Design
The W810i follows a long tradition of beautifully designed and crafted phones from Sony Ericsson. The same candy-bar style that graced the W800 is here, as is the horizontally-oriented camera unit on the back of the phone, allowing you to hold the phone just as you would a camera when you're taking pictures. The W810i's screen sports 176 x 220 pixel resolution with support for 262,000 colors. Quick access buttons below the screen make it easy to control the phone's Walkman music features, while a five-way center button controls most of the phone's menus and features.

The W810i contains 20 MB of embedded memory, but as mentioned, a Memory Stick Duo slot is provided, and it also supports Pro Duo cards, giving you storage capacities of 2 GB and beyond. The phone ships with a 128 MB Memory Stick Duo card. Of course, there's also a port for the phone's included stereo headset. USB and infrared data ports are provided, as well, and the phone supports USB mass storage so you can simply plug the phone into your computer and drag and drop files into the phone's memory using the included Disc2Phone PC application. To top it all off, the W810i's camera flash can double as a flashlight.

Calling Features
The W810i's phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts with multiple entries per contact. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received and dialed calls. The phone's voice activated dialing makes calling your contacts as easy as saying their names, while the built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Polyphonic ringtones are included and you can also use MP3 and AAC music files as ringtones. A cool application called Music DJ even lets you mix your own ringtones. Meanwhile, picture caller ID lets you assign a photo to specific callers. Similarly, a ringer ID lets you assign ringtones to callers. More ringtones are available from AT&Amp;T's MEdia NET mobile web service. For those times you want to keep things discreet, there's a vibrate ringer mode. And because the W810i is Bluetooth-enabled, you can use a variety of headsets and handsfree kits for total wireless freedom when you're on the go.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
If you're looking for a mobile productivity partner, the W810i has you covered. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, and sound via MMS messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging possibilities. The phone also ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols, while the included Access NetFront Web Browser allows you to surf full HTML web sites. An included IM client supports AOL, Yahoo!, ICQ and MSN instant messaging services. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the W810i, as it supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the high speed EDGE data protocol. When used with a AT&Amp;T data plan and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capabilities the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the W810i, including a voice memo recorder, a to-do list, a calculator, a calendar and an alarm clock. The phone also supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, which lets you synchronize your PC-based calendar, contacts, notes and tasks with your W810i.

Imaging and Entertainment
The W810i is a Walkman phone, and that means it offers a great mobile music experience. Load up your favorite songs in MP3 or AAC format on a memory card and listen to your heart's content. The user-friendly music player application also includes a "Music Mode" that shuts down the phone functions so you can listen on an airplane or anytime you don't want to accept calls. Meanwhile, Digital Mega Bass and stereo widening combine to enhance your listening experience. There's even an FM radio for catching the big game or your favorite stations. Good Phone.......2007-12-29

Well I've had this phone over a year. It's been good to me. Everything still works great. One thing did give me trouble, the internet button would constantly be pressed while in my pocket and would cause connection charges. I finally realized if I want to use the internet, be like a normal person and use a computer. So I changed my settings to be incorrect and I get a connection error every time the button is pressed. Better than the extra $5 or $10 charge a month. The actual phone speaker is a little quieter than usual.. just one more volume click would be nice. Speaker phone volume is great. The MP3 player is great on this phone. The speakers are very good for a phone and they get louder than any phone I've heard. To tell the truth I just don't use the Walkman feature of this phone like I thought I would, but it's always there if I change my mind. The camera is always nice. Sometimes the button needs to be finessed to actually take a picture. It is not easy for fast shots but if you got a minute to take a pic it works good. The flashlight feature could replace a cars headlight if needed. All-in-all happy with my phone.

Wonderful Phone, the only problem is volume.......2007-10-08

I think the reviews here do a pretty good job of explaining the pluses and minuses of the phone. I have owned Motorola phones for the last few years and when my plan with Cingular/ATT was up, I decided to go for a new style. I saw pretty good ratings for the w810i and ordered it through Amazon.

I'm very happy with the phone in general. I haven't had problems with dropped calls or reception (except in elevators and basements, which is to be expected). The music player is absolutely great for the times I go for a run -- the headphones they include with the phone are pretty nice.

