAY, TV colapsed down! It is not working! Thank you SHARP!!! Never again you will see me again! Mario Rosanda, Croatia
The Best HD Televsion on the Market.......2007-12-20
Sharp 42" LCD HDTV
Model #: SHA LC42D64U
This was my first purchase for a flat screen television and I waited 3 months to ensure that this product review is as accurate as possible. I'm not the type of buyer to buy a new piece of electronic equipment on a fly. My last television lasted 10 years, needless to say I shop for a long term investment. This television in one word is "beautiful."
We (my wife and I) went to the store to buy a Sony Television--that's all we ever purchased in the past. They are simply too expensive and with the guide of Consumer Reports we started looking at the Toshiba televisions. We saw the picture quality of the Sharp Aquos LC46D64U and we were awestruck. We kept viewing other televisions and kept going back to the Sharp Aquos.
It's just a beautiful piece of Art when it is off. It is incredibly slim and the shiny bezel gives it a golden touch. When it's on, watching the HD channels is so mesmerizing that it literally transcends you. The regular channels look very good as well but of course, not as beautiful as the HD channels. We have standard DVD player and even with that, the picture is absolutely stunning--imagine with HD DVD player.
In addition, the television has an amazing list of features. It has several features including: an analog PC input, HDMI 1.3 with CEC and Deep Color support, side input panel, and a lot more picture adjustment settings. It also has an RS-232 control port if you have a control system for your AV. It has a USB port for updating firmware in the future which is a great addition (this will allow future HDMI protocols to be implemented).
The only draw back I would give is that the speaker sound quality could be better BUT that doesn't take away from the overall performance of the television. If you have a surround sound system, then that reasoning is moot. If you don't, I would still purchase this television because the sound is very good, just in comparison to the television you'll expect a master sound theatre.
This is a True Work of Art.......2007-12-19
First and foremost the picture (1080p) and sound (30 watts) are exceptional. When this TV is hooked up with a digital source (Cable) for digital music the sound coming from the front bar speakers fills the entire room with rich deep bass and great sound overall. The 3 HDMI connections is a huge plus but the one other thing that really should be added to most of these reviews is just how beautiful this 3 3/4 inch thick case looks. Compared to all other lcd's out there, this is a true work of art and the picture is stunning. There is no banding nor dead pixels what so ever, just a gorgeous picture. I think sharp got it right when they put the speakers below the monitor instead of at the sides. The other TV's look too wide because of this while the Sharp's cleaner lines and slight curve on the bottom, which hides the speakers, looks...like a work of art!!! When you register your LC-42D64U with Sharp on-line they automatically extend your warranty for an extra three-months for free. Lastly, thank-you Amazon for the great price and free delivery (white glove) that actually arrived 2 days ahead of schedule in perfect condition. My entire family is very pleased with this TV.
Great Picture, Good PC Display!.......2007-12-07
The picture is great! It took a little while to setup the VGA input from a PC to the TV. I now have a 42 inch PC monitor! I have played Yahoo Movie previews and YouTube videos. The remote control works well. The only problem with the remote usage is you cannot disable a TV channel (Home Shopping, etc). You can create your favorites with three buttons on the remote. It has a display to remember multiple favorites from a lookup menu. It cannot delete a channel when you press the channel up/down button. I watch videos and play on the PC and rarely use the TV tuner so this is a minor concern.

