Customer Reviews:
It works! A miracle! It's cheaply made!.......2007-04-18
I own a KRZR. I needed a car-charger for it. This one seemed cool because of it's retractable cord. It IS cool! Has a bright blue light so you know it's on, and the retractable cord is key - I don't need wires sticking out of anywhere from within my car! Works great. I assume this mini-usb charger works for many other things, but all I care about is charging my phone when I use the GPS function, which is a battery-killer.
*UPDATE: After only a few dozen uses, this piece of crap BROKE. The mini-usb plug in part literally fell apart. The plastic isn't well-put-together and after only a few snaps of the retractable cord, it broke into several pieces. This thing is legit garbage.

Amazon.com Product Description
The BlackBerry 7100t is the first of its kind--a fully-featured mobile phone that delivers the power of BlackBerry e-mail. This is one sweet little phone, loaded with all of the cool features you want, like integrated Bluetooth connectivity, speakerphone, and downloadable ringtones. Plus, surf the Web the way it was meant to be surfed with an ultralarge, high-resolution color screen.
Take a closer look at the 7100t's functions. You can also see it in action. |
Design
Design-wise, the 7100t is a departure from previous BlackBerry models. This BlackBerry is far more phone-like, and RIM's engineers have managed to fit a QWERTY keyboard onto the handset's slim frame. Each button on the keypad shares two letters; the unit automatically determines which letter is the intended one based on what it predicts you are trying to spell. This unique predictive text technology, known as SureType, makes the 7100t's diminutive size possible. SureType also learns the words you use most often, further enhancing your typing speed.
The 7100t sports a large 240 x 260 pixels screen with 65,000 colors--plenty of real estate to view your e-mails, Web browser content, messaging sessions, and attachments. The venerable BlackBerry jog dial is located on the right side of the unit for quick scrolling through menus and e-mails. A speakerphone is housed in the top portion of the rear of the handset, just above the removable battery door. There's also a standard 2.5mm headset jack that can be used with the included headset.
Calling Features
All the calling capabilities you've come to expect in a wireless phone are present in the 7100t. The unit's speakerphone makes it easy to use the device hands-free, or, if you prefer, you can use a wireless headset via the 7100t's built-in Bluetooth capability. A vibrating alert, speed dial, and a contacts list/address book (limited only by the unit's 32 MB of internal memory) are also included. Any of the phone's 32 included polyphonic ringtones can be used to create caller-specific ringers so you can know who's calling without having to look at the handset. More ringtones are available from T-Mobile's t-zones mobile Web service.
Messaging, Internet, and Tools
While the 7100t is a different kind of BlackBerry, it still delivers the legendary BlackBerry e-mail experience. With T-Mobile's BlackBerry service plans, you can receive e-mails instantaneously from up to 10 e-mail accounts (personal and enterprise). With BlackBerry push technology, you don't need to retrieve your e-mail all at once. BlackBerry devices are designed to remain on and continuously connected to the wireless network, allowing you to be discreetly notified as new e-mail arrives. Support is also built in for viewing e-mail attachments (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, and PDF formats).
If your company has BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed, you can take advantage of the power of wireless calendar synchronization. Your calendar events are exchanged wirelessly and automatically so that your desktop calendar and BlackBerry device calendar are synchronized. All your Outlook meeting requests, changes, and updates are instantaneously synchronized with your desktop. Make meeting requests, invite new attendees, and more, all on your 7100t. Users without Enterprise Server support can manually sync with their desktop calendars and contacts via Bluetooth or USB by using the included BlackBerry Desktop software.
Use the 7100t's Web browser to access the Internet from the palm of your hand. Browse Web sites, get up-to-date stock quotes, read the latest news, check weather reports, and do even more. Instant messaging and wireless messaging are also built into the 7100t. The unit supports AOL, Yahoo, and ICQ instant messaging, as well as SMS text messaging. MMS messages can be received and forwarded.
The 7100t ships with a number of tools, including a calculator with a unit converter and a to-do list. The unit supports Java application and game downloads (available via the t-zones service). One game, BrickBreaker, is included.

