Design
The RAZR V3m's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, fully-anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 65,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display caller ID pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The 1.3-megapixel camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control.
Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone. The RAZR V3m also features 30 MB of embedded memory for storing pictures, videos, and downloaded PCS Vision content. You can also expand your storage space with the phone's microSD/TransFlash memory card slot. Note that the phone does not have a 2.5mm headset jack, but a compatible stereo headset is included in the box.
Calling Features
The RAZR V3m's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's caller ID system allows you to assign pictures and specific ringtones to your most common callers. Can't hold a charge and freezes.......2007-12-18
This is my second red razr. I had to get a replacement after 4 days because the battery lasted about 2 hours if that. So, after 3 weeks of Sprint screwing around, I got my new phone.
The battery life is better, but not by much. I've now had this phone for 6 months and the battery lasts about 5-6 hours when I don't use it at all. It has about 40 minutes talk time and then dies. I live in an area that is not rural, is the biggest city where I live, and most of the time my phone doesn't roam, but maybe 2-3 times a week, it roams in my bedroom or in my living room. No specific area, just picks and chooses when it feels like roaming.
My husband and I both bought this phone at the same time. He has the same problems. We have gone through 2 chargers EACH and are now sharing one. And it's starting to have problems. Half the time it flashes charger connected, charger disconnected.
It lags on commands. Horribly! Something as simple as going through my contacts. There is about a 30 second delay in going from o to p. It just freezes there. And on certain people, I don't know why, it freezes when I hang up and I either have to wait 5 -7 minutes to use the phone again or turn it off and on.
My husband's phone is now shutting off for no reason, but if he whacks it on the palm of his hand, it'll turn back on. Had I known when I renewed my contract with Sprint that these phones sucked this badly, I wouldn't have even thought to buy one.
I did give it 2 stars because whether the inside sucks or not, it is pretty. :o) And the size is perfect for me. I am on the go all day with 3 kids and I have enough shoved in my purse or diaper bag that my phone slides to the bottom. I can slip it in my front pocket with no problem. It doesn't bother me at all.
So, when it's time to get new phones, I will be staying away from this one, I'll just be looking for a slim phone that works.

Ive had the phone for about 7 months and after about 5 months the LCD screen on the front quit working so I have to flip open the phone to see who is texting or calling, which can be a pain. I called Motorola and they said it would take 7-14 business days to fix and to make sure I kept track of all my phone numbers because once i got it back it would be completely empty! All the ringers and pics and numbers will be erased! Who can go 2 weeks without a phone... as they will not give you a loaner phone, nor will Sprint. The phone will freeze up at any given moment, the volume button on the side doesnt always work properly. Overall, not a good phone, there are lots of others that got good reviews and are comparable in price. This phone costs WAY too much for what its actually worth!

This phone is great, very sexy and sleek, buttons have a very short lag when you press them, but I've already learned the rhythm of how to press them. I need a new battery after about 6 months, but that happens with any phone, these batteries aren't designed for life. I love how it fits in my pocket and doesn't bulge out. Overall a perfectly great phone.

This was the biggest waste of money ever which sucks because i really like the look and feel of this phone. However, when it comes to battery life and ability to hold a signal, it sucks. After using it a month, the battery was shot and getting reception inside anywhere was a crap shoot.
Do not be swayed by the appearance of this phone. It is a wolf in sheeps clothing folks. Beware....beware.
Good Phone - Bad Battery.......2007-10-02
I loved this phone. It worked well with excellent reception for about 9 months. Suddenly, it would not hold charge for more than 12 hours even when on standby. I opened the back and noticed it had a BR53 battery. The Motorola web site recommends a BR50 battery. I bought a replacement on Amazon (about $7 including shipping) and now the phone again works great. I wonder if Sprint had Motorola install a a cheaper battery that doesn't work as long for the Sprint phones as a cost saving measure?

Accidently, detroyed my previous cell. So I ran to Sprint to replace it and the V3 caught my eye. I had a $200 coupon, so I went with the V3. A major f!!king mistake. The battery is deficient enough to be called 3rd world. The technologhy is juvenile and suffering; sought of like Sprint...! APPLE, here I come...

