The Motorola H9 is a slight improvement in sound quality over my previous headset, a Motorola H500. The H9 ear bud does seal out more of the ambient environment noise, but the highest volume levels of both appear to be identical and are still too low. I find the ear hook of the H500 to the ear bud of the H9 as a more secure way to wear the headset.

Average.... Battery life is not so great... one long conversation and it is done. Only saving grace is the portable cordless charger, but if you have back to back calls, it is a little frustrating. I got it because it was small and fit down in your ear (I like my sony ear phones that fit down in the ear - they are comfortable and have amazing clarity). The only other thing is that it fits down in my ear, but occasionally feels like it could possibly fall out.

the Motorola Miniblue H9 is everything you want on a compact, light weight bluetooth. Not only the talk time is more than sufficient for any phone you can think of, you can also take the charger on the go to give it more juice when need it. now if they only made it for the phones. bottom line you will have a bluetooth when you need it just hope you have a phone to keep up with it.

I purchased the H9 for 2 reasons. Small size and has an earbud for better sound and a comfortable fit. I am satisfied with both of those requirements. Sound quality from speaker is very good. The earbud is comfortable and blocks out ambient noise.
The downsides are few, but there are two issues that trouble me about the product. 1. The microphone is very sensitive. In a quite area the person you are speaking with can hear you very clearly. However, any background sounds are picked up and makes it difficult for people to hear you speak. 2. The charging system comes with an AC adapter, however I also have a Motorola RAZR and a Y-Adapter for charging both phone and Headset. The H9 charger requires the same connector as the phone, so therefore the Y-Adapter isn't recommended for it. I have to now use two AC Adapters.
Overall I like the product and would recommend it.

I love this little gadget! Its small size aside, my voice is apparently not distorted (at least not any more than by the cell phone itself) based on the people I've talked to using the device. And I can hear the other side pretty clearly too. It's very easy to operate (easier than the Motorola HS850 I had previously). The charger is great in that not only can one conveniently charge the headset every time after talking so that the 1 hr talk time for the headset doesn't look so bad any more, it also doubles as a storage device so that you can put it (the charger/headset combo) in your pocket and don't need to worry about losing the (much smaller) headset easily. There is no need to worry about the headset falling off your ear - it fits pretty snugly. A couple of downsides which I can easily live with are as follows. First, the range is relatively short - say about 6 ft before voice quality starts to suffer. So it's good to have the phone close by when you talk. Second, my ear gets itchy after I wear it for, say, an hour or so. However, I'm not one of those who needs to have it glued to my ear all day long. I only put it on when I need to talk. Since there is no need to configure it for left or right ear, you can simply pull it out of one ear and insert it to the other when you get itchy and keep talking. Of course, the short (1-2 hr) talking time would be nice not to have. But as I said earlier, it's really not that much of a hassle for someone like me who is not constantly on the phone. I can wait for half an hour for it to charge in the charger before talking again. Having said all of the above, clearly, this is not ideal for someone who talks for long hours all day long. They need a real work horse for doing that.

this bluetooth is very cute , but it works horribly , it has major echo issues , wind and background noise , even though these are exactly what it is supposed to minimize , don't buy it unless you live in a sterile noise free environment

I was very exited to get this product since it was advertised as being so small and unobtusive, and the picture showed it fitting snuggly in the ear. Too bad the marketing was better than the actual product, but I guess that happens more often than not... This uncomfortable piece of plastic hurts going into the ear canal, has lots of static sounds on the user end and I am told by the people that I tried to talk to that it picked up all kinds of backgound noise, and then the the pins on the charger broke less than a week into my owning this item! Not what I expected from Motorola. I will keep looking for a bluetooth unit that is small and comfortable.

