Does what it's suppose to.......2007-06-25
Allows you to level your camera. I like the convenience of having it on the flash shoe, so it doesn't get in the way when you're not using it, but it's there when you need it. Fits snug into my Canon 30D.
Only 4 stars (not 5) because paying this much for a piece of plastic kinda sucks, but I couldn't find one cheaper, so I had to bit the bullet, but I'm glad I did, so if you're looking for one, this works nicely.

Nice to Have When You Need It.......2006-04-30
This is great for awkward shooting positions where you have a hard time eyeing things up through the viewfinder. Also, when doing panoramic series this is nice to help make sure that your photos will actually stitch together when all is said and done. Even for normal shooting whenever you have to bend over most people tend to lean slightly, thus skewing their view, so this little gadget helps you make sure that you are really shooting level.

Expensive Plastic.......2007-03-31
The first hotshoe bubble level I purchased survived a whole year and a half before it fell off my camera somewhere in northern Iceland (I did spend several hours back tracking but I was unable to find this bright green $30 piece of plastic in the snow). As far as tools go, this is one of the most frequently used item in my camera bag. I use it for the vast majority of my shots to ensure I have a level horizon (which makes stitching panoramic shots much easier). The only drawbacks are that the plastic may eventually wear away enough that it no longer fits in the hotshoe leaving it rather prone to slipping out without much force and the price: it's a $30 piece of plastic with an air bubble! In all fairness, it does hold up to abrasion rather well.

this is a bit pricy for what it is, but useful for handheld shots and if your triprod doesn't have balance indicator a good thing to use. nice and compact and seems decent quality..

Cobra LI7000-2 WX VP.......2007-12-19
I have owned several of the "high power" radios from Cobra, Motorola, and Midland. Range has become a big problem in these discussions. Be advised that manufacturers' claims for distance are irrelevant and their claims for "5 watts" output are misleading. According to the FCC, the actual rated power output on these units at the antenna is about 1.25 watts. That's actually pretty good for consumer GMRS radios. These radios get high marks for their compact size. However, the lithium batteries heat-up noticeably under heavy transmission. For occasional use (which would be more typical), they should be fine. I have avoided the DCS privacy codes, so delayed transmission has not been a problem. They seem to work fine with just CTCSS codes. The DCS problem could be a design flaw. Sound quality is surprisingly good given the tiny speakers.
Plan on 4 miles range at the outside on flat terrain. Less if there are hills, trees and/or buildings. Maybe 1/2 mile car to car. I can't comment on the durability of the lithium batteries. So far they are working OK.

I purchased my first Cobra FRS 3 mile radios around 9 years ago and still work perfectly. The LI 7000 radios are a huge evolution in range, features and specialy battery capacity (1500 mAh) which is the best I've seen for this radio type.
In regard to the range you can select the power setting acording your needs and be aware that channels 8-14 work only on LOW power setting because they are FRS; for channels 1-7 (FRS/GMRS) and 15-22 (GMRS) you can select HI, MED or LOW. I use them successfully from my office to a 4 mile range into the city with the Hi power setting and channels 1 through 7.

The range is not all that. The 2-3 second delay is terrible. And how do I put it on a maximum range? I have tried what the manual says and doesn't work.
Very Good for non-professional radios.......2007-05-31
Being an Amateur Radio Operator I am very tough to please with radios like this. I am used to radios made for emergency communication that are the same quality as police and fire radios. In addition I have walkie talkies that go through repeaters that can communicate for hundreds of miles. HF radios communicate around the world.
I purchased these for a cruise. The UHF frequencies go through metal better than lower VHF. Having the extra power helps to. Even though they will have a reduced range on things like a ship, they really do pretty well. Having the security codes prevent interference from other people who may be using the same frequency. Overall worth the money.
This radio also has a 1350mah battery that lasts much longer than so many other cheap walkie talkies. This is probably the best one made.
25 mi range? on what planet...?.......2007-05-14
I bought these with the knowledge that manufacturers inflate their claims of quality regardless of the product. So, I'm thinking, if they claim a 25 mile range, certainly that's under optimal conditions. With this in mind, I was sure these would work for me at a range of at least 15% of their claim. That's about 3 3/4 miles. Surely if they claim a range of 25, I can get 3 3/4, right? WRONG!I live in a small town with small short buildings, no sky scrapers etc. Very few obstructions in fact. My line-of-sight range is less than 3 city blocks. Save your money folks. Buy flowers for your girlfriend gentlemen, or, ladies spend the money on a manicure. Just don't waste it on these 2 way radios.
