LG FUSIC Phone (Sprint)

Amazon.com Product Description

Slim, sleek, and incredibly powerful, the LG Fusic is designed to bring music and high-speed data access together to make one beautiful, harmonious handset. To make music navigation easy, the Fusic is designed with an external navigation pad similar to the most popular MP3 players. It even has an FM transmitter so you can listen to your tunes through your car or home stereo. The Fusic supports Sprint's awesome Power Vision high-speed data and media service, and it also features a 1.3 megapixel camera, advanced voice recognition, Bluetooth, a microSD memory card slot, and more.

The Fusic packs powerful features into a smooth design that's sure to turn heads. See it in 3D.
Design
The Fusic's trendy design dispenses with the humdrum clamshell look of the past, making this phone look and feel like a music player that just happens to be an incredibly powerful phone. The device sports a large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors. The outside cover of the handset features a supplementary 96 x 96 full-color display that can display music player information, pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. Meanwhile, handy media control buttons are placed below the outer display. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad. A charging port and USB data cable port are placed on the bottom of the phone and, as mentioned, there's a microSD slot for memory expansion. Listen to your favorite music in stereo when using the included stereo headset. And if you want to make your Fusic match your personality, the front faceplate is replaceable.

Calling Features
The Fusic's internal phone book can hold up to 500 contacts, and the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures and ringtones to your most common callers. The phone ships with many polyphonic ringtones, but for those times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear, and advanced voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates easy. Simply say the name or number of the person you want to call and the number is dialed automatically without using the keypad. No prior voice training is needed. Lastly, because the Fusic is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
With support for Sprint PCS picture and video mail services, the Fusic is a messaging powerhouse. Shoot high quality pictures and video clips with sound and instantly send them to email addresses and or other Sprint PCS phones that are compatible with picture and video mail services. Or upload them to the Sprint PCS pictures Web site (sprint.com/picturemail) to create albums. You can also use the Fusic to send and receive email, exchange text messages, or join a chat room. Plus, the Fusic features an embedded SMS voice messaging client for quickly sending voice messages to other wireless users or any working email addresses.

The real power of the Fusic comes alive with Sprint's PCS Power Vision services. Relying on Sprint's new EV-DO high speed data network, Power Vision allows you to enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, and more.

You can also stream or download music to your phone with Sprint's Music Store service. Download stereo-quality, digital tracks instantly to your phone. Choose from hundreds of thousands of full-length songs from virtually every genre. Select songs directly from the phone and listen to them wherever you go. Even download them to your PC.

And last but not least, enhanced 3D games, personalized news and information tickers, and downloadable screen savers and ringtones are also available through the Power Vision service.

Sprint's high speed data network allows you to browse the web like never before while you're on the go. Check out full-color versions of popular web sites or purchase and download premium applications to your Sprint Power Vision Phone. You can also use the included USB cable or Bluetooth to connect to a PC, allowing Internet and email access on your laptop wherever you roam.

The Fusic is packed with useful tools to make your life more productive and fun. A voice memo recorder lets you record up to three minutes of spoken voice notes. The phone also includes an alarm clock that can be set one time or daily, a calendar with a to-do list and a scheduler, a calculator, a stopwatch, and a world clock. A PC synchronization application makes it possible to sync your phone's data with your PC.

Imaging and Entertainment
As mentioned, the Fusic features a powerful camera that can be used to capture and send video and still images. The camera also has an LED flash and a self-timer, as well as controls for brightness and white balance. A built-in media player lets you see and hear streaming and stored media, and it supports MP3, AAC, and AAC plus audio files. And where will you put all these pictures, videos and songs? On a microSD card, of course (sold separately). Don't forget about the unique FM transmitter, which makes it easy to listen to the Fusic's music via any radio tuner. The phone takes gaming to the next level, too, with support for advanced, action-packed 3D games.

