I've had this product for a few weeks now and I have had a number of occasions to use it since I travel by air frequently. My need was to recharge my iPhone primarily, but also several other USB powered devices from time to time. APC should be commended for a lightweight, elegant battery solution that looks great and works just as well.
Here's how the APC UPB10 stacked up:
PROS:
- Very nice look and feel, looks very executive
- Solid overall construction and nice metal buttons
- Fashionable, 2.5 inch graduated charging LED
- Charges from a USB source itself, including a laptop, so no extra charger to be carried
- Has both mini USB and full size USB connector
- Surprisingly lightweight given the charge capacity (10W I believe)
- Can fast charge an iPhone as good as a wall connection
CONS:
- Charges only when main metal "on" button is pushed, not just by jacking in the plug, a very minor complaint
- Only charges 20 minutes at a time, then needs another goose of the button, though this makes sure you don't waste power but requires occasional attention
- Very slow recharging, can take hours, though this probably will make the battery live a lot longer
Bottom line, I would buy this product again in a heartbeat.

I bought this primarily to use during travel to extend the operating time of my iPhone. In my unofficial tests, this power pack completely recharged the iPhone (which was below 20% power) twice before needing to be plugged in itself. It's lightweight, simple to use, and it looks nice...what more could you ask? Buy one if you need to charge USB devices!

This is a fantastic device. The device comes with an USB output adapter it is directly plugged inti the adapter using the provided USB cable. This cable has a full size USB port on one end and a mini USB port at the other end. While charging full plug fits in the adapter and mini port is connected to the device input port. It has 4 built in LED's indicating the charging status. It is even possible to connect an USB device with an extra port for the pass-through mode. It can supply adapter power for both charging and the extra device. Once the charging is finished it will supply power to the device. All you do is to plug the full size connector to the outlet port over the device and small USB connector to your powering device. If you have a nonstandard cable you can directly plug it to the full size USB port. LED's will stop displaying remaining power after 10 seconds to conserve power. However it is possible to activate LED's again using the button located over the device. If no load is connected at the power port for 15 minutes the device goes into sleep mode to conserve battery. The included brochure says it can supply enough power for an iPOD up to 55 hours. The device is very lightweight and thin so very easy to jam in a pocket. It is absolutely worth for the money. The device is rated for 8W of continuous and 10W peak load.

"Fuel" In MFuel Doesn't Last Long.......2007-12-12
The good... Great innovative item. Charges almost everything I own. As military member, this is great when I deploy. I spend a lot of time on aircraft, traveling from point to point. There is even enough juice to swap both wife's and my Zen Vision W and both my son's PSP on long flights with power left over to spare.
The bad... The power button only has to be touched to turn it on. You have to press and hold the power button to turn it off. This means it is easy to accidently turn it on when it is sitting in your bag. It would have been better to work the power button to work in the reverse order--press and hold to turn on, press and release to turn off.
The ugly... The MFuel Universal Power Bank does what it says it does. However, it doesnt say that it will hold a charge for any length of time. If you just let the battery sit, you will loose juice at an astonishing rate. Full charged and left to sit for a day will drop you to 93%. After, four months of use, my MUP will not charge passed 80%. For $300, I'd expect it to hold a charge and keep its full charging cycle for a lot longer. Would I buy it again? No! There are other products that will do the same for a lot less money.

I recently purchased the universal powerbank and I couldn't be more impressed. It gives me an extra 8-9 hours working time on my Dell Notebook making me virtually cord free during my day. Since buying MFuel, I've never run out of juice traveling. I love it!
While this product may seem a little expensive, once you have one you realize how much working time you buy back during your day traveling and working away from your desk. It's definately worth the money. Plus, the customer service was great - I wasn't sure which tip i needed for my new treo or whether it was included so i called and was helped out immediately.

Right out of the box I ran into trouble. If you have a dell computer there is no way to charge this battery. I had to use someone elses charger for an HP to get it charged. Once it was charged however it is great. Long lasting and suprisingly small.

it appears to be a great product however the universal adapter is incomplete and the product leaks energy badly. There is no actual leak in the equipment it just loses power sitting there.

Thanks to the other review about the on/off button, I was able to save myself from losing valuable battery life...making sure I didn't accidentially turn it on before I wanted to use it.
So long as you know to be careful of the on/off button, this product allowed me to run my IPOD, cell, Sony PSP, DVD player without fail. I had 6 to 10 hour down times without power while on planes/trains during a recent vacation to Europe(left my business laptop at home).
I confess I worried this product wouldn't be enough, and I also purchased a Tekkeon 3400 for additional (emergency) back up, I was NEVER without use of my electronic gadgets!
Expensive, but worth having for any gadget guy/gal.

I have used this universal power pack for about 1 month now and have found it very easy to use and charges my cell phone completely. The one unknown for me is how many recharges (so far about 15) will it take before it wont fully recharge my cell phone anymore. This powerpack is less than half the price of a comparable APC powerpack so it is definately great value for the money.

The batteries are 1/2 mm shorter than the other standard AAAA batteries I tried and three out of 20 were dead with no charge in them. I used a battery tester and my mm scale to find what the problems were when trying to use them in my Stramlight. Cheap, and that is what they are.