Fantastic Value.......2007-12-23
I bought The Toshiba Regza 42HL167 from amazon for 1265 (no tax and free shipping). The delivery company was excellent and the TV set-up was super easy. This 1080p LCD HDTV is a great value. I researched consumer reports and they gave 5 out of 5 for picture quality and they were right on. I have no complaints about this TV. Best Buy was selling this at $1699 on sale. Amazon is the best price out there when you factor in tax savings plus free shipping. There is no need to spend the extra money for a samsung/Sharp aquos or a Sony Bravia.
More then Pleasantly Surprised.......2007-12-21
I agonized for months over what HDTV to buy. I must have looked at every set available sizes 32 - 50, at every store in my area that sells them. At one store one HDTV would look great and at another a different one would shine. So started looking at reviews on the net and this one kept rising to the top so I decided to take the leap.
So far after a month I have been extremely happy with the LCD. Excellent Picture; Great Built-in Audio; 3 HDMI, Analog PC, and all the rest (8 in total); MPEG Artifact Correction; Beautiful; High Quality Fit and Finish. Purchased an up-conversion DVD player and all the DVD's I have looks awesome on this set. With all that said I must add that the price is just as amazing as the set. Compared with other "top of the line" brands, this set cost several hundreds less. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Set was delivered quicker then expected and the delivery guys brought it in, took it out of the box and placed it where I wanted it. Some of these places offer curb side delivery (you bring in) at a higher price then I paid for this service through Amazon - FREE :-) .
Amazing picture at a great price.......2007-12-15
I spent a lot of time in the big box electronics stores checking out HDTVs before purchasing the Regza. I couldn't afford a Sony Bravia but felt some of the no-name brands offered only fair quality. The Regza is the perfect solution. Amazing picture quality right out of the box for a mid-level price. Also, it has a generous count of 3 HDMI ports. I would have liked a USB port as well, but alas, this is the one tech feature it lacks. Will get a DVD player with a USB port instead. The remote is pretty easy to use and the instruction manual is pretty clear for the most part. The set itself is sleek and understated looking. A great buy!
The 2nd REGZA was fine. The first was damaged in shipping and trying to get it replaced was a challenge........2007-12-15
When you by a set from Amazon the delivery company puts it together but they take off before you can plug it in and test it. Make sure that your set is operating properly before you sign the delivery sheet. The set we received had a screen that was damaged in shipping and it took several days and numerous emails and phone calls before they would replace it.
Good for the price.......2007-12-12
Great TV overall and one of the least expensive of the major name brands. One of my favorite features is the black matte finish to virtually eliminate glare and reflection. Can't say the same about some of the other brands. The downside is that the TV comes with some awful presets for colors and such. Took me several days to get it the way I want, but even still it looks somewhat off. Luckily, it comes with a slew of configurations (especially on service mode). Pictures in high-def look really sharp. Fast movements tend to get a little blurry though. Paid about 1/3rd less than a Samsung equivalent.

Outstanding TV .......2007-12-25
I have spent alot of time reseaching TV's the past 2 Months. At first I was really drawn to LCD because of the bright pictures when viewing in the store. When I really studied the pictures closely I could see the Panasonic really did show more true to life colors. Because plasma shows blacks alot darker than an LCD it tends to make a screen look darker. I have never written a review on any purchase I have made, but have read many to make decisions on purchases. I am so pleased with the quality, ease of setup and price of this TV that I had to write in about it. I would highly recommend this TV!
RETURN.......2007-12-23
I returned the item because it was damaged on delivery. I did not want another one because I consuder it an a substandered item.
Returned 1st one.......2007-12-21
I bought this TV from Sears for 1050 + taxes. I was given 2 weeks waiting for the them to order and received. After 2 weeks got TV from Sears. Opened it and to my dismay there was a crack in the screen. The outside screen was intact but the glass inside was cracked. I imeediatly called the CS and returned and ordered another one. Again I was given a date after 3 weeks. Not a pleasant experience till now but the price is so good i don;t think anyone can beat that price.
Finally I am getting my TV tomorrow. Hopefully TV comesup in good shape So that I can add my comments later one.
Cannot give any bad review for the TV as of yet.
Well worth the money.......2007-12-19
I've now owned this TV for a couple of weeks and must say that it's WELL worth the money. Here's why:
The purchase process:
1) I purchased a great deal through 6ave, $1200 shipped & no taxes.
2) The TV arrived via freight forwarder & local logistics delivery company that brought the TV into my home and I had to inspect the screen before I signed off and they could leave.
The TV itself:
- Works wonderfully with my Time Warner Motorola HD DVR cable box using HDMI. Now only if I more HD channels to watch...
- Works even better with Movies. I have a Toshiba A3 HD-DVD Player connected via HDMI and the picture is just unbelievable! Blacks are beautiful and the colors are vivid.
My concerns before the purchase and now after breaking it in:
1) Anti-glare screen: at first I read mixed reviews. I love it. It truly does an AMAZING job of taking the reflections off the screen in a living room with various types of light. I think the best comparison is a LCD monitor. It has that same "flatness" to it that allows you to enjoy what's on the screen rather than the screen itself. I do not miss the glass effect!
2) Burn-in effect: Haven't noticed it yet so I can't even comment! Not an issue...
3) Brightness vs LCDTVs: this TV is perfectly bright. I don't even have it in Vivid mode and I think it's much better than the OVERLY bright LCDTVs I have seen in people's homes. Again, this is something I worried about when purchasing and now I couldn't be happier with this TV's brightness level.
All in all, a fantastic purchase, I highly recommend it to anyone.
Power Supply Failed After 4-1/2 hours.......2007-12-13
I purchased this TV on a Wednesday from a US Navy Exchange store and arranged for DirectTV to install their system. They came the Friday of the following week. The set was GREAT, WONDERFUL, etc., until we turned it off for supper. An hour later we turned it on and got a "No Signal" message, then the screen went blank.
We turned it off, waited 10-15 minutes, then turned it back on - nothing, not even that message. We called Panasonic's Help number (as listed on the user manual) and the technician asked if there was a red light blinking in the lower left corner. There was - seven slow blinks, then a pause, then repeat.
He said this plasma TV draws almost as much power as an electric dryer during initial start up and most likely the power supply died.
I took it back to the Exchange and they were very understanding and gave me my money back.
I am very disappointed in this Panasonic TV. Usually their products are both wonderful and stable. Not this time.

