This is a great choice for users who might not have alot of music or videos to store on their ipod. Its only 4GB which is like probably 1,000 songs or a little bit more and over 100 hrs of video. I mean, its good, but I own the ipod Touch and i love that, i just got this for my girlfriend and she doesn't listen to no damn 16GB worth of music so i got her this. Im not cheap, but it doesn make sense though. Why get a 16GB ipod, especially a touch and don't really use it to the fullest.But she loves is and i figure you would too if you don't need higher storage (GB).

Design
With a total weight of 5.1 ounces and slim measurements of 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches (WxHxD), the nüvi 350 is just right for the pocket or purse. A bright, 64,000-color display dominates the front of the device and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels means that there's plenty of room for displaying map data and other elements of the device's interface. An SD memory card slot is provided for expansion software, such as a points of interest database, media files and electronic guides (see below). The flip-up antenna includes an MCX-type connector for connecting the unit to an external GPS antenna. Meanwhile, a powerful built-in speaker resides on the back of device. A built-in lithium ion battery will give you for to eight hours of battery life, depending on use. In addition to an AC charger, the unit also ships with a 12-volt power adapter for vehicle charging, as well as a windshield suction cup mount.

Fortunately, Garmin has made it easy to interface with the nüvi 350's 700 megabytes of onboard memory, thanks to "plug-and-play" USB mass storage support. Just plug the device into your computer's USB port and you've got instantaneous access to all the audio books, music, photos, supplemental maps and other data on the nüvi 350's internal and SD card memory.

Navigation
The nüvi 350 is first and foremost a personal GPS device. Wherever you go -- in your car or on foot-- the device offers extremely accurate position data, thanks to a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver by SiRF and WAAS-enabled, 12-satellite reception. Combined with detailed maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico the nüvi 350 provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and touchscreen control-- making it easy to find your way anywhere. Plus, the unique "text-to-speech" feature calls out turns by street name, and you can choose from either 2D or 3D mapping perspectives when you're viewing your route on the display. Additionally, the nüvi 350 is compatible with Garmin's GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver*, which allows users to avoid traffic tie-ups by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route.

As mentioned, the nüvi 350 comes packed with mapping data for North America, but you can can also load up your custom points of interest. Set up proximity alerts for school zones, safety cameras, and more using Garmin's free POI (points of interest) loader program (available from garmin.com).

The device automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way.

Tools for the Journey
Navigation is just part of the journey, and the nüvi 350 is one of the first devices to recognize that. The built-in "Travel Kit" offers an MP3 player, an audio book player from Audible.com, a jpeg-format picture viewer, a world travel clock with time zones, a currency converter, a measurement converter, and a calculator.

In addition to the included travel tools, additional software add-ons are available, such as the Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press. This software suite contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. Now you can look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language -- right in the palm of your hand. Through the unit's text-to-speech interface, users can get a spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank, along with gender and part of speech information.

Another useful add-on software package, the Garmin Travel Guide, is loaded with information provided by Marco Polo. These guides put in-depth travel information such as reviews and recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and more at your fingertips. The software allows you to navigate to an address or search points of interest-- places like hotels, restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions. The nüvi 350 automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way. The unit also audibly announces the name of upcoming streets-- letting you keep your eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways. And if you stray off course, the nüvi 350 automatically calculates the quickest way to get back on track.

I bought this because it was highly rated at different reputable sites for it's mid-range price, portable size, use of text-to-speech announcing street names where some just give distance before the turn instructions. I did not need the blue tooth technology so this was a better model for me than the next level of nuvi's and allowed me to save some money. I have only used it a few times and am still learning to maneuver through the menu, but it has been a huge convenience, I think it was worth the price and am highly recommending it. Amazon beat the best price anywhere I checked (even Walmart)during the Christmas holiday and I did an extensive search.

I have a terrible sense of direction but frequently have to travel around the state for business. I received this as a gift just a couple of weeks ago and I'm already hooked. I can plug in locations before I leave and know that I'll get where I need to go without having to constantly look down at a piece of paper in my lap. The arrival time feature is a decent estimate of arrival time but is far from exact. I live in the burbs and this makes me feel much more adventurous about going into the city.

Wished I could give it 5 stars.......2007-12-31

I purchased this Canon camera to replace another returned camera. The 570IS is so full of features, I may never use all of them. Although I did find a couple favorite settings. The AUTO setting works well, even in low light. The continuous shutter is really cool. Can't wait to use it for sports shots! The benefit of having a viewfinder is priceless.

The downsides of the camera are not enough to return it. 1) It does eat batteries. I will now invest in rechargeable batteries. 2) The battery/disk compartment can be cumbersome. I felt like I was going to break the door off trying to open the compartment. 3) So far, I can only get the date stamp on a certain view. Not available on every format. The manual wasn't helpful in explaining the limitation. 4) It is bigger and bulkier than some of the other cameras. However, using AA batteries and having a viewfinder does add to its size.

But so far, I am very pleased.

power hunger little camera.......2007-12-30

I have an A520. This is a newer product and I was expecting it to be better. It is better but not by much. The only part that got worse is the battery consumption and the low battery warning. I used a pair of fully charged NiMH and the battery warning was flashing after 10 non-flash shots. Actually, the battery lasted for more than another 20-30 shots. Yet, the low battery warning is annoying.

My A520 arrived with white speckles between the display and the protective cover. This one came clean.

It constantly overexposes and that could be easily worked around by setting the exposure compensation and the flash power to about two steps down (-2/3). The time between shots is long especially when flash is used.

