A must have but it's missing something..........2007-12-30
For me the battery grip is a must have, not so much for the extra battery but for the feel and improved balance with larger lenses. When I purchased the 40D I immediately picked up the BG-E2N as well. It's exactly the same as the BG-E2 (except for new weather seal around battery door) so no complaints in that regard but they left out something huge... Where's the AF-on button for the vertical grip? C'mon Canon, you included that button for the new WiFi WFT-E3A grip so why not on the new BG-E2N?

i was so worried about getting this grip i heard s many bad things about it. so let me take this time to clear somethings up. this grip is awesome, i don't know why people are saying that it's bad, has loose connection, doesn't fit right. well i haven't had any of those problems i love this product i really don't know how i lived with out it get it just get it.

A necessary accessory.......2007-10-22
The battery grip is a very necessary add-on for the 40D (or any other Canon camera which it will fit). It turns out to be even better than described, as it facilitates vertical format with its extra trigger and controls, and of course, having two batteries extends the time between recharging or battery replacement. It even accepts AA batteries in case of an emergency (being somewhere without power for your charger). It adds a little weight, but does not make the camera harder to handle. Highly recommended.

The BG-E2N grip is essential to my shooting. Of course, battery life is no longer a problem. I forget the last time I charged them and I never turn my camera off. The vertical grip allows portraits to be shot so effortlessly. And believe it or not, I love the extra weight that it adds. I feel it lets me hold the camera steadier. I honestly have not taken the grip off since I bought it. In fact, I bought a larger camera bag just to hold the camera with the grip permanently attached. Highly Recommended!
