Awesome flash.......2007-12-29
I use two of these flashes as slaves to an SB-800. Battery consumption is an issue. I can do only about four hours of shooting before I need to replace the batteries. I use alkaline batteries, but will be switching to rechargeables soon. I do outdoor portraits, and use the 600s shot into umbrellas. iTTL works great with the 800. (Or slave setting on the D70, and D300. Cameras I own.) Changing to manual control is a snap.
I can only recommend this flash as a slave because I haven't used it any other way, and I can only assume it will perform as well as a main flash.

As a Nikon shooter for over 30 years, I really was wondering what all the fuss was over "CLS". Was this just more hype to get Nikon owners to buy the latest and greatest?
I've always been skeptical of added "features" on photo equipment as most of them have very little to do with photography. It took me years of kicking and screaming to give up my film cameras in favor of digital so nobody can ever accuse me of being an early adaptor.
Well, this is one time that I should have looked into exactly what "CLS" and "TTL BL" were all about. Instead, I've been using a Nikon SB22 speedlight with 20 year old technology.
To say that I wasn't getting good results with the SB22 would be wrong. I was very satisfied. However, I had to really work at it. Not so with the SB600.
From the time I first mounted it on my D80, every shot came out perfectly exposed. Even tricky things like outdoor fill flash are a no-brainer. So, here I am in the 21st century and giving up the old technology for good.
There are a lot of reviews of the SB600 already so I'm not going to say what's already been said. However, if you have any doubts about the SB600 being worth the money and/or doing what it's being advertised to do, get over them.

I'm still learning how to use this, but it's awesome. The SB400 isn't even comparable, and I think for the average consumer, like I am, the SB800 is too expensive. I use this on my D50; I love it.

Got a SB-600 to go on my D80 and haven't regretted. The RF link between the camera and Flash works great. Really adds options to your pictures. With this sitting off your camera forget about red-eye. Audible beep when the flash is ready. You won't be sorry.

This is what I needed all along. This flash is so easy to use and comes with 2 color filters which are great to use indoors. The Flash bracket that comes with it is also a great piece of hardware to have. A def. must buy for anyone serious about taking great photos!

As you know, if a photographer wants better quality flash photos, he has to take the flash off his camera. But to use his dedicated flash off his camera and mount it to a bracket, he must use an off-camera TTL cord. These off-camera TTL cords are significantly less expensive than the cords available by the camera/flash manufacturer. With a 3 foot coiled cord and a male flash shoe on the bottom of the connector for the flash, these cords were designed to allow most better flash brackets that have a flash accessory shoe to mount either a flash or a TTL cord

Get the flash off your camera!.......2007-06-06
Using the Nikon SB-800 up and off camera (using a flash bracket) eliminates red-eye, and gives you more natural shadows (emulating the relative position of the sun, up and off to one side). You need this cord to connect the flash bracket hot shoe to the D-200. You can pay the Nikon price, but hey! It's just a cord!

This cable really doesn't compare to the real nikon cable. The cable broke after one use!!!!!!! One of the welds broke. Would not recommend this cable, unless you're really broke. Buy a real nikon one on e-bay.

Mechanical assembly of this item is poor. No apparent strain reliefs at either end and small diameter wires. This item did not function properly on my D200 or D70 cameras. Great price but it didn't work. Return to Cameta Camera went smoothly much better than the product did.