With higher ISO and Image Stabilizer, I would expect it to do much better then A520 under low light but the differences are minor.
The display is much larger, clear and the color is good. The face recognition works reasonably well.

performance disappointing.......2007-12-30

I bought this camera for my father. I was curious about the quality and compared the images from this camera to my Fujifilm S3000 (2001 technology, 3.2 Megapixels) and the results were disappointing. I thought it being Canon and having newer technology the camera would outperform the images from the S3000. Comparing photos side-by-side, the Canon didn't even match the sharpness of the S3000. Given the many positive comments on Amazon, I wonder if maybe this one is defective.

I've never considered Canon cameras difficult to use, but when you have to explain the intricacies of why it's so difficult to change batteries or why the polarities aren't clearly marked to a 70 year old, its a whole new ballgame.

The pictures were clear and sharp though a little on the dark side - the IS functionality is great - definitely helps with shaky hands.

I like this camera so far. It's a bit complicated at first because it does have some advanced features that the amateur photographer won't have a need to use. I think the menus could have been done a bit craftier, and maybe add a help section for each feature. The advanced book that came with the camera doesn't help much either, I think it could do a better job of explaining the features. Still a great camera though, highly recommended!

I gave my son this ipod for christmas and he was overjoyed. We have both had fun learning how to make this work. It took some doing, although I like to try without reading directions! Silly me. We figured it out and he now has a bunch of songs to listen to.

I put off purchasing an Ipod for a long time. I guess that since I had nothing to compare it to, I don't feel there is anything slow about my Ipod classic, as other reviewers have complained.

I love that you can "shuffle" your entire musical library and just let it play. I found it very easy to learn to use with one exception. Somehow I locked the volume lower than I want it to be, and can't figure out how to unlock it. It keeps asking for a password, which I must have entered by mistake somehow! I'll probably have to contact the company to figure out how to adjust my volume back up.

Other than that, I absolutely love not having to schlep CD's around with me. It' well worth the price for the convenience. If you are thinking of getting one, just do it!

No Portable Audio Device Will Ever Be Perfect.......2007-12-30

This is a fact. No matter what a company does to improve or change their portable audio device, people will always find something thats not to their liking. Is that a wrong thing? By no means so, but I believe certain comments in many reviews can become a little too serious and throw an average buyer off, like myself. I'm am in no way a very computer literate person. I do want I need to and that is it. I know many who read these reviews are the same way. To make it simple, this Ipod is not perfect. Neither is the Zune, nor the Zen. If you're wanting a 80 gb portable audio device you can simply choose between this and the Microsoft Zune. The way I would recommend you is to the Ipod. Im not a Zune hater by any means. I think one day they will outdo Ipod. For now, the Ipod still is greater. Why? One major reason, and the biggest at that, is Itunes. Please, even if you're still thinking about buying a Zune after this review, DOWNLOAD THEIR SOFTWARE! I came so close to buying a Zune and I happened to go ahead and download their software before I bought the Zune. I have over 25 gbs worth of Pearl Jam's live shows on Itunes. It stays very organized and is very neat. Zune went to transfer the live shows and it became a HUGE mess. Saying I hated it is an understatement. It took mu songs rearranged their orders and lost at least half of my artwork that I put on. I thought that maybe I could just fix it. Well, the only things you can really edit on the Zune software are song title, album title, and the artist name. You CAN NOT transfer files. To me, thats a huge problem. With Itunes, you can edit almost any little thing you want. That really comes in handy for someone like me and those who like to be organized.

The Ipod device itself is pretty reliable and simplistic. I have never owned a Zune, but I imagine they cant be too much more reliable or better. Some of the really nice updates on this Ipod compared to older models follow:
1 Bigger album artwork(slightly), although you cant just look at album covers and nothing more like the last model.

2 Better sound. This seems to be debated on a lot, but it seems the general conclusion, mine as well, is that the Iopd classic is slightly warmer sounding with a better bass response in general. Most people arent too audio crazed, and they should be well satisfied with the sound this device can give. The Zune doesnt have an EQ, technically neither does the Ipod. The Ipod has presets that I think anyone can find one they like.

3 The Classic is actually on average 3 seconds faster than the last model. Ive put my old Ipod beside this Classic model and the Classic is ALWAYS faster.

4 When you browse through an artists albums you can see the album artwork beside it. Thats a pretty nice feature to have that the last model didn't.

Some of the cons that I have read about really only seem to be the click wheel and that the album artwork doesn't come up fast enough. I think that the new Classic models may not be quite as responsive, but they really are nowhere near as slow as people are making them sound. The number one thing I have found people to exaggerate on is the amount of time it takes for artwork to come up, or on the cover flow. I don't use cover flow, but have looked at it. Neither it or just regular artwork coming up for each song, really take that long to come on. It maybe takes 2-4 seconds at that. Is that really a big deal? I don't see it. 2 seconds isn't that long at all. People really go over the top with that.

In conclusion, if you still don't want to give the Ipod a try, please go ahead and downland the Zune software before buying the device itself. I'm glad I did. Many reviewers I'm noticing are really just Ipod haters. Some may have never used one, they just jump on that bandwagon of hating then. I don't think the device is perfect, but is suits my needs the best and what I think the general public needs are. I don't hate Zune at all, but the software needed for the device just sucks and is too messy and unreliable. I hope this helps some because I'm about as normal and simple as it comes when recommending these types of things and using them as well. I just don't want anyone to be as annoyed as I was with the Zune software. In the long run I do recommend the Ipod Classic. Is it perfect? No, but neither is any other MP3 player on the market.

My iPod of 2 years died and I didn't want to hassle going to the local Apple store to replace it. Thank you to Amazon for making it so easy to buy it via the internet. It came very quickly and in perfect condition!
