I bought this charger kit for my Creative Zen Vision M in part because of its modular design but mostly because of its USB cable which has an integrated player adapter: the original Creative adapter cannot be firmly plugged into the player without taking off the player's protective case. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of moderate use, one of two prongs on the wall charger plug became loosen causing its internal wire soldering contact to be broken.

It does what it does.......2007-09-20
It does what it does, which is charge the Zen Vision M quicker than the USB cable would, but it also causes a loud buzzing in the headphones while charging, making it impossible to listen to music while charging the unit.
My best guess is its cheaply shielded and it's electromagnetic noise. I've tried solutions to no avail so buy if you must, but I suggest a higher quality charger.

I bought two AC adapters for my Vision M - one for travel and one for work. They plug directly into the unit (no dongle required!) and permit the unit to remain charged and playing at the same time, unlike the USB control/charger interface.

everything works great....listened to the mp3 for a couple of hours while using the wall charger to find it fully charged in the end......the wall charger takes just a couple of hours to charge up the battery....i have a zen vision 30gb....the cord on the auto charger is just right...dont like long cords all over the car.....

If you're buying a Zan Vision: M, you need this set. The process of charging through the USB cable that comes with the player is ridiculously long and annoying. Both of the chargers work beautifully. I've had absolutely no problems. The only complaint I have is that the cords on these chargers are shorter than I would like. The wall charger cord is 2 or 3 feet long which means it can't go far while it's plugged in. It is hardly long enough to put the player on my desk while it's plugged in. The car charger cord is a foot long, maybe less. It's coiled so that, theoretically, you could stretch it if you needed it to be longer, but in my experience trying to stretch it just pops it out of the lighter socket. So that's something to keep in mind when buying.

Arrived promptly and in pristine condition. Works well with my Zen Vision: M. Came with two adapters--one for the car charger, one for the wall charger. The adapters are a bit of a tight squeeze to plug onto my ZVM, but there was no epic struggle. All in all, decent quality and performance.

Charger doesn't fit.......2007-09-07
I had my items delivered to a friend who is based in Texas. He delivered the items to me when he got back in the Philippines and upon testing, I found out that the item that was delivered didn't fit my Zen Vision:M. I am afraid of insisting to put the charger in the dock since it might destroy the unit that I have. The purchase of this item isn't recommended for international customers.

This charger is great for the creative zen, since the only way you can charge your zen out-of-the-box is through a usb port. It charges the zen pretty quickly, and the best part is is it doesn't cost hardly anything. I bought this charger along with the car adapter, and together they didn't equal the cost of shipping!

My computer for some reason doesn't let me charge my Zen on it so I bought one of these. Works great. It charges very fast even if its almost dead. Well worth it even if your computer works

After using this charger a few times my computer would no longer "see" the device as anything but a unknown device. I was forced to send it back to creative for repairs, which cost me $25. Maybe my Zen was a lemon, but it worked great until I used this product.

I bought one for my PDA. It did not charge it up with the PDA running and with the PDA not running. It would not even keep the PDA from running down it's own battery.

This battery extender is made of fairly light weight plastic and seems somewhat fragile for an item that is likely to be used when traveling. The unit seemed to charge my Palm Tungsten T3 when loaded with 4 Kirkland AA alkaline batteries. However, the manufacturer makes a point of saying that the unit can be used with rechargeable batteries. I found that my high capacity NiMH batteries (2100-2500 mAh) from Sony, Energizer, and Panasonic were too large to fit into the battery compartment. When I measured them with a micrometer, they were just over 1/100 inch larger than the Kirkland AAs. I contacted the manufacturer and was told that the batteries I was using did not meet the industry standard for size and not to use them. I have not had any problem using these batteries in other products. So be warned that, due to the very tight tolerances of this battery case, it does not accommodate batteries that are just every so slightly larger than standard size. I would think that the manufacturer could make the case just slightly larger to accommodate these commonly used batteries.
ADDENDUM: I WAS ABLE TO (BARELY) FIT 4 AA Titanium 2700 mAh NiMH Rechargeable Batteries by Titanium Pow Power into this unit. I purchased these from [...] Based on this, I would give the item 3 stars.

I have this battery extender for my Creative Vision M and I am VERY happy with its performance. I took a look inside of the device to see what that other review was talking about. There is a small circuit inside the battery extender, kudos to Gomadic for such an effective and compact circuit design. I RECOMMEND this battery extender!
Doesn't work.......2006-08-25
This item does not have a DC to DC regulator (I cracked it open and checked). It is simply a battery box with a connector for your device. The charge light on your device may come on but it will take several sets of alkaline batteries to charge the player even once. Don't bother with rechargables as you will need 4 or 5 sets of batteries to charge the unit once. I tested this on a Zen V and a LG 6100 phone with the same result. I even had the company send me another unit, again same result. This is a poorly engenieered product. Don't waste your time and money.