Vital Statistics
The LG Fusic weighs 4.23 ounces and measures 3.78 x 1.89 x .78 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.5 hours of digital talk time. It runs on the CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

1 out of 5 stars Phone disconnected as soon as someone picked up the phone.......2007-12-18

Do not buy this phone. This phone sound like it would be great.
- 1.3 meg pix camera
- FM receiver
- MP3 Player

I had the phone less than a year and it broke. It seemed fine until it started disconnecting every time I made a call. They said the warranty would be not be covered because Sprint noticed the moisture sensor had been activated. This phone never got wet.
Do not buy this phone.

1 out of 5 stars The worse phone I've owned.......2007-10-29

I have owned a Motorola, Samsung, and a Nokia. This has been the worst experience. I returned my first one since it would not hold a charge and even the screen would flicker.

No one makes good chargers for this phone except LG. Do not bother with third party chargers (they will not work but try if you feel like wasting money). There are several reasons why I give it such a poor rating.

No chip to swap numbers. I'm sorry, I do not care to have a hard drive so all my numbers are retained only on the phone and to transfer it I have to pay a transfer fee. Uncool!

The only good sound is if you had a headset. The speaker is sub par.

The FM transmitter has never been all that reliable.

Sometimes the phone doesn't ring. I just get a voicemail. I have read that I am not the only one with this issue. I checked to see if I had it on no ring or no vibrate mode, and it was on maximum ring!

Lastly, but most imporantly...battery life. It is horrible. Yes, I did change some settings to extend battery life. Such as turning off the keypad, dimming after a few seconds delay, etc. Giving me another battery at the Sprint store after giving me a hard time for brining it back doesn't retain customer loyalty.

One pet peeve - The icons switch back and forth. If I get a voicemail it can't decide on giving me an envelope or a mailbox icon with sound waves.

Buyer Beware on this phone.

1 out of 5 stars I hate this phone!!!.......2007-09-13

This is the worst phone I have ever had! I have had it only for a year and I have replaced it once already because of the battery not working. I am now having to get it replaced for a second time for the same issue. I will have full bars and talk on the phone for 2 minutes and then the phone goes dead! I also don't get my text messages half the time and if I do get them it will be 2 days later when I receive them.

2 out of 5 stars LG has problems - great features, bad batteries galore.......2007-06-25

I am on my third fusic. First one worked great until i killed it with an aftermarket charger (Don't skimp on the charger, not worth it. I have killed 2 phones now with cheap chargers). Was able to get Sprint to send me out a replacement. The battery only lasted a day. I would charge it overnight, come home from work with still a full charge, next morning it would be dead. Should last around 5 days in standby, like my first one. This one also would intermittently go directly to voicemail and i wouldn't get voicemail notices. Went to Sprint store this time and got another replacement. It got worse. Battery only lasted for 7 hours and same intermittent ring problem. Went back to sprint store and tried to get another replacement, but they would only give me a new battery. This seems to have done the trick. I'm back to 5 days of standby. This phone is back to being awesome!!!

I love all the features of the phone. Most important to me is the built in FM Transmitter (no other in Sprint has it). I think more battery replacements will be in my future. I would recommend this phone for the features, but not the reliability. Get the warranty.

1 out of 5 stars POS.......2007-06-06

My wife and I each have the Fusic - for 6 months now. She had battery issues right away - it took some time for my phone to develop the same problems. We have both had the batteries changed out, and I'm ready for another...

LG LX-350 Phone (Sprint)

Amazon.com Product Description

This sleek clamshell comes packed with deluxe features that discriminating wireless users crave. With Bluetooth, dual color displays, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and a lot more, the LG LX-350's got it where it counts. It's also a great companion for Sprint PCS users who want the power of PCS Vision functionality.

Design
The LX-350's handsome clamshell form factor houses an internal 128 x 160 display that boasts 262,000 colors. There's also a supplementary, 96 x 64 OLED color display on the front cover that displays pictures, call information, battery life, time of day, signal strength and more. The camera unit is placed just above this display, while most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button above the handset's dial pad. A button to engage the camera for quick shots is on the right side of the phone, while volume control keys are placed on the left. A 2.5 mm headset jack is also provided.