Very Happy with this product.......2007-12-23
I have never bought anything this expensive over the internet so I was pretty leary; especially when Amazon turned my order over to an independent contractor. But everything turned out just great; I got a great product at a great price and delivered very quickly. I will probably never shop Best Buy again. Vann's, the independent contractor was excellent. This 42 inch HD LCD tv is great; I feel like I saved $900 off the original price plus shipping was free. Setup was relatively easy. I'm glad I shop Amazon.com! Try playing the HD version of The Shooter on this LCD; awesome!
Amazing TV.......2007-12-22
I did a lot of research before I purchased this tv and I am glad I did. This tv has a great picture and is amazingly simple to setup. I have only been watching it for about 4 hours now, but it seems to be a great tv. I would reccomend this tv to anyone. It has a great price to.
Good TV but..........2007-12-19
I purchased this tv to replace my 31" CRT base JVC as our main TV. I love the look and options to this tv. I would have liked to have seen an additional HDMI and RCA jacks on the side as well as PIP. My complaints are, after power on is pressed, it takes 4-6 seconds before it displays a picture/sound, there is a lag of about .5 to 1 sec to change channels, this includes switching video inputs, (I can deal with the short delay here, we just can't stand the long power on lag) and there is no " - " button on the remote (since I still only have comcast analog cable service, but I do pick up the unencrypted digital signals but they are channels like 71-1 - I have seen no name brands in the 20" range have this button) to tune directly to these channels.
I can't wait to try the PS3 connected to HDMI connector to see the picture quality. I also have not tried the usb connector yet. I do see a few HD channels and they look fantastic, especially football games.
My JVC CRT SDTV still looks great and since it is 10 years old, this is one major reason for selecting JVC again. I am going to contact JVC to see if there is an issue with my TV on the power on lag. If it had not been for the power on lag and the lack of - button on the remote, I would have rated this TV a 5 instead of 4

JVC LT-42X688 42" 1080p LCD HDTV
Great TV! Love the HD and it's quite affordable.
JVC 1080P 42WX688.......2007-12-17
I picked up this 42" LCD HDTV from Sams club, under a different model number, and have been excited by it's performance for the entire 3 months I have owned it. HD pictures are rich and vibrant as to be expected. Standard resolution looks good, but it is important to understand that the image quality is only as good as the source. Some non-hd digital channels look awesome, near HD quality in overall appearance. I am consistenly stunned. However, when a non-hd channel source material sucks, this TV really lets you know it; faithfully reproducing every bit of that crappy signal you are receiving.
Some intersting features about this set are:
--It upconverts all inputs to 1080P.
--The remote actually has dedicated buttons for source input selection...no more cycling through menus until you reach the input you want.
--Built in speakers are actually very good.
-I prefer a surround sound typically, but the sound from this set is above average and my family and I often find ourselves using only the TV speakers for normal everyday use. This TV recreates virtual surround sound very well.
I also own a 47" Philips 1080P LCd (from Sam's Club) and a 37" sony Bravia LCD from BB. Of all three Tv's the JVC performs the best at 1080P/I for movies over HDMI. The Phillips handles the xbo360 the best with 1080P over compnent. I am really dissapointed in the sony. I previously had an Aquos that developed banding issues and replaced it with a Bravia. If I could, I'd return the Bravia and get another JVC.
Bottom line, I forked over twice as much for the Sony and a Sharp Aquos from big-name electronics stores and I have been happier overall with the performance and price point of both my sam's club Phillips and JVC.
I have been around home theater for a while and have roots back to RGB projection (think Ampro and Barco) and I must say that the JVC is an excellent buy. Just remember, if you are reading this as you are looking for your first set, be aware that your display usually doesn't get much better than your source signal. With that in mind, know that LCDs are less forgiving in this regard but perform better, use less power, and run cooler in every other regard.

