The SD-KP19 includes an integrated DVD player compatible with several disc formats: DVD Video, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD and DVD-R. It has a digital picture zoom which allows you to select and magnify an area of either freeze-frame or motion video. This set is also DivX Home Theater Certified, which means it display popular Internet video formats, such as DivX, AVI, and MPEG4. You can move your JPEG photos onto a CD-R or CD-RW disc and the SD-KP19 will provide you access to a slide show of your images with a few clicks . Also, the built-in card slot accepts files stored on Secure Digital, Sony Memory Stick, MultimediaCard, and xD memory cards, so you'll be able to take the card out of your camera and plug it right into the player. The set has a complement of A/V in and out ports, allowing you to use it as either a source for another TV or a monitor for another video source, such as a game system. It boasts an 480X234 pixel resolution, and a 14-bit, 108MHz digital-to-analog video signal converter. The screen is set up in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. Audio The SD-KP19 features virtual surround sound stereo speakers and two headphones ports for private listening. For home theater audio hookups, the unit provides coaxial Dolby Digital and dts surround sound output. The SD-KP19 also plays MP3 and WMA files recorded either to compatible disc media or stored on a memory card.

Nice, neat, compact little thing........2007-10-14
I was afraid this DVD player would be too small, but is it a nice size for 1 person to watch. Without the case, it fits easily into a bookbag or carrybag because it is not bulky or heavy. However, the case that comes with the player is thick--3 3/4 inches wide--which does make it bulky if you carry the DVD player in the case. The DVD player scratches very easily, too easily, even if you carry it in the case. I used the case and still got scratches in two places on the player. It was a big disappointment, and I've only had the player for a few days. One thing that is true about this player is that it is loud when you turn up the volume, so you can listen to it without headphones. The picture is OK. The battery takes as long to recharge as the length of time you spend watching it, so charge it when you go to bed because it'll take time to charge the battery to its full potential. I wanted to mention one thing that is strange, and I don't know whether the other portable DVD players do the same thing, but this DVD player takes time for your mind to get adjusted to. What I mean is that watching the 7-inch screen gave me a headache (right away) each time I tried to watch it, whether it was in the house or in the car. My mind had to get adjusted to the screen dimensions before I could concentrate on the video. The headaches continued to occur each time I used the player. A regular computer monitor does not do this to my senses and a regular television screen does not do this even when I watched the same movie. So I don't know what it is about this player. Cosmetically, this product is a nice, neat, little thing.

I have been using this unit extensively for 6 months. I travel about 150k miles a year and used to watch TV and movie DVDs on my laptop but needed external seat power to be able to do this. Also, I found it impossible to use the laptop in coach due to the tight space so had to resign myself to what was being shown. A portable player gives you choices. Laptops are not designed for long play of DVDs which consume a lot of laptop resources. I bought this unit for my wife originally, but it now never leaves my laptop bag! I take it on every business trip and also carry a fresh collection of DVDs in a small case.
I tried out the xD slot on the front of the unit to look at some photos I took on a Fuji digital camera but the resolution is too poor to make this an enoyable experience. I think, only people without a computer of any description would use this feature.
I love this unit - it is compact, durable and the sound is clear and dynamic. My minor complaints are that the screen display is somewhat small, a little dark and resolution not terribly crisp and there is no indication of battery power. The unit flashes a battery warning and then dies very quickly. On my last business trip, it accidently fell off my seat table, DVD tray lid opened and my DVD went flying through the air. The unit was absolutely fine much to my amazement! I carried on watching the DVD in a few moments after a fellow passenger helped me to retrieve it. In terms of battery life, I can watch around 4-5 hours straight on a full-charge. Easily 8 episodes of a show like 24 which is plenty for any 6-7 hour flight. Recently on a 10 hour flight to San Francisco, I was wanting for more battery power but for most of my trips, this unit is great.
Finally, this player is a good blend of size and battery power and since I only paid $150 for it, fantastic value. I therefore wholeheartedly recommend this unit but strongly recommend buying replacement earphones like the Bose QuietComforts to make the most of the dynamic sound of this unit.

The Garmin V has all the bells and whistles of the higher end 276C and 376C at a fraction of the cost. The processor is not quite as quick as the higher end units but works great for navigating to an address or locaton. For under $200 I love this unit.
Great first GPS.......2006-04-22
This GPS, in my evaluation, had the best balance between functionality, portability and size. I used to drive more than 2000 miles, in 3 different states on my vacations and it was terrific. Even it is not in color (comparing with other models) this is very convenient to use while you're driving or if you are walking. The only issue (problem) was the connection with my laptop, this GPS comes with a serial port connection (there is no USB connection), I had to buy an adaptor (serial to USB connector) to be able to load the maps (add 30$ to your budget). This is one of the best devices in this category, great to a beginner.
Garmin GPS V, nice rig, but...........2006-03-07
Rig was purchased primarily for geocaching, but secondarily for traveling in USA and Europe. Loads great from my desktop, but the package really needs a USB cable termination so you can use it on a laptop. This would allow on the road downloads, since unit only has 19 MB of memory. Incredible accuracy, which is a must in geocaching. Also, if you miss a turn, (difficult, but I did it), the V immediately recomputed a U turn, using side streets. If this had come with a USB cable, I would have rated it a 5.

GPS V perfect for my needs.......2006-02-25
The most important features to you should guide your decision in the complex hand held GPS market. Sometimes new technology replaces features that I personally find essential and kick myself when the product is discontinued. My needs for a GPS was portability between two vehicles and sport boats as well as portability off the trail. Being able to replace batteries is critical rather than being out of luck with no charger available. That ruled out the Quest series for me. Color is nice, but consumes power. Waterproof is critical. Design with ergonomics of the GPS V is great in that the screen can be oriented portrait or landscape. Mounting in the vehicle or boat is perfect for my needs and on hikes the belt holder is nice. Living in the Northeast I was able to load detailed maps of the areas I travel 90% of the time and have plenty of additional space for planning road trips. Despite the fact that there are many nice features on the new units, for my personal purposes, there was no other unit than the GPS V that combined the features I desired.