Customer Reviews:
Rotten Berry.......2006-01-06
Don't buy this phone.
The ugly:
Endless resets. More than once I had to pull the battery out to get it to work. It will keep searching for a signal until you do so.
It also gets into a "call failed" mode that will go on and on until you...big surprise....pull the battery and watch the dancing hour glass.
Many is the time due to the above that I did not know I could not get calls and almost mucked up my day.
Ringer very low and the setting are overly complex. Crappy ring tones.
The organizer---you'd do better with a PDA.
The good...
When I am done with my contract I will get a nail and drive it through the electronic heart of this piece of junk.
The good and the bad.......2005-12-30
I have been using this device for 8 months and been pretty happy with it. As with all phones and PDA's it has it quirks. The biggest one being that it occasionally locks up and there is no rhyme or reason to why and sometimes takes 20 minutes to get the thing reset and back up and working. It is not something that happens all the time but it does happen.
On the pluses, syncing with my corporate mail, calanders and contacts without any effort on my part. I love this seemless integration.
On the negetive,it is hard to dail numbers while doing something else, like driving.
Jury's still out on the perdictive typing. And with large fingers, sometimes I may cause my own issues.
Overall, I like the device and am going purchase one for my wife who has email envy...
Good until it stops working.......2005-12-30
I liked this phone pretty well until the 'shift' key stopped working. It started acting up a week before warranty ran out--unfortunately, I didn't click to that, and I waited to see if it would work itself out. It just got worse.
I had run down T-Mobile in this review previously, as they were not much help in this situation, but I am not sure that's fair. If the phone's out of warranty, it's out of warranty, you know? I was just frustrated. I've been content w/T-Mobile overall, though this instance wasn't resolved satisfactorily.
Pretty good software, OK phone service, subpar keypad design. I see they've changed the keys on the 7105--maybe they changed some things for the better. I do not recommend the 7100, however.
Had it for while.......2005-12-02
This device does an outstanding job with email. The PDA functionality is equally good and syncs nicely with outlook. Personally, I have not had a problem with battery life, although the phone quality is not perfect. Using the Suretype keypad is almost as fast as typing on a regular QWERTY keyboard. I give this device an overall 4 because the browser is a disaster (but that's hardly RIM's fault). It's way too slow and altogether very annoying. Buy this device for its email functionality and not the browser. My overall experience: cannot survive without it.
Great for email - bad for phone calls.......2005-11-27
I have had my phone for almost one year. The screen is great, emails come through fast and I have no problem typing a quick email or text message with the keys. However, the microphone is super sensitive and picks up every bit of background noise. Plus, you have to keep the phone well away from your mouth or people will not be able to hear you. Many times people tell me it sounds like you are in a tunnel. In the car, the sound is worse. I am going to look at that new blackberry 8700 that Cingular now offers as a replacement. And i did download the latest software that was supposed to fix this microphone problem, it didn't.

Customer Reviews:
Got this for my husband.......2007-07-21
I got this for my husband to replace his work phone - a Palm treo - when he retired. He picked it out for its smaller size and feel, as well as its capabilities. He loves it, but there are a couple of things I should mention: 1) It has no camera, which was a bonus with his work phone. 2) You can't access t-mobile web for $5.99 like you can with other t-mobile phones, which would be nice at this point. You have to pay $20 for real blackberry web access, which is more than we need. I think that is true with all blackberries and carriers, but it knocks my review down to four stars.
That said, he loves his phone. The texting is great, he says it never makes a mistake and has a better vocabulary than my little VM phone. Whether he works / sails during his retirement, the capabilities of this phone will work for him.
Unreliable........2007-06-12
I have had this phone for less than 6 months. It periodically deletes my call logs and emails and resets itself. There are times when it is "processing" for up to five minutes. When I called support I was told "this is a know error of that device!!!" It wasn't made known to me when I bought the phone!
I was told that if there are too many messages, the device will automatically clear out. It gives no prompt. Also, it deletes text messages before I can read them! I get notification of a new message, but when I go to the inbox it is completely empty!
This occurs when the phone is totally empty, not only with full memory.
In addition, it has been downloading ALL my email, even one marked read, without notice or reason. I will check my phone only to see that there are 250+ new messages! The time it takes to clear these errors is not worth the effort.
My sister has a treo, I'm trading in.
Please heed this advice and avoid.......2007-04-30
I have had this phone for almost a year and it has been great until quite recently. It started when I had to struggle to hear someones voice on the other side of the line because there voice was so low. Then it started DELETING all text messages and call logs (right after the call came in). Then it just started overloading, during normal operations you know like coming out of key lock, and selecting an item, RIDICULOUS. How can it get this overloaded, it was so overloaded that I couldnt even answer a call because it couldnt process it. This is the worst phone I've ever had, and I dont want to even deal with getting it fixed or getting a new one. Im just gonna get a new one and definetely not another blackberry for quite some time.
Horrible.......2007-04-11
It's too bad that I couldn't give this a zero. I bought my BlackBerry 7105t one year and nine days ago. My warrenty was for one year and it broke yesterday. Would they try to help me? Nope. After trying to fix the phone (it didn't fall and break, it broke down in the middle of me writing an email) for over an hour with a tech, I was finally told that I was welcome to purchase a new phone. Well wasn't that nice of them, to let me buy another phone after the $400 phone I bought one year and nine days earlier broke.
This wasn't the only issue I had with this phone either. As soon as I started using it I kept hearing my friends on the other line telling me that I was always breaking up. I eventually called customer care and they told me that the microphone on this model was sensitive and anyone with a deep voice was hard to hear unless the volume was turned down. So I turn down the volume on my phone so people could hear me. Well then I couldn't hear anyone talking to me. Luckily I was able to reach another genius in their customer care department who told me to change the volume when I wanted to talk and when I wanted to listen. I guess I should have bought the $4000 that wouldn't make me have to do that.
Long story short....if I can stop one person from buying this phone them my work here is done.
This phone isn't very smart........2007-03-28
I have suffered through the Blackberry 7105t since March 2006. This phone has a very limited memory and a tragic response to overload--it deletes all text message history and call logs!
Thinking this may be a problem with my specific device prompted me to use the warrenty to replace it with another 7105t. The replacement phone has the same problem.
Every person I've met with this phone has expressed the exact same difficulty with this phone.
Do yourself a favor and try something else.