Calling Features
With 30 MB of internal memory, The LX-350's built-in address book is designed to handle all the contacts you can throw at it. You can customize your caller ID by linking a downloaded image or one of your photos to a specific phone number in your contact list. Likewise, you can associate callers with specific ringtones. And speaking of ringtones, you can choose from 309 built-in ring tones, offering a variety of traditional ring tones as well as up to 72 chord polyphonic melodic ring tones. There's also a vibrating alert for when you want to be discreet. Meanwhile, advanced voice recognition lets you say the name or number of the person you want to call and the number is dialed automatically without using the keypad. No prior voice training is needed. Plus, a speakerphone makes it easy to talk while you're busy with other tasks.

The LX-350's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911 (where available). Perhaps most importantly for users in rural areas, the LX-350 is a tri-mode phone, meaning it can operate on Sprint's digital PCS network, as well as analog networks that serve many outlying areas.

Because the LX-350 is Bluetooth-enabled, you can use a variety of headsets and handsfree kits for total wireless freedom when you're on the go.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The LX-350 covers the messaging basics with support for sending and receiving text and picture messages. With Sprint PCS Picture Mail, you can take a picture anytime and send it to family and friends instantly while on the Sprint PCS Network (Sprint messaging charges apply). And because the LX-350 supports video capture and playback, you can also send video messages via Sprint PCS Video Mail. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built-into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

The phone also supports PCS Vision email and instant messaging capabilities. Sprint PCS Vision transforms the wireless experience from something that's simply functional into something visual, entertaining and highly personalized. MSN Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, and AOL Instant Messenger are all supported by Sprint's PCS Vision service. PCS Vision mobile Web services let you check out sports scores, get your seven-day forecast, check your flight status, and stay up to date with the latest news. You'll also experience full-color graphic versions of popular Web sites. The phone also supports multimedia services that, with the built-in Sprint Media Player, allow you to see and hear the latest music, plus headlines and video clips of artist interviews and performances.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the LX-350 including a calendar, a calculator, and an alarm clock. A voice recorder lets you record voice memos for later retrieval. Lastly, you can use the phone's Bluetooth connectivity to provide wireless Internet and email access to your PC.

Imaging and Entertainment
As mentioned, the LX-350 features a powerful, built-in 1.3 megapixel still and video camera with zoom, white balance, brightness, self-timer, and white balance features. The phone allows you to print pictures without using a PC by connecting directly with a PictBridge supported printer via the included USB cable. Capture video clips up to 15 seconds in length and save them or send them to friends via Sprint PCS video messaging. Again, the phone's built-in video player lets you view video content on your phone.

The phone lets you choose from a variety of pre-set images to customize your display and make it unique to you. With PCS Vision's wireless download service, you can reflect your interests with thousands of pictures of your favorite TV characters, sports teams, celebrities, urban artwork, and more. You can also download games like Tetris and Pac-Man for hours of fun.

Vital Statistics
The LG LX-350 weighs 3.7 ounces and measures 3.62 x 1.85 x .9 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4 hours of digital talk time. It runs on the AMPS 850/CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A Solid Performer.......2007-01-27

This is a great phone for people who want something solid and well-made without all the extras they really don't need. I've used it for 9 months without any problems. The Bluetooth works fine too.

3 out of 5 stars What a tease!.......2007-01-14

I got this phone free with a new contract. Its a tease.. but let me get into the pro's and con's of this phone before I give you my opinion.

Pro's
1.3 mp camera.
Video Enabled
USB port for PC connection and charging of the phone
Speaker Phone
Voice Command Button
PictBridge
32768 kb of memory
Voice memo
Notepad
Scheduler, Calendar, Tip Calculator... etc
Ringtone, Voice Memo and Picture Assignment
Bluetooth enabled

Con's
Voice command button is located at the side of the phone.
Ringtones are boring midi's.
USB cable not included
Software not included
Limited transfers between phone and PC

My thoughts on the pros:
I like the 1.3 mp camera. I even managed to get a few printable pictures out of it. Video is a neat feature but not great quality. It does have a USB connection (purchase data cable separately) which is cool to load your pictures into your computer, and have the phone charge in the process. It's neat to have the picture assignment feature. You can see the picture of the person calling in your sub-display. You can also assign a ring tone to particular contacts. I am not sure if 32768 kb's of memory is a lot for a phone, but I did manage to store 80+ pictures in this phone, before I downloaded them into my computer.
The speakerphone and voice command can come in handy I suppose, but the sound quality and need to repeat yourself for voice recognition is tedious. Of course this phone has other little features like calculators, alarms schedulers etc., if you like or need that sort of thing.

