Design
The a707 design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with its impressive media and data capabilities while maintaining a stylish and cool exterior. A large 176 x 220 full-color display with over 262,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary external display that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The external screen can even be set to display a large analog clock. A TransFlash/MicroSD memory card slot is located on the right side of the phone while a 2.0-megapixel camera lens is housed above the external display. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. Lastly, charging and USB data cable ports are placed on the bottom of the phone, keeping the phone's design compact and portable.

Calling Features
The a707's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones, and comes stock with unique ringtones built right into the unit, while more ringtones can be downloaded from Cingular Wireless' MEdia Net service. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert, and a built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear.

Because the a707 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The a707 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. With UMTS and HSDPA support built right into the phone, you'll be streaming and downloading at speeds so fast your head will spin. When used in combination with one of Cingular's MEdia Max plans that supports Cingular Video and MobiTV (additional Cingular charges apply), the a707 will allow you to play high-quality news clips, sports clips, weather clips, and more--right on your phone. And with Cingular's exclusive partnership with HBO Mobile and HBO Family Mobile, you'll never be at a loss for something good to watch.

Into sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, and sound and video via messages? When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video cameras, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported via AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and ICQ (Cingular messaging charges apply). There's also a built-in Web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. Getting on the Internet with your laptop or PDA is easy with the a707. When used with a Cingular data plan and the phone's Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the a707 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. Use the phone's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth accessory or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data.

Imaging and Entertainment
With features like 29 MB of built-in memory, and a preloaded mp3 player, the a707 shines in the entertainment department. When the feeling strikes you, jam out to your favorite music on the unit's advanced mp3 player, and because the a707 sports a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot, you can load up all your favorite music and bring it with you (memory cards sold separately). Do Not Purchase.......2007-12-29

OK, so here's the deal. Yeah it's fast downloading on the 3g network, and the screen has a nice display. The picture phone is cool and once you figure out the menues and how to access all of the features, it's a handy, sleak phone with a OK battery life. However, scrolling through the menus has a delay from when you push the button, to when the scrolling actually takes place. Very annoying. For instance, I want to turn the ringer volume down from 7 to zero. I push the ringer down button 7 times. After about the 5th click, I then see the ringer volume meter start to decend. Same with the phone book. Dont get me started on Text Messaging. I'll be 4 letters in before it will try and catch up on the display. Everytime I use the phone, delay, delay, delay. Then, sometimes (confirmed by several other users), the phone reception signal bars turn gray and the phone says "for emergency calls only." You have to power off and reboot for it to work. The phone itself is cheap. The LCD screen on the front cracked by a MINIMAL tap on it. Also, I have never removed the casing to access the battery and one day it just fell off and wouldn't stay on. Let me tell you I have been so careful with this phone and it has never been dropped or mishandeled. The volume is also not that loud, but the speak

Samsung Ignores Warranty - won't replace lost Battery Cover.......2007-11-08

After 5 months, the battery cover fell off and was lost. No idea where or how.

Samsung won't replace the part, despite their 1 yr warranty for "defects in materials and workmanship."

They simply do not have the part in inventory - and the battery slips out easily, without the cover.

The web shows that Samsung has a similar attitude for other products - stereo, tv, etc. They ignore their warranty, and stonewall the consumer.

Makes a good first impression, but..........2007-10-29

I've had this phone for about five months now, and thus far:

Pros:
-Awesome display, bright, high-res
-Fast (for a phone) internet connection
-Compared to most other phones, this has a great camera
-Nice, sturdy buttons
-Personally, I get a huge kick out of the MP3 player touch buttons on the front

Cons:
-Relatively slim, but still pretty heavy and bulky
-Ring volume is fine if you're alone in your room, but ambient noise tends to drown it out pretty quickly
-BIGGEST CON and the main reason I'm getting a new phone: The battery life started out okay (maybe three days on a charge), but in the past month has completely DIED. If the phone isn't charged every single night, it won't last (I give it 36 hours, maximum, for a single charge). My dad has the exact same phone, and the same thing happened to his.

Good basic phone.......2007-09-23

Overall, I'm happy that I bought this phone. The reception is good in most places, and it uses 3G technology. (I'm not sure if that helps with voice quality, or only faster data - but this phone has it).

I've never been on the cutting edge of technology when it comes to cell phones. This doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of the Iphone or any of the "smartphones" out there. I just wanted to make phone calls. I've been pretty happy with this phone. This is my first phone with bluetooth, and I use it all the time in the car. In my state, it's illegal to hold a cell phone while driving, so it's great to have the wireless bluetooth earpiece on my ear to receive calls in the car. The camera is okay - nothing special. I don't use the mp3 player. I haven't figured out how to connect the phone to the computer to put music on my phone, and frankly I'm not willing to put in the time to figure it out.

Bottom line: If you want a cheap ($0.01 with $25 rebate when I bought it) phone just to use as a phone (+bluetooth), it's great.

The Samsung A707 SYNC Blue Phone is the right phone for all ages! What I really love about it is its awesome camera, beautiful resolution, loud sound quality, and many convenient buttons that serve as shortcuts. However, it does get scratched easily so I suggest having a case to protect your phone.

All in all, the Samsung is a phone made to please!

Does not load.......2007-09-16

I have tried to use this software on my VISTA system for Samsung SYNC SGH-A707 system and the driver does not load on my computer for the cable. I can use the real Samsung cable for VISTA along with the latest version of Samsung Sync software (software available for free from the Samsung website) to use VISTA with the phone with more capabilities then are actually listed for the phone from the Mobile Action website.

If I could rate this a ZERO I would.

HOW SOFTWARE WORKS ON THIS KIT.......2007-08-26

For all software dealing with cell phones, one needs to keep updated. This item is sold as is, and the customer must rely on www.mobileaction.com first for support and the features that WORK on their phone for the kit model number MA-730. Not all phones work with the software for everything, some do, some work for only one thing using the model kit from Mobile Action called "MA-730." Kit sold here is the MA0730 by Mobile Action, customers must go to their site and see support for the phone they have first. The MA-730 Bluetooth kit is the most univeral one around, but the cell phones themselves have limitations, not the kit. Mobile Action tells customers specifically what does and does not work for all models with this MA-730 kit.

Junk Software.......2007-08-21

Software could not find the appropriate driver and failed to include the correct driver as part of the package. Software would NOT LOAD after repeated attempts. DO NOT purchase.