The use of a bluetooth devise is not only practical, but increases the safety of the user. The only drawback of the Bluetooth headsets are they are unattractive and make the user look like someone out of science fiction.
The H9 headset fits comfortably in the ear and is far less obvious than the H500 or other devices and has equal, if not better, clarity of sound. In fact, because it fits within the ear, it is easier to hear conversation under windy or noisy conditions.
The H9 charger also works well and is easy to use.
If the use of a Bluetooth headset is uncomfortable or the user doesn't like the look of something hanging out of his/hefr ear, the H9 is the answer.

H9 Earbud Review.......2007-09-13
The ear bud is small and fits entirely inside the ear. This makes hearing in high noise backgrounds better than the outside ear buds. Downside is that the earbud is not held in place and fast head movement can result in ear bud falling from ear. Ear bud charging also requires a mini-tower which requires one more thing to be carried during travel. Audio quality is ok but rather tinny. It is a serviceable piece of equipment but not the breakthrough design I was expecting. Would not recomment

Works well. Leaving it in the ear for a long period of time is somewhat annoying and somtimes you forget about it. It makes my ear itchy at times. Have to get used to using it. Otherwise, it works as intended.
LET THE NOISE IN!!!!.......2007-08-25
Well....I've owned this bluetooth for at least four months now; I bought this the first week of release. The anticipation was great,I read every article and review on the H9 that I could. I so wanted this headset to live up to all it's hipe, but it fell well short of that. First off I am totally use to wearing in ear headphones in fact I prefer them over the standard over the ear variety. But with the H9 I've yet to find any of the ear pieces that fit correctly,none of them stay in, I'm constantly pushing it back in my ear. That really sucks! The good thing is I can hear the party I'm talking to very clearly, but the awful thing is they can't hear me very well. The caller says I sound like I'm under a rock. Whats even worse is when I'm in a noisy environment the caller can hear everything else around me except me, the caller can only make out half of what I am Saying because the unit is picking up all the back ground noise and I mean all the noise. The main reason I bought this unit is because Motorola kept bragging about how well the H-9 works in noisy enviroments.It was also a little larger then I thought. The base that charges the headset does not last long I have to recharge the whole unit and base about every two days,wheather I use the headset or not. I have the real unit and not the fake one because I ordered it directly from Motorola.It took me a long time to write this review because frankly I'm embarrassed by making this purchase, I consider myself to be Techo Savvy and I kept telling all my friends how wonderful this headset was going to be. This is the first time I ever made a bad informed purchase. I can not recommend the Motorola Mini Blue H-9 in good faith to anyone but my worse enemy. I'm being very generous in giving this two stars. The concept was great, but they need to start over from scratch...

I'm worried about all the negative reviews, especially with where the reviewers purchased the headphone. 95% of the Motorola H5/H9 sold on eBay are fake ones, in a non-sealed package, with a charger base that has a VERTICAL battery icon. The real on has a HORIZONTAL battery icon. The Fake headsets sounds HORRIBLE, and does not have the in-ear mic only an external mic.

Contrary to the other review, I have had good experience with H9. I have owned over the years a total of 5 bluetooth headset. I would rank this one second to the best one I own. Some people will find it difficult to get the unit to stay comfortably in the ear canal. With some patience, you will be able to find one of the included attachments that will fit right. Although, do not expect to be running and jumping with the unit inside your ear as it would not stay in place. Another draw back is that you NEED to use the included base to charge the unit--the unit cannot be charge any other way.

Great sound and comfort, but short talk time........2007-09-17
I bought this two days ago. The fit, sound quality and comfort are good. I thought it would fall out of my ear, but it is very light and fit securely in my ear.
The description online says up to 7 hours or so, but what it didn't state in detail is that it lasts that long only by using it with the charger. I was on a call for 1.5 hours and it started to die on me. I checked some other website and they do say that the earpiece lasts 1.5 hours and can be used for up to 7 hours with the charger. If I'm on a call for longer than 1.5 hours or have used it before a long call, it will not last. What is the point of having a handsfree headset if you need to switch to your phone, while you recharge the headset?
I'll know better when I go to return this headset for one with a longer, continuous talk time.
The talk time is my only complaint. I would love this headset if it had a talk time of at least 4 continuous hours.