I too bought this phone ( sprint) when old contract other crappy company ( very bad: TMOBILE---do not USE them!) ended so i went to sprint since my family was w/them. Oh boy the RAZR 3m hot item so I get it nice slim looking phone...only 6 months later the battery starts doing what all other reviewers have had dying even after fully juicing it up, sprint is NO help and says keep on truckin' over to motorola, ( i too didn't buy insurance b/c other cells had lasted long long time so expected no trouble) motorola on the other hand says, gee too bad... but we can send a new battery since...get this... we KNOW ( and had known) that the battery manufactured with this phone is DEFECTIVE!! I said, why didn't anyone tell us (owners) ??? they had NO answer for that. Sent me a new battery "extended life" what did that mean? a big fat battery with new back for phone to accomodate this huge sucker... I call them and screetch WAIT! i got the phone for its slim fit in purse and pocket, gee too bad says motorola take the battery or NOT .. no replacement phone is coming, but we will TRY to fix it if you send it for two weeks (yep no phone in meanwhile) I throw fit and finally get them to send me a slim ( albeit same defective brand battery) and tell them I will use it till it does what first one did, then will be stuck with big fat extended one so none of my phone covers will then fit phone and phone will NOT be slim ( it looks pregnant! with big fat battery) soooo, i too recommend you avoid this phone ...in fact avoid MOTOROLA their customer service is NIL and they suck. You will do better with any other brand since you might get service. I used to think MOtorola was great, I KNOW better now....
Ultimately Dissapointed.......2007-11-03
The initial attraction of this phone to me was the ability of playing my tunes and receiving calls during GYM work-outs. Voice activation/recognition calling was cool too. During my initial 30-day trial period with the phone, I was basically satisfied as I was blissfully unaware of Bluetooth and of my ability to go wireless.
Not being a "tech-type" or having much experience, my needs were met via the provided corded stereo mic/speakers. The first couple of weeks illustrated good battery life and no problems other then my accidentally activating the camera/video feature; a frequent mistake that I still make causing me to totally drain the battery several times a week.
I use the phone primarily for working-out and making personal calls while at the office. In my location, reception within my office can be hit or miss so the phone frequently goes to voice mail.
What I'm most disappointed with, is that this phone doesn't support any Motorola Bluetooth stereo headphones with the only exception being a bulky, un-gym-friendly set which realistically, should be used only to mow the lawn or go quail hunting!
My Sprint CSR's were very eager to sell me the Bluetooth MOTOROKRs9 stereo headphones for a whopping $129.99 all while demonstrating that they had no clue as to knowledge of their product. The phone WILL link and make/receive calls thru the headset but WILL NOT play your stored MP3's. Instead the music will come directly from the cells internal phone speaker.

Well like most of you I was excited to see sprint finally got the razr. So like a fool with my contract coming to an end I choose to get it. When I first started moving my contacts from my old phone to the new gray v3m I noticed how slow it would move from screen to screen was kind of annoying but I could live with it. I have owned this phone since 01/2007. I should have just taken the phone back when I had the chance. Since then my up arrow navigation key completely stopped working. The center round button fell off and had to be reattached. The micro memory card slot sucks and keeps saying there isn't one in there so I have to take the battery off and reseat it anytime I want to listen to music. I have sent this phone in twice to Motorola who has the worst customer service I have ever seen. They fixed the up key the second time I sent it in. But they scratched up the screen. Texting is very slow, and if you have 300+ text messages in your inbox it slows the phone way down. If you text and have an incoming call the phone will freeze sometimes. And if you open the phone are you are getting a text it will not show it until you hit end close the phone open it back up again then go to messages and look.. WHAT A Piece of junk, as I write this I am looking at the Samsung Upstage because I have gotten to use this phone less then 6 months and I am tired of it never working. I am not the only one with problems with the v3m my friends outer screen doesn't work at all and she's only had hers for 2 months... so all I have to say warning.. your better off flushing you 250.00 down the toilet it would be more entertaining.

i got my razr because my other phone broke, for free. at first i was happy because it wasn't some stupid-looking free phones without a camera and stuff.
on my other phone, i used speed dial. but the razr doensn't allow it. and they have the stupid voice recognition.. but like that really works.
BATTERY LIFE IS LITERALLY NON-EXISTANT.
my other bulky scratched up phone would last 3 days if i didn't make any calls and only several times of opening up the flip phone.if i talked on it, it would last about a day or more still.
the razr doesn't even last a few hours of talking. i made a 30-minute call to a friend and i was charging it for a whole day without any use, it was down to only one bar (out of three.)
razrs are a pain trying to text. i have long nails (most of the times) and sometimes my fingers slips and i type something else. even if i have short nails, it wouldn't be any better.
the large screen gets dirty easily too. its annoying cause my other phone wasn't this bad.
i had to get the same phone twice cause the other razr didn't let me go on the internet when i got vision. the people gave me free money for 2 months of vision, but i dont know.. i went to two different stores trying to find whats wrong, so i dont know if its on my new (stupid) razr.
i've never loved or liked the phone.
i want my other bulky phone back.

Cheap but nice extention of battery life........2007-03-24
The battery is great and does extend the charge life of the phone admirably if you can put up with the extra bulk (though probably not as much as you'd expect). Please note that the new battery door is plastic and not aluminum like the rest of the phone. So it looks a little cheap. This wasn't a problem for me since I put my phone in a case anyway which covers the door.
