A 5.8 GHz analog cordless phone from Uniden, the EXAI 5180 comes with a number of useful features, including caller ID with call waiting compatibility and an integrated digital answering system. By utilizing the less cluttered 5.8 GHz frequency, the EXAI 5180 is able to offer clearer, more intelligible reception than traditional phones operating on more crowded 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz bands. An auto-scan features automatically detects the best channel available.
Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the EXAI 5180 can store up to 30 numbers in the caller ID memory, while the display-and-dial feature lets you easily scroll through the list of calls and dial with the touch of a button. Up to 10 memory locations are available for the most frequently dialed numbers, and a RocketDial feature allows you to dial the most important number simply by pressing the RocketDial button. Each memory location supports up to 20 digits for numbers which require chain dialing.
The digital answering system provides up to 13 minutes of recording time and has a maximum message length of either one or four minutes, depending upon the setting you choose. A memo record feature is provided, while the conversation record feature lets you record important conversations. The answering system can be operated remotely, allowing you to keep track of messages even while you are away from home.
Handset and ringer volume controls allow you to easily adjust the phone's settings to your liking. A page button on the base makes finding a lost handset quick and painless, while the menu-driven handset LCD makes operation easy. The auto-talk function lets you answer calls simply by removing the phone from its cradle. A 32-digit redial button lets you easily call the last outgoing number, while both tone and pulse dialing modes are provided. Wall-mountable, the EXAI 5180 is headset compatible and comes with a belt clip for hands-free operation. It also comes backed with a one-year warranty on both parts and labor.

this phone seriously stinks. the ONLY redeeming factors are its ease of setup. the voice quality is horrible, and the range is the worst of any phone i've ever used. you may as well just buy a wired handset with a 100 foot cord.
Uniden 5180 5.8 -Don't buy it........2005-09-05
This Uniden 5.8 GHz phone is even worse than my 10-year old 900Mhz phone. I returned it the next day after trying a couple of phone calls. The reception is absolutely lousy, even if standing just outside the back door about 20-25 feet away from the base. Uniden should toss this model out along with its engineers who developed this phone.

I buy 3 all they have very bad recepcion even being near the Handsets,, a lot of static, the functions are a mess

This phone has some nice features and is easy to operate. But this phone's range is poor. We can hear static when using the receiver at the opposite end of our house, and when I carry it outside, I can go no farther than about 150 feet before it loses its signal and cuts off. Like most people, we have had numerous cordless phones over the years, of several major brands. Although this one is easy to understand and operate, it has the shortest range of any of them. We will keep it, as it works "OK" indoors, but will be in the market for a better phone.

So far this is the best phone I have ever owned. I got this same phone in the two headset version. <br />
There are several things I like about this phone:<br />
- Ring tone is pleasant and can be made quiet or off entirely.<br />
- answering machine voice is easy to understand and not very machine sounding<br />
- you can dial the number and hit talk like on cell phones<br />
- The audio thus far has been crystal clear, i haven't heard a single snap or pop yet.<br />
- programming is very straight forward and simple, didn't have to read the manual to figure out most of the setup<br />
- batteries work well as so far I haven't had either phone go dead yet. But its brand new so the batteries should do well right now.<br />

Overall the phone is great. Others who have issues likely got a phone with problems. If you get one without issue, you will not be upset with your purchase.<br />
