Had the 640 before this and this seems more durable. The ear holder keeps popping off. Charge times are good. Reception is great. Prettu comfortable. Probably one of the best out there. I want to also try the Jawbone it looks funky and chunky.

Fantastic headset. Works flawlessly with my Nokia 9300. Voice quality is better than any wireless headset I have tried. Convenient carrying case and numerous charging options make this unit very versatile. Comes with a extension for the carrying case that takes a AA battery to recharge the headset if you are on the go and don't have access to USB or AC power. Battery life is somewhat short but that is the price you pay for the small size of this unit.

I bought this bluetooth headset based on general reviews. This is my first bluetooth device and I am really satisfied with it. I dont understand the few bad comments about it that I could read. Calls dont drop, the sound quality is great and people can hear me very well, even the car (where it really matters). I recommend this product.

I'm mostly happy with this product. I had one before, which I managed to lose. I was happy enough with this headset that I went ahead and purchased this additional one.
Good
* The audio for me is quite adequate, very little static or interference, unless a solid object is between my phone and the headset (e.g. if the headset is in my left ear and my phone is on my right hip or in my right pocket).
* It's small and very portable and unobtrusive.
* The "optional" ear hanger works well, I don't see how anyone could feel secure using this headset without it.
* I like the fact that I can charge it with my normal phone charging tip for my Treo 755. Now that have two charging sleeves, I leave one in my office and one in my briefcase, which takes up almost no space in the pouch for my Juice 70 universal charger.
* They fixed the problem with the headset popping out of the charging sleeve - I had this problem a bit with my old one, but my new one seats in very nicely.
Bad:
* It's almost too small, making it easy to lose and misplace.
* Without the optional ear hanger, I can't see how this would stay securely in somebody's ear - none of the 3 sizes of ear gels worked to hold the headset securely.
* The ear gel and ear hanger come off of the headset too easily. It seems that I can't put this in my pants pocket without it coming loose, then I have to fish around for each part individually. I lost an ear gel the other day due to this problem.
* The ear gels wear out over time. I had one get so slimy and gunked up that I decided to throw it away and grab another different-sized spare from the package. The good thing about wearing the ear hanger is that I've had good success with all three ear gels, not needing to worry about a tight fit.
* I've had some friends and colleagues complain that they can't hear me very well, although others haven't indicated a problem.

Plantronics 645 Bluetooth Headset.......2007-09-11
Overall, the unit is ok. Not a glowing review but if no wired headsets were available, I would use this. The quality on my end is very good. However, most people on the other end of the line complain of poor quality audio, clipping, and static. As soon as I terminate the bluetooth connection they instantly say, "that's much better!"
I have the unit paired with a Blackberry Pearl 8100. Hopefully those of you using the Pearl will have better success pairing with this headset.

After doing some extensive research checking CNET reviews along with Amazon customer reviews, I finally decided the Plantronics Discovery 640E headset was the best match for what I was looking for. The pros: the audio quality is superb, accessibility for accepting a call is easy and adjusting the volume on the headset is a breeze. You can also use this headset without attaching that "thing" that goes over your ear. You get three ear pieces to choose from. It's simple, sounds great, and it's comfortable. Just make sure it's compatible with your cell phone before you spend the money.

Since first purchasing my Bluetooth capable phone in February 2007, I have tried no less than 6 Bluetooth headsets. All of them that I tried before this one would cut out and and sounded terrible. Many of them had such sensitive microphones that people could hear everything that was going on around me when I talked to them.
This unit has a good mic and people no longer complain that the noises around me are too loud for them to take. They can hear me well, but not every door slam or conversation around me. I read several reviews that said this is a very good unit. The reviews were not wrong.
The unit is nearly the smallest I have found. It looks good on my ear. I did have to use the (included) ear hanger piece to keep it on my ear. It is supposedly designed so that one can just put the gummy earpiece in one's ear and go. But my ear is big and none of the gummy earpieces were capable of staying in my ear. Besides, when I spend this kind of money on something, I don't want any chance it is going to come off my ear and be lost or broken. So, if you can't get the earpieces to fit, just use the hanger.
Unit is easy to use. Works with voice dialing and will dial the last number dialed with just a press of the button twice. Answer and hang up with the button. Volume is on the unit and works well.
It comes with a normal plug-in charger AND a pocket charger that will charge it off of a AA battery. That is handy to just put in your bag or briefcase and charge in an emergency away from home and the home charger.
I would buy this unit again.