I have two problems with the phone that force me to assign a 4-star rating rather than a 5-star rating:
1) The speaker volume on the phone is too low. Even if I max it out, it's hard for me to hear the other person if I'm in a moderately loud to extremely loud environment (think subway, driving car with window open, etc). The Motorola phones I have used have a much higher volume capacity and I was even able to use them at a rock concert, that is pretty much impossible with this phone. The volume on the walkman goes pretty high, why couldn't they make the speaker volume during phone calls as high?
2) This one isn't a complaint as much as it is a "I wish they had added this feature..." commentary. The camera quality is very nice compared to most other phones on the market. I just wish there was an actual flash on the phone for the times when the lighting isn't so great. It is a bright white light that works decently, but a true flash would have superb.

What else do you need?.......2007-09-30

Honestly, this phone has everything (except stereo bluetooth, it would get 5 stars then). I've had it for a few months now and I have no real complaints.

I'm a Mac user and there is third party software to integrate just about everything with my MacBook. Sync numbers, Text, and Dial numbers through Address Book. You can sync playlists and podcasts through iTunes (it supports up to a 4 gb memory stick, it's like having a nano!). Sync your (pretty decent) photos with iPhoto, the list goes on.

Some advice, the usb cord that is supplied is 1.1 and VERY slow, if you get a USB 2.0 Memory stick reader, you'll be much happier if you plan on getting a large capacity stick (may I suggestUSB 2.0 High Speed Memory Stick PRO Duo Card Reader, it's cheap and works just fine).

I've used the phone as a wireless modem and if you have a good signal it's fast enough to do basic things, and has really helped out me in a pinch!

There are a ton of free themes, I think the sony ones are kinda lame. Making it easier to change the walkman skin would be cool, but it's alright as is.

Cingular locks out using using your own music as ringtones, but there is a way around this. All you have to do is make a music file that is smaller than 600 kb, which is about 23-30 seconds of a 128 kbps encoded song, which should be plenty long enough for a ringtone. I use apple's quicktime to cut songs down to under 600 kb. Then you can make any song, or portion of song into your ringtone.

This is the first cell phone I've gotten that wasn't provided to me through my job, it's become such a part of my daily life I can't imagine being with out it!

Great Phone!.......2007-09-28

This is a great phone (and service from AT&T). I upgraded from a 5 year old SE T610 with T-Mobie, and the difference is amazing. For one thing, I was never able to use my phone at home, or in most places for that matter. It's really great to finally have a phone that allows me to send and receive calls. The Walkman features (MP3 player and Radio) are great too- I've actually been using them a lot, as I often forget to bring any of my mp3 players with me when I dash out of the house. The camera takes decent pictures and the fact that the camera has swappable memory sticks is a great bonus. I'm sure this phone will last me at least 5 years like my last one (still going strong), which I'd still be using if T-Mobie worked in my neighborhood.

A lot of features in a little bity space.......2007-09-26

I've had 4 phones the last 2 months, and this is the phone I am keeping... for now... I have had an Apple iPhone, Nokia E62, Blackberry Curve, and weird thing this is the phone of my choice.

I previously had a Nokia 6230 and I prefer the candybar style of a phone. I love the fact that this is tiny, compact, and has all the features of all these other phones. This is a quadband phone, it has a 2MP camera, plays music, takes pictures, with flash, takes videos as well, has FM radio, can be used as a modem, you can go online... so yeah.

The only thing I don't like about this phone is there isn't any smart text messaging features like the Nokia brand phones.

Other than that, its compact, filled with features and I love this phone... for now.

Does not load.......2007-09-16

I have tried to use this software on my VISTA system for Samsung SYNC SGH-A707 system and the driver does not load on my computer for the cable. I can use the real Samsung cable for VISTA along with the latest version of Samsung Sync software (software available for free from the Samsung website) to use VISTA with the phone with more capabilities then are actually listed for the phone from the Mobile Action website.

If I could rate this a ZERO I would.

HOW SOFTWARE WORKS ON THIS KIT.......2007-08-26

For all software dealing with cell phones, one needs to keep updated. This item is sold as is, and the customer must rely on www.mobileaction.com first for support and the features that WORK on their phone for the kit model number MA-730. Not all phones work with the software for everything, some do, some work for only one thing using the model kit from Mobile Action called "MA-730." Kit sold here is the MA0730 by Mobile Action, customers must go to their site and see support for the phone they have first. The MA-730 Bluetooth kit is the most univeral one around, but the cell phones themselves have limitations, not the kit. Mobile Action tells customers specifically what does and does not work for all models with this MA-730 kit.