Horrible tv.......2007-12-21
Since we bought this tv, we have had nothing but problems with it and with Sharp. During the first month, we returned it to the store due to a banding issue. During the second month, we called the company to use the warranty to return it again due to the same banding issue. They sent us a new tv which came with yet another banding issue and dark vertical lines that looked like a burn in. We called the company to use the warranty again and they decided to send us the new model(64U), which we just received. This is our 4th tv which is not a new one, but a refurbished one, that came without the correct mounting screws and without a power cord. The only thing Sharp said they could do for us was send us the cord & screws, so in the meantime we are left without a tv.
What a TV!! Sharp Aquos 42".......2007-11-12
We were planning to buy an HDTV for sometime now. My wife did a whole lot of research and we zeroed in on Sharp. Good brand, great looking TV and not as pricey as a Sony...
We have an apartment and the initial few movies took us time to get used to...then we started loving it.
A friend of ours came over and recommended that we need to get a HDMI cable. we got the cable and man what a difference!!!
The picture quality on DVD's is just awesome...I tell you this is a great TV and we love it...we bought it directly at TigerDirect..great site...good service and no complaints...
PS: Dont waste too much time in research....Sony, Sharp and Samsung should be your final three
Better than I thought........2007-10-27
I'm impressed. I watched Patton on it first and was blown away. Maybe I'll get to watch something in HD on it one day if I save my nickels.
Beware of a defective screen - you will be stuck with it!.......2007-10-02
Make sure you carefully examine the picture using the actual unit you will buy, and if you are mail ordering it, make sure you have a good return policy that allows returns for screen defects. Sharp will NOT replace units that have even very noticeable flaws. I have a unit with a region of dim pixels the size of a pea, and they consider it to be 'within spec', and WILL NOT replace it. I made the mistake of taking it to the authorized repair facility, instead of returning it to the vendor immediately. It took them four weeks to finally shoot me down, by which time I could no longer return it to the vendor. Now I own a very expensive television that makes me angry every time I watch it. NICE JOB SHARP!!! They will definitely be at the bottom of my list for my next purchase. Too bad, I used to like their sets.
Impressive and a delight to own.......2007-09-23
We just bought one of these units (9.21.2007). I must say that I am impressed. The picture quality is excellent, with nice colors and a reasonably sharp picture, depending on the signal source. And since it is a 1080p resolution unit, it is ready for the next generation of television and DVDs.
The refresh rate is such that ghosts from moving images are not noticeable. The unit is easy to install and operation is very intuitive.
I really like the black and silver design, and the glossy screen is gorgeous.
Picture quality, judging from side-by-side comparisons at the electronics store, is about average for units of these specifications, which is to say, excellent. All in all, there is a lot to like about this unit, and really nothing at all to dislike.

Thanks Sharp and Amazon.......2007-12-20
I just received my Aquos LC42D72U model TV and it works great. Arrived early and the moving staff help me set it up. Great job. Tickled to be your customer.
Great TV, esp. for the price.......2007-12-07
Great TV. Had their 26" LCD/DVR combo unit and really liked the picture. Couldn't find a better set in the 42" size than Sharp. Works perfectly. Agree with other reviews that extensive picture tweaking is required. Very easy to do, however. Looks great now. Have always had good luck with other Sharp products.
Best price was from Beach Audio. Excellent communication and customer service. Highly recommended.
new tv.......2007-10-24
All expectations fulfilled. Shipped and delivered on time. Installation was easy and picture was better than expected. So good in fact, that we had to upgrade our Dish satellite receiver.
Sharp Aquos.......2007-10-23
I feel the Sharp TV was a good purchase and well worth the money. The picture is excellent; the sound is OK. We have the TV in a very open living area with lots of windows. We were afraid there would be a glare problem but there wasn't. The TV was shipped via "Yellow". It arrived in good condition, however, we were given a 10:00am to 3:00pm window and it didn't arrive until 4:15pm. Since we had to be home for delivery the whole day was pretty much shot.
Better than expected.......2007-10-11
Frankly, it's difficult for me to add much to the positive reviews already posted.
This was my first high-performance TV purchase in 8 years, so one of my main concerns was understanding and using the new technology.
Of course, my concern was unfounded. Picture quality is excellent (just remember "GIGO" is in play here), and the sound via internal speakers isn't bad.
Subjectively, the set is attractive, and install and set-up are very easy. Also, I found the remote to be intuative and simple to use.
Overall, a sure 5-star product.

Great TV!.......2007-12-04
This TV is amazing! The first one I got had some issues with fine detail (particularly with single-pixel-wide sharp contrast). After some investigating I determined the set was messed up and I exchanged for a new one. The problem is gone... It looks great!
I am particularly impressed with the power consumption and energy saving features that come with this TV. Make sure to adjust the "energy saving mode," if you are an