Bought this to carry in pocket when not in ear. Callers say sounds a bit tinny but ok. Like clip for pocket. Pocket charger a bit heavy. Doesn't feel very secure in my ear. bought and use mostly another headset that sounds better to callers

I've used this headset for almost two months now, and there's nothing I can complain about. I'm always mobile -I drive a lot for work, and need the ability to work without holding a phone or killing my neck- and this headset is a lifesaver. I don't know how I ever thought corded headsets were great.
This headset is great. It's very light, very small, fits my ear well, has great call quality, and actually has multipoint -so I can use it with both of my cells (personal and work) at the same time. I really like the fact that I can use the AAA charger with it if I've had it on all day, and I've never been out of juice, yet.
If I'm somewhere with a lot of noise or wind, I can tell that the person I'm speaking with has a harder time hearing me, but it hasn't been a conversation-stopper, and nobody has ever brought it up.
When on multipoint, it doesn't switch over from phone to phone instantly; when checking voice-mail, you might miss a word or two of the computer's introductory speech.
My wife liked my headset, so I let her try it, and now she has one, too. I highly recommend this product.

I have owned the Discovery 645 Headset and loved it. I was disappointed in this headset. It is always falling apart and losing the ear plug. The sound quality is not as good as the 645. I will be purchasing a new headset soon.

This was my fourth bluetooth headset, and while it was much more comfortable than my last Jabra (which I HATED!!!), it worked a total of two(2) times before it would not take or hold a charge. It is very light so you don't even feel it in your ear, but what good is that if it doesn't work. Reading the reviews of newer headsets (Jawbone, motorola 9) it appears the quality control across the board is terrible...I live in CT, where hands free is mandatory, but I'll go back to risking a ticket before buying yet another useless ear ornament.

Terrible product! My cell has to be within 1 foot of the headset or there's terrible static. If there's even the quitest ambient noise in the background my caller has trouble hearing me. The earpiece is constantly coming off. VERY poorly designed. I'm on Amazon.com looking for a better one as I write this!

I'm very satisfied with this headset. It's easy to operate and paired easily with my Treo. Audio quality is acceptable and from the other headsets I've tried, I think it's as good or better than others. I had a problem with the battery not charging after about 8 months. Plantronics sent me a new one and just wanted the old one shipped back in the box. Fast, easy and great product support, just make sure you've got a copy of your purchase receipt.

My 3-yr old Plantronics BT headset got very dirty & 'melting' ear plugs. Probably due to the reason that I cleaned it every night w/ an alcohol-based wipe. Well, it got to a point that even my gf complained of how ugly it looked. So I got this replacement kit. The new earplug seems to be made tougher & more rigid. But it works just like I expected.

bought this for my iphone, works great. just turn it on, hold near the iphone, and plug in the access code. sounds great in the car, and walking around the house, although did notice some static with distance from iphone. very light, looks cool, barely notice it in your ear, works with or without the "ear" wrap attachment. would suggest for iphone users.

One drawback: The plastic around the earbud attachment wears out over time as you take it out and reinsert. This is a Plantronics issue. I had the 640 and it did the same thing, which is why I had to buy this one to replace it.
Other than that, it's great. Like I said, it pairs to two bluetooth enabled devices simultaneously. I have two cell phone, one personal, one work, and I like that I can use them both on one earpiece.
I can hear well, some complain they can't hear me at times,when there is background noise, but that is common for wireless devices. It's stylish, terrific, good talk time, and quick charging.