My thoughts on the cons:
The design of the phone stinks. I am constantly hitting the voice command button when I handle the phone and when I place it in my cell phone holder. In addition, push the wrong button and the phone wants to connect to the internet. Its very internet oriented.
The ringtones that come with the phone leave a lot to be desired. If you enjoy midi's of Super Freak, or Imagine, @@ then you may actually enjoy this phone.. lol. You can buy ringtones at sprint, however they are only licensed for 90 days.

The USB cable didn't come with the phone so I purchased it separately online. Got the cable, and then realized, it wouldn't work without the software. So I made another purchase for the software. The seller sent me a CD that would not read in my computer and the answer from cellphoneshop.net was ..... "Download it free from the company at mobileaction.com". HUH? I paid $25.00 for software that doesn't work, and he informs me that I could download it free at the company's website? Grrr.. well that may be better left for another review.

There is limited (if any) transfer capability from your computer to your phone. I can transfer pictures from my cell to my computer but not vice versa. I can load my contacts from my cell to my computer.. but haven't tried the reverse.

In summary.....
If you can get this phone for free, and don't care about the issues I have stated, then by all means choose it. However, I would not go out of my way to purchase this phone. The usb capabilities tease you at first, believing you will have more control over the content in the phone. You don't.

If I was purchasing a phone, i'd invest my money in a phone with a Smart Card, so that I wouldn't have to break the bank just to have a cool ringer, and purchase additional accessories to get pictures out of my phone.

1 out of 5 stars Garbage.......2006-10-13

This phone is junk. No way to erase a voicemail without listening to it, and one I have came in on a number no longer in use. No way to hold the unit without hitting the side buttons and changing settings accidently.
Phone does not keep a log of incoming, outgoing, missed calls, even though
it is supposed too. ( Edit - this was due to improper programming and was corrected by local Sprint store)
The bluetooth is iffy at best.
Overall this phone is almost useless for its intended purpose.
Hope I can get my old Sanyo RL4920 back from my daughter. It worked and worked well. Only took the LG 350 because it was free when I changed my Sprint calling plan contract.
Very disappointed and would not recommend this phone.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT PHONE.......2006-06-19

This is a great phone. Ive never had an LG before this and now Im blown away at the greatness of this phone. One its physically appealing, very easy to use. The only problem I have is not with the phone but with sprint. If you want to send pictures you now have to pay extra a month and the same if you want to use the voice regonition feature. But overall a great buy I highly recommend this phone.

5 out of 5 stars Life is Good.......2006-06-10

I purchased this phone a month ago, and was a little skeptical since I have never tried a LG product. To say the least, I am ecstatic! This a fantastic phone-especially for the price.
My list of qualities: 1)Great style 2)Reception is great 3)operating system(response time) is twice as fast as my previously owned Samsung) 4)Camera features(zoom, flash, effects, resolution, functionability)are above the call of duty. 5)Sound quality is excellent. Adjustment of speakerphone volume is a plus. 6) Durable design with very solid keypad. 7)Beautiful display, with vibrant colors which accents the external LCD.8)Side activated shutter release button is another great asset.
There is more about this phone that I am positive you will find appealing and will result in a smile.
This phone is worth every penny, undoubtedly!
One note: Since this phone is new, I have noticed that games, ringtones, and other applications are limited in variety.Hopefully, a wider array of choices will be available soon.
Plain and simple: You are making a definite wise decision if you purchase this this phone
